Closed to Chuuya
And don't be late! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧♡♡♡♡
[Why are there so many hearts?? Why is he like this??? We just don't know.]
[But with that message sent, Mephisto will appear exactly at noon, standing by the entrance to the Southern outpost with both hands resting over the handle of his umbrella. Hopefully Chuuya isn't late -- or else he's just gonna leave.]
no subject
The contents of the message are far more important than the cutesy emojis, however. Chuuya has been waiting on news about Mephisto’s plan to harness Corruption for what seems like an eternity, when in reality it’s only been a short while.
For once in his life Chuuya is actually nervous as he arrives at the southern outpost at the requested time.
What if this doesn’t work? What if he’s left a shell of his former self? What if he dies??
But Chuuya has never been one to back out of anything, and so here he is, looking much the same as usual.]
Here I am.
no subject
[Yeah boy, that nervousness is palpable on his face and in the air. He hikes his umbrella over his shoulder takes a step closer to Chuuya, reaching out to tilt Chuuya's chin up to meet his eyes.]
[By contrast, Mephisto looks more excited than anything.]
I hope you don't mind us taking a little walk? From what little you've told me of your power, I thought the further away from anything that might leave evidence would be for the best.
Fufu, not that I imagine we'll run into any problems, of course. But if possible, I would like the opportunity to see that power of yours at work!
[LET'S GO SOMEWHERE AND BLOW UP SOME MOUNTAINS]
no subject
But he’s not about to back down now, and he meets Mephisto’s gaze without fear.]
Yeah, sure. Lead the way.
[They could just float there, but walking gives them a chance to talk, at least.]
Well? Tell me what you came up with.
no subject
[Yes, Mephisto is that kind of guy. He's not going to tell Chuuya exactly what he came up with until they can put it into play.]
But rest assured, I'm well aware of just how much trust you're placing in my hands right now. I've taken countless precautions and I have no doubt in my mind that this will work just as I intend it to.
But all the same-- it makes your master very happy that you would trust me with your life.
[Clearly the best way to diffuse nervousness is to fluster him instead.]
no subject
Good. Because I don’t give it easily.
[The people Chuuya truly trusts can be counted on one hand, and that won’t change anytime soon. For him to agree to this, to risk losing a vital piece himself, and to inevitably activate corruption with only Mephisto to stop him, speaks volumes to just how much trust is being put on the table here.
Chuuya huffs, crossing his arms. He’s still not used to calling anyone Master...]
You enjoy that word too much.
[It’s bad enough that he’s gotten looks because of the new little addition to his collar, but if anyone actually heard him address Mephisto as Master...]
...I guess you spent time researching it, so it’d be a waste not to try.

Closed to Reign
[But was it a test of Reign's obedience, or a test of how much he ached for Mephisto's attention? Honestly, he's not really sure. But considering much of his time was spent researching a new spell for Chuuya, aside from the few hours a day (yes, hours) he spent keeping an eye on Reign, he really didn't have all that much freetime anyway.]
[Which is for the best, really. Because if it were meant to be a test of whether distance makes the heart grow fonder, well, apparently he's successfully proven it. He just didn't expect that he would be the one to miss Reign's company so much. Even after all this time on Nysa, he's still not really used to the idea of needing to wait for time to pass...]
[N-Not that he's going to show it, b-b-baka.]
[As Reign is closing shop for the weekend, he'll hear the sound of a very familiar poof from behind him -- and there stands Mephisto, leaning against a counter and dressed notably fancier than usual.]
Time certainly flies, doesn't it?
Closed to Amaimon
[Perhaps because instead it's done the opposite -- bringing them closer than they've ever really been in the past. Which is the only reason Mephisto could possibly be feeling concerned about the fact that he was keeping things from his brother. After all these years of being such a consistent figure in Amaimon's life, acknowledging just how much he's changed feels too heavy...]
[But thankfully there's no reason to go about acknowledging all of that now, because they've got more important things to worry about--]
Amaimon. Much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news... I don't think we're going to find eggo waffles in the marketplace.
[Like grocery shopping. With a list that is almost entirely junk food, some of which is clearly only available in Assiah or up on Thesa station/]
no subject
What about chocolate chip ones? [he peers at the list in his brother's hand. maybe this would be weird back home - shopping with his brother like this, but it isn't bad. he isn't having a bad time. maybe that's what made this weird.]
I could make them.
no subject
[AS IF HE'S ONE TO TALK..........]
no subject
I want to learn. Seems like it could be fun and I can make myself food whenever I want too.
[now he's looking at mephisto.]
Do you know how?
no subject
[--since he has no familiars who can cook for him, nor can he just poof food into existence. But all that goes unsaid.]
Shall I look into procuring a cook book for you to study? I'm sure Mipha has one or two she wouldn't mind lending to you.
Closed to Yona
[And so, when he sees her standing in the navigation room on Thesa, he doesn't even bother turning to leave this time. And in any case, he came here for a reason. Ever since that strange broadcast over the network from Darma, the Natha have been very conspicuously missing from the station. And while most refugees are understandably busy with matters down below, Mephisto can't help but wonder what sort of trouble may await them -- and from which direction they ought to be expecting it.]
