BEACH EPISODE (FLONA COVE)

[ Beach day! But rather than actually socializing with the other beach-goers, Rohan's opted to stay away from the festitivites, observing the natural wildlife instead. Honestly, is this even a surprise? People are a pain in the ass to deal with. The less people around, the happier he is. Currently, he's had the fortune of spotting a bottlenose dolphin, swimming near the shallow water. Naturally excited a out the world around him, he's taken to sketching it immediately, watching with much interest at the magical scene of a dolphin bobbing in and out of the water. That dolphin sure is lingering for quite some time, though. ]

Hmm. If it's food that it wants, there are plenty. [ There are many fishes around, after all. Can't be that. ] Oh, could it be? I see. It's that, isn't it --? Yes, I've figured it out. That dolphin clearly wants me to ride it.

[ Someone tell him that life isn't an animu. ]

SPICIER BEACH EPISODE (FLONA COVE - CUPID'S POOL)

[ ooc: i don't expect anything spicy to actually happen but still, preference for 18+! ]

[ Someone told him he could find a very beautiful starfish here in these waters, with 6 arms and skin that reflects light. There was a possibility they were pulling his leg, but after hearing a decription like that, he can't help but investigate. That's the kind of guy Rohan is, after all. The moment he's curious about something, he won't stop until he finds what he wants.

He's heard about the ... possible, amorous effects of the pool, but perhaps that's a risk he's willing to take in pursuit of curiosity. He loves nature, and he loves finding new creatures to get excited about! Whatever might happen doesn't actually bother him too much. Maybe he's not really considering the consequences, too. Whatever. He wants to see starfishes.

So far he's just finished his first dive, but it's been fruitless. He'll emerge out of the water soon enough. In a rare sight he's actually topless, shirt folded and placed at the side, and his weird headband has been taken off too. ] Just how elusive is this creature?

[ And now he hears someone coming along, disturbing his peaceful swim. ] Who's there?

QUEST: FUN AND EXCITING ARSON

[ Would Rohan burn down a building just for the sake of doing it? Yeah, yeah he fucking would, it doesn't matter if they won't be getting a reward for this. It's not like he gets many opportunities to burn things without commiting a felony. There's no way he's going to receive a request to commit random arson and not accept it. It's an interesting way to pass an hour or two? It's not like anyone will actually get hurt. Plus, maybe there's something he can learn from all those secret documents. And also, he loves nature walks just like this, so he's enjoying every moment of the trek there.

Though, he's suddenly reminded about the last time he saw a house burn down (his own fucking house) and that's ruining his day a little. While he looked to be in good spirits before, the expression on his face suddenly darkens, and he lets out a mirthless chuckle. ] Hmph. I just remembered something I'd rather not.

QUEST: THE GET-ALONG ... VINE (??)

[ A quest like this sounds right up his alley, and so does the reward. While he doesn't actually need a numbling potion, given the capability of Heaven's Door, owning a potion at all is a novelty in itself. He wants to have it. Plus, it isn't like he'll really be at a loss in any way, because he would have went off exploring the flora and fauna anyway.

The plant they're looking for today is called the sorprus, and from what he remembers about it, it's an angry vine that's attracted to feelings of discord. ] Ahh, I've dealt with this in the station. If you keep calm and do as I say, we'll be fine.

[ This is Rohan, though. A guy who would argue with an 11 year old child. Discord happens to be very much in his nature. ]

[Oh hey, they'd recognize that weird hairstyle anywhere! The beach is fascinating--much bigger than the one back home, full of all sorts of strange creatures and sights. This is just one of many, though Dia approaches carefully so as to, hopefully, not startle the dolphin.]

Rohan! [They do greet him though, smiling pleasantly. The sun reflects especially brightly off their hair, but there's a headscarf in their hands just in case it becomes too much.]

Are these things typically used for transportation...? [IS THAT THEIR PURPOSE? Fascinating.]

[ He's not too great with names but he actually remembers this person's name. How could he not? Diamond's one of the most interesting beings he's met so far. There's also the fact that their name is 'Diamond', and they're literally made out of diamond. ]

Diamond. It's good to see you again. [ Someone he actually likes ... ] Not usually. However! Riding a dolphin has been a fantasy of many, and the fact that it's often depicted in artwork, and there are people who would pay top dollar for the experience, only proves that.

It's good to see you too! [And Dia even means it genuinely! Amazing. They listen carefully to the explanation, sort of nodding along to show they at least can sorta understand and follow what he's saying.

But at his comment on it, they smile sheepishly and apologetically] I understand a little! Riding one is something humans--people--want to to, but can't often. You explained a little about 'paying' and 'money' before, though I'm not sure why a dolphin would need to be paid... [They've got this!! Because clearly the one you're paying is the dolphin, right? Diamond looks thoughtfully at the dolphin]

Do you think this one will let you ride it even if you don't pay it...?

[Chuuya is still a bit strapped for cash, so when the opportunity arises to earn some silver by tracking down some kind of plant, he goes for it. How hard can it be to gather some weeds? Even if his partner is Rohan Kishibe...

