Who: Jon Snow ([personal profile] song_of_ice) & Edmund Pevensie ([personal profile] exonerated)
What: Royal Guard Assignment
When: 8/19
Where: Entertainment District
Warning(s): Mild violence

The assignment was a relatively simple one, even if the man that was to be brought in was elusive. Being his first assignment, Jon felt that same dire to prove himself that he hadn't felt since he first joined the Night's Watch. Added was the knowledge that a number of businesses were being exploited and harmed by Sev and his men.

There was encouragement for Jon to partner with another of the guards, something that would only benefit him. Edmund had joined the Royal Guard as well, both kings sharing a similar drive and goal. Given the skills that he had witnessed in the woods, there was no question in Jon's mind that Edmund was the person to ask to join him. He was a hunter and there was someone that needed to be hunted and caught.

"One of his men should be coming to this shop today," he tapped on the map, pointing to the specific location. "If we keep a distance, we could follow to Sev's location. We could follow in a pincer position, keeping him from escaping either side of us." He looked up at Edmund, searching for his opinion.

Accepting Jon's invitation was a simple decision. They are more than just strangers to each other now, and Jon seems to be the type of man eager to do good, and do well doing it, and Edmund has no qualms surrounding himself with good men that could potentially be good friends. Part of it, too, is flattery, that someone already thinks of him positively to consider him the right person to contact; he is eager to prove Jon right.

So yes, he accepts, and together they will enter the entertainment district to begin in their task. Edmund is used to being the leader, but he has no issues deferring to another should the situation call for it. This is Jon's assignment, and therefore his lead, so he listens attentively.

"It's good," he says, nodding. "Better now than later, and they are hardly subtle to begin with. He's grown too confident." Too used to evading capture, and the royal guard not having enough bodies to spare on his account. "It is detainment for him, but what of his companions? He will surely have a few close to him."

"It would not be difficult to find a backdoor, I think," he suggests. "One of us can charge in and start the fight, while the other ambush from behind. It corners them. If he tries to escape, I know are skills are good enough to catch him before he has that chance."

There are many unknowns in this scenario, but the one thing he has confidence in is his and Jon's ability in a fight. They've seen each other hunting, and sparred against each other many a time in the courtyard. And Edmund has his bow with him — if nothing else, he is certain that he can shoot the man not to kill him, but to simply prevent him from leaving.

Honestly? He likes charging in, if only because there is no waiting in war. You put one foot forward, and you're suddenly in the battlefield, weapons at hand and facing down more enemies than you can count in your head. But he's has experience when it comes to waiting — High King Peter is almost always in charge, front and center, and if there's anyone that enjoys being first in line when charging through a line of soldiers waiting to cut them down, it's Peter.

Edmund can wait, and he can be stealthy. Jon seems to be the type that can be both as well, so he makes a decision for the both of them.

"I do not mind either way, but I would give that honor to you," Edmund replies, the corner of his lips quirking upwards.
