Who: Jon Snow (
song_of_ice) & Edmund Pevensie (
exonerated)
What: Royal Guard Assignment
When: 8/19
Where: Entertainment District
Warning(s): Mild violence
The assignment was a relatively simple one, even if the man that was to be brought in was elusive. Being his first assignment, Jon felt that same dire to prove himself that he hadn't felt since he first joined the Night's Watch. Added was the knowledge that a number of businesses were being exploited and harmed by Sev and his men.
There was encouragement for Jon to partner with another of the guards, something that would only benefit him. Edmund had joined the Royal Guard as well, both kings sharing a similar drive and goal. Given the skills that he had witnessed in the woods, there was no question in Jon's mind that Edmund was the person to ask to join him. He was a hunter and there was someone that needed to be hunted and caught.
"One of his men should be coming to this shop today," he tapped on the map, pointing to the specific location. "If we keep a distance, we could follow to Sev's location. We could follow in a pincer position, keeping him from escaping either side of us." He looked up at Edmund, searching for his opinion.

sorry for the delay!
So yes, he accepts, and together they will enter the entertainment district to begin in their task. Edmund is used to being the leader, but he has no issues deferring to another should the situation call for it. This is Jon's assignment, and therefore his lead, so he listens attentively.
"It's good," he says, nodding. "Better now than later, and they are hardly subtle to begin with. He's grown too confident." Too used to evading capture, and the royal guard not having enough bodies to spare on his account. "It is detainment for him, but what of his companions? He will surely have a few close to him."
No prob!
"More than a few, I would think." This was the part that gave him pause. "My first instinct would be to charge in, but that leads us exposed and gives him time to escape. "There is infiltration, but we haven't the time to scout or inspect the hideout, once we find it. We would be going blind."
He glanced up at Edmund, searching his face for suggestions. While it was his mission, he was never a man to make decisions without first seeking advice or council from the men that followed him.
no subject
There are many unknowns in this scenario, but the one thing he has confidence in is his and Jon's ability in a fight. They've seen each other hunting, and sparred against each other many a time in the courtyard. And Edmund has his bow with him — if nothing else, he is certain that he can shoot the man not to kill him, but to simply prevent him from leaving.
no subject
He didn't have Ghost to help him in this situation, but he trusted Edmund's ability. When you fight and hunt with a man, a certain bond tends to form. He could rely on the king to help support Jon's shortcomings with his own strengths.
He nodded again, rolling up the map. "Which do you prefer? Charging in or bringing up the rear?"
no subject
Edmund can wait, and he can be stealthy. Jon seems to be the type that can be both as well, so he makes a decision for the both of them.
"I do not mind either way, but I would give that honor to you," Edmund replies, the corner of his lips quirking upwards.
no subject
He bowed his head in thanks before quickly fastening his sword belt around his waist.
"The man that usually goes to collect the shop's payments should be there in an hour. It's the same one he always sends, so it will be easy to spot him. We should go and set up a perimeter, keeping an eye for him so we can follow him back."