Chuuya snorts, crossing his arms.]

[He bends to stare at the plant, but at least he’s not dumb enough to grab it without knowing anything about what it does.]

[ While the company is less than ideal, he at least knows about Chuuya's capability, so he can't really be surprised by anything the other man does. He also knows that he can put Chuuya under his control with the use of Heaven's Door, and that's a perk. It's not ... as bad as it could be. He's still a little bitter about being roughed up in their last encounter, but he did come out of it learning a little about how to fight. ]

It seems to feed off ... emotional discord. To survive this, we have to -- what you might call 'work together'. [ Why is he talking like that's such a foreign, faraway concept though? ]

There's a theme to these El Nysan plants. I've also encountered one that would only release you after you share a kiss with someone else. [ So maybe they're lucky that they don't have to ... do that. ]

[Chuuya is much more used to Rohan’s attitude and abilities by now, so it’s not a huge deal to have to work together. Whether they can do it without a single disagreement remains to be seen. Needless to say, Chuuya doesn’t have high hopes.]

So what, are we supposed to just cut it and take it back?

[Chuuya probably should’ve done his research, because the plant comes alive when it detects the heartbeats of two creatures, and in the blink of an eye a thick set of vines wrap around both of his wrists.]

[ A chance to play with magical potions and concoct a perfume of his own? With his fierce curiosity he has to take this interesting offer. Money in Olympia might be much easier to make than expected, given how many quests seem to involve tasks he would likely have endeavored on his own given how fascinating they were. There is the knowledge that some of these potions might turn out to be aphrodisiacs, given the employer they're doing the job for, but even that is a risk he'll take to satisfy his own curiosity.

He arrives in Shades Darker with little interest in the place's intended purposes, shooing away any model who tries to entice him into a service, and moves to the allocated room. There, he'll see someone he actually knows. ]

Jean-Jacques ... It's barely been a few days since we last met. [ Though, he doesn't actually mind, even if JJ is kind of annoying. ] What a coincidence that we both answered the same ad.

[ JJ is way more interested in the workers at Shades Darker than Rohan is, though that's only to be expected. He's never one to shy away from the opportunity to be fawned over—even if they're just doing it in the hopes of making some money. And even if their eager expressions are quickly turning into something more strained as they begin to realize JJ is only interested in talking about himself.

Luckily for them, Rohan manages to steal his attention. Normally, he would be considerably less interested in Rohan, except that Rohan had dished out a few choice compliments during their last conversation that JJ had appreciated.

So he just grins. ]

Oh yeah? Are you saying it's fate? [ Hm. ] I should've warned you about falling in love with me, Rohan. It feels good at the start, but it'll only end in heartbreak for you.

Spicy Beach Episode minus the spice

[Everything about Flona Cove demands to be enjoyed, and Cam is on a mission to find all of the best swimming spots he can find. It reminded him of being a kid in the middle of the summer, when the lakes and streams were a welcome relief from a long day on the road in one of the Buckland's wagons. But his memories usually featured ponds and rivers, rather than the picturesque views before him now.

But memories aside, he's already yanking the bracers off of his wrists when he hears a voice, and he peers down into the water below.]

[ Beyond finding Cam sort of annoying, Rohan doesn't actually mind him or has a real opinion of him either way. He's a bit disappointed he doesn't have this beautiful, picturesque lake to himself, but with how so many of the locals seemed to know about this spot he didn't actually expect a lot of privacy. ]

Ah, it's you, that -- What was your name? [ hey rohan please make a bigger effort at remembering names. ] Cam. Yes.

[ With a little more dread, now: ] I see I have to share this beautiful spot now. [ Somewhat PA? Nah. ]

[ She's always been a try anything once kind of individual. No harm in it, really, when this seems to be a once-in-a-life-time kind of opportunity ( normally, setting fire to an entire building has consequences ). So, out of curiosity more than anything else, she accepts.

Figures that her partners-in-crime aren't going to be the type of people's she's fond of though, unfortunately. She keeps her face largely impassive while they travel to their destination, though her eyes wander back to him when he speaks.

Rather than prying— ]

You could get the fire to burn it away. [ The memories, she means. It's a joke, probably. ]

[ She didn't want to pry, but he's going to tell her anyway, because everyone and their mother needs to know about the salt he has. After a glance at her phone, he goes back to his little mini-rant. ]

Burning up some spy's base, while exciting, won't quite give me enough satisfaction. No, I'll only truly feel vindicated when I get to burn up something else that person owns ...

[Frankly, Setsuna is more interested in whatever bits of information might be lying around than setting things on fire, but to each his own. For the most part, Setsuna is rather quiet as he walks, not saying much until Rohan finally spoke up.]

[That's about the most Setsuna is going to pry at the moment, as he doesn't really know this dude well enough to press.]

[ While Setsuna hadn't exactly pried, Rohan is more than happy to tell him all about what has him feeling so salty. He's just the kind of person who wants the whole world to know when he's unhappy. ]

[ He's smart enough to know there's a chance the dolphin is lingering around for absolutely no reason at all, but now that he has his mind set on trying to ride it, he doesn't want to turn back. ]

If there's even a chance at all that I could ride a dolphin today, I would be a fool not to take it.