[There's a hologram of space and stars floating all around the room -- of a star system not too far from El Nysa. The planet itself might even be visible, were they to zoom in the map in the right spot. For now, it's all a jumble of small lights and tiny clusters.]
It's rather pretty, isn't it? These far outreaches of space. [Whether or not Yona turned to see who it was that entered, he speaks up right away regardless, arms folded behind his back as he walks towards the center of the room.] And yet to think even this is only a small, small corner of it. I wonder just how far one would have to go to reach the place where our worlds once were... though I suppose there wouldn't be much left to see.
Closed to Diva
[Which he'll be doing in typical Mephisto-fashion: by just casually strolling out from a dresser drawer that rather loudly opens on its own, while transformed into a dog.]
Guten Abend, Miss Diva!
[...a-a dog that talks in a very, very familiar voice.]
no subject
The sudden opening of her dresser has her sitting up straight, alarmed, eyes wide as a talking dog appears from it. She doesn't remember ever having put a dog in her drawer...so what the fuck is happening? Why is it speaking German?]
Wha-?
no subject
[...only for Mephisto to appear in its place, bowing politely.]
Fufu, did I surprise you? I believe that's the first time I've shown that little trick to you!
no subject
[Don't mind her as she just...scoots back a bit on her bed, pointing her bare toes at him. Just because she can. Why point with a finger when you can use a foot?]
Solomon said I shouldn't let animals into the house.
[Not that that's stopped her...but it has gotten her reprimanded.]
no subject
[Also wow don't point ur foot at him that's rude in some cultures??]
I do hope I'm not interrupting anything important. But seeing as you always seem to be in the mood for a snack whenever I call-- [A little snap of his fingers-- and suddenly he'd holding what, at a glance, looks like a bottle of wine. But it's definitely not wine.] I thought it'd be fine if I just dropped by with this!
no subject
Immediately her interested is piqued as she stares at the bottle in his hand, sitting up straight and scooting to the end of her mattress.]
Oh? What did I do to deserve such a treat?

Ten years later here I am
Closed to Urbosa
[Such as right now -- in a clear example of magic-user abuse, he's more or less been regulated to whatever heavy lifting needed to be done, given he can just float everything where it needs to go. Sure, it's not like it takes a lot out of him or anything, but it's the principle of the matter! It only takes a few minutes of showing what he can do for everyone else to just leave it to him. And just because he can do it doesn't mean he wants to spend the next hour offloading some twenty carts of supplies by himself. He's not that selfless!!]
[But it just so happens that Urbosa is walking by around the same time-- and seeing this as a nice opportunity to chat, he calls out to her.]
Ah, Lady Urbosa! If you have a moment to spare, would you mind helping me with unloading some of these supplies? It seems all of my helpers have been swept up into taking care of other duties.
[Or they're all getting drunk somewhere to ring in the apocalypse. Same difference.]
no subject
The former Chieftain seems much the same as normal; head and shoulders above (most) of the crowd bustling around the outpost, occasionally pausing to speak to one person or another, shouldering items when asked for help, et cetra. The only new addition is the gleaming face of the Daybreaker belted to the small of her back.
PERFECT PARRY, BOYS. YEET.To her credit, Mephisto only gets a sardonic raised eyebrow in response to his question prior to her setting down a crate and sauntering over. ]
And we can't have that, now can we? Consider my moment spared.
[ Don't think she isn't side-eyeing those magically floating bits and bobs just as hard as passersby, my dude. She's totally judging you a little for it. ]
no subject
I have my familiars patrolling some of the nearby roads to keep any agitated wildlife away. It seems we're not the only ones to have noticed the change in the air these past few days.
[That odd sense of dread that seemed to roll in with the oddly chilly weather... the animals have certainly picked up on it, with at least a few of the carts looking rather worn/damaged from crashes with how easily the horses pulling them could be spooked right now.]
[Of course, Mephisto doesn't really look all that concerned... but that's just kinda how he is.]
no subject
[ Which in itself is a little worrying... is there something keeping the wildlife where they are? It's altogether a baffling situation. ]
It feels like we're missing something important.
[ Not that she really has any idea what that could be, obviously, aside from the general malaise and foreboding. The fact Mephisto is so laissez-faire about it is equal parts admirable and infuriating. ]
no subject
[Could it be a planet-wide phenomenon? As far as he knows, the Nysa Isles are the only landforms on the planet itself. And even it remains unexplored by refugees in its entirety.]
But it does seem curious... though I'm well aware that the people of Nysa are highly superstitious, it seems strange to me that even the leaders would believe the resurrection of an ancient dragon were possible. I certainly don't doubt it, having seen rather similar instances back in my own world-- but it does make me wonder whether something like this has happened before.
no subject
That's... worrying. But I can understand the superstition - the dragons of Hyrule were said to be servants of the Goddesses back home. It could be similar here.
[ Sighting any of them was rare, of course, but then there was the odd soul that decided to try and approach them... which never went well. Naydra, Dinraal, and Farosh never attempted to harm anyone outright but the nature of the beasts simply made it nigh impossible to get close without the intense weather driving observers away.
The crates get set down neatly with the rest with a dull 'THUMP', followed by a brief dusting off of hands, and she's off to go pick up more. ]
I can't help but wonder if the dragon itself can be reasoned with.
