[ It's funny that Rohan can leave his own room (or, Vane's room) in a mess of paper, pencils and other art supplies but when it's someone else who's leaving their shit around, he's ready to speak to the manager. While looking for a pen that he's misplaced, he's decided to intrude into Percy and Cain's room, eager to know if it's somehow in there for some reason. Who knows? Percy might have stolen it before he went to sleep. He'll overturn the house if he has to in order to find what he's lost. The annoying dog follows him as he steps into the room, and Rohan is quick to shoo her away. ]

Go, go! I've got nothing for you. [ His words seem to fall on deaf, doggy ears, and Duchess continues to follow him into the room. There's a long exhale. What he sees when he enters -- well, he can barely see anything at all with how many books seem to be piled up on the ground. ]

Who left all this here? It must be Cain. He needs to learn to pick up after himse --

[ And two steps in, Rohan trips over Cain, falling into a mess of books and paper. Duchess trots over to where his face is and starts sniffing his head, like that's somehow going to help. ]

[ At least Duchess is there to treat Rohan with the proper lack of dignity this deserves. Cain, in the meantime, is struggling a little. Mostly because during the course of being tripped over, Rohan's managed to knock one of his towers of books and paper right over onto him. There's a muffled yelp from the newly-created mountain of books. The mountain trembles. Cain's hand, all that's left of him sticking out from beneath the wreckage, grasps feebly for leverage. ]

Ow.

[ It actually is his fault for not watching where he's going, but Rohan isn't about to admit that. It's much easier to blame Cain for what happened. He peels himself off of the ground, looking disheveled with his headband falling over his eyes, and gives the dog a disapproving look before rising to a kneel.

Also? He doesn't really care that he just buried Cain under his own books. Sorry. ] That's you isn't it, Cain? I know Percival isn't around right now. [ He can only see one (1) hand, and Vane's hands are kind of large so it can't be Vane underneath all those books. ]

Why did you leave such a mess? It's blocking the passageway! [ As he speaks, he's also arranging his headband and hair back into place. Rohan has to look his best at all times, even when at home. ]

[ Cain's pretty used to Rohan by now, which means that he doesn't expect any help extricating himself from the fallen tower of books. Which also means that he doesn't feel bad at all for making Rohan wait for an answer until he's safely pulled himself free, brushed himself off, and gotten himself situated again in the middle of his small fortress of research materials.

This time, he has Duchess in his lap to be petted, since she's a good dog and was clearly just coming to check on him, and only then does he finally sigh and look up at Rohan. ]

You know, this is my room... [ He says it prosaically, not expecting that to matter to Rohan. It hasn't mattered all the times that Percival's yelled it at Rohan, after all. ] But since you're curious, I'm trying to find a way for us to beat Ysverai.

[ He says it matter of factly, like it's a perfectly reasonable thing for him to be doing. ]

[ As Rohan waits for Cain to respond to him, he starts to get impatient, crossing his arms and tapping his foot. He only stares at the dog, not so pleased with the fact that the dog is getting attention over him. Um, that's like, rude? He's right here.

Cain's actual cause is one worthy of listening to, however. ] Oh? That's definitely worth listening to. Okay, what have you found? Tell me.

[ The dog is both better behaved and more lovable than Rohan.

Just saying. ]

I haven't found it yet. [ Cain gives Rohan a long, pointed stare. ] That's why I'm still researching. Though there are all these references to the light of Thesa in the original battle with the High Dragons, divine intervention that allowed the humans to have a chance against them... I'm pretty sure that's a good lead, but I still have more work to do before I can see if it pans out. [ He adds, deadpan: ] And you just knocked over all my notes.

[ Mostly it's for a token effort. He's pretty sure he's not about to get an apology here. ]