[ All things considered, Percival isn't actually that demanding of a guy when it comes to his home. He just wants a space to call his own, nothing too extravagant, and peace and quiet.

That peace and quiet is sacred, and the only thing he asks for. Sadly, especially on El Nysa, he rarely receives it.

For the past half hour there's been a horrible noise coming from outside of his room, supplemented by the matching clinking of glasses to match the melody. If it can even be called a melody.

He delayed in reacting because honestly, he's so used to Vane's antics that he usually just waits for whatever suffering is going on to pass these days.

But enough is enough! He bursts open his bedroom door, booming yell over the sound of the "music" ]

[ Percival will find Rohan on the floor of Vane's room, surrounded by 25 glasses of different water levels, all arranged in ascending order. Yes, he's doing it, he's trying to make water glass MUSIC. Sadly, he's only just started practicing, so he hasn't reached the level of mastery he desires yet. Give him time, though? And don't bust through the door as he's working.

His symphony comes to a halt, ruined by Percival's very rude interruption. Rohan's expression seems to sour immediately, regarding Percy with a heavy look of disdain. ]

Percival. [ If he knew Percy's full name he would use it, just for a more pointed effect. He doesn't. ] It slipped my mind that you live here too. How unfortunate.

[ Rohan likes Vane enough at this point to actually care about his ... well-being (amazing), so he won't be carelessly endangering the guy's life this time. (Hopefully, not ever again, but who even knows about the future?) Anyway, after a short scuffle with one very ferocious squirrel, Vane's been roughed up a little, scratch marks over his face and a bite-mark over his arm. While Rohan had fended off the thing by forcing it to go back into its hole, the damage has been done.

As they move through the forest, Rohan's preoccupied with one thing. There's this nagging feeling he has, a gnawing kind of concern -- he's actually thinking about someone other than himself and finds himself wanting to help Vane. He can't heal, however, and the Sanctuary is miles away.

There's one thing ... ] I've heard that some of the mushrooms in this forest have healing properties. Shall we try that?

[ Not that he's concerned or anything. Gross. ]

[ if anything, vane had long been accustomed to the idea of getting injured on the field, and in tune with this, baring a few wounds here and there. if anything, the squirrel was likely kinder than most monsters he's been up against.

... kinder might have been relative to size, but vane decides it doesn't really matter.

vane is using the back of his hand to dab delicately at one of the larger scratches against his cheek. it stings a little and he gives an awkward smile towards rohan as he continues alongside him. he's about to say something, likely about how it isn't really a big deal, but then rohan suddenly speaks, beating him to the punch. ] You think it could help? Honestly, I'm really okay, but...

[ well, if rohan is worried.... ] All right! Which one do you think looks "healing" like?

Maybe this green one over here? [ its bright colors look a little like candy, actually. kind of smells nice too. ]

[ Rohan Kishibe, actually caring enough to check if people are alright? Yes. It's not actually a very surprising thing at all. Deep within him he has the potential for good. It shone when he put in effort to locate Yoshikage Kira, and it's showing again now, in the aftermath of the interrupted battle against Ysverai. It's too bad his more favourable side only seems to come out when the situation is life or death. On any other day, he's a selfish jerk who invades people's privacy.

Though not many, there are a few people that Rohan cares about - a few people he can, with a lot of urging, call his 'friends'. Those people can be counted with one hand, but when he does get attached to someone he tends to get really attached. Those are the people he's keeping a discreet eye out for today. Vane is one of them.

When he sees that man, there are no heartfelt words, no cheerful exclamations of joy or even a sigh in relief. Rohan just demands his attention from behind with a simple call of his name. ]

Vane. [ He's here. Pay attention to him. ]

[ maybe it works out that vane had always been single-minded. while others could multi-task and work through a variety of scenarios and situations, likely prioritizing within these bounds— vane could only really consider one thing. everyone's safety. the faces of the people he cares for and needed to protect. if that's the case, he could put himself in harm's way easily. rather, he preferred it. it suit his style of fighting either way, and he had always prided himself in how tough he was built. how much he could physically endure.

he's been worried since being separated with rohan. he knows quite well they both needed to do what was required of them, and they both had a lot more things that only they could do. perhaps both their injuries could attest to this fact. there are notable tears in clothes, gashes. he's pretty beat up, really. but he still believes in his stamina best (and in his second wind, rip gbf skills). besides, he could always work best in moments where more was on the line.

hence, he could only hope everyone else was in better shape. that's always his wish. he hadn't run into many people yet, and so when he hears rohan's voice. ] —! [ he finds himself overcome with some sort of emotion. was he touched to see him there? relieved? happy? he swallows hard before running over and giving rohan a big hug. his arms moving out widely, enough where his spear crashes to the ground with a loud clang. ]

I'm really happy to see you, buddy.... [ really, he means it. somehow it's like the energy he normally feels is drained from him. at least temporarily. ]
