Who: Reinhardtzar (
reinhardtzar) & anyone/everyone!
What: Nadril shenanigans, some in tandem with the intro log
When: Second half of July
Where: Nadril
Warning(s): tomfoolery
a frozen land
[ the journey to nadril is nothing short of tumultuous — reinhardtzar, even with a build reminiscent of a brick house, slows from time to time. he proceeds with relent no less, ferociously trudging through the snow.
the sky darkens. the storm rages.
in his hand, a flame manifests. he holds it out in front of you. ]
Tch. Wouldn't do us much good if you froze to death, now.
[ a beat. ]
Making camp isn't all too wise right now, but a break seems to be in order.
⟿ the cantina
[ reinhardtzar kicks back, a pint of ale in hand. he's alight with the buzz of alcohol, and is therefore a bit more approachable than usual ]
Oi. Have a drink with me. Could use the conversation.
[ he gestures a pint towards you. ]
Feels like we were caught in a war only days ago, huh?
⟿ ice fishing
[ oh, a strong suit of his.
reinhardtzar appears to be thoroughly immersed...oh wait, he's grappling with a fish. damn, this thing is somehow putting up a fight against 7 feet worth of muscle — andddd...
there he goes, plummeting into the ice. ]
Damn it!
⟿ the caves
[ his gaze is soft. fingers comb through the leaves of flora and fauna alike, treating them with utmost care. his visits to these caves and the gardens they hold are frequent — the wave of calm that washes over him each and everytime is worth indulging. ]
If you were looking to purchase something, I'm no merchant...I was checking in is all.
[ there's a thoughtful pause. ]
This is the only patch of green in the entirety of this city, isn't it...

He's in good company after all, with someone he can trust to watch his back. ]
Making it through that snowstorm felt like a couple wars. Considering how hard they try to keep people out, the warm welcome is a surprise.
[ He gestures a little, smoke from his drink drifting towards Reinhardtzar, his concoction, the cantina, Nadril as a whole encompassed as the warm welcome. ]

We've proven ourselves to them. It's only natural that we're rewarded for it — anyone willing to trudge through an icy hell just to take refuge in your homeland is owed a drink or two, I'd say.
[ he downs a pint, draph anatomy and all. ]
For a second, I was worried that you were going to freeze over back there. Here's to hoping you can hold your liquor as well as your defenses.
no subject
[ It's not real pouting, Cain feeling too warm and relaxed to put the effort into it, but he does make a mock attempt, just to return the teasing compliment. Just because Reinhardtzar's there, he curls his lip, just enough to blow a little of the steam from his drink at Rein, watching with delight as it turns from red to blue to purple in midair before dissipating. ]
And who knows, with this stuff. [ Cain sounds thrilled by the prospect. ] If I can't, I'm counting on you to see me safe to bed.
no subject
reinhardtazr gives him a look, dead eyed, entirely unfazed by the steam. ]
I wanted to see how you'd manage. [ there's something of a grimace. ] And you fared fine, as always. You've got a likeness to a roach.
[ he leans into his palm. warmth flickers into his eyes, maybe. ]
Heh. We'll see. I might make you trip over yourself a few times first.
no subject
Cain returns that dead-eyed look with a bright smile, a little more multi-colored steam leaking out the sides of his mouth. It's a warmer expression, not quite so teasing, more genuine. Real emotion, heartfelt, beneath it. ]
A roach, huh... That's not too bad. They're almost impossible to kill, so at least if I'm like one, I won't make anyone cry.
no subject
Doesn't mean you should get cocky. [ and then he takes a swig of his ale. ] You've got the tenacity of a pest, that's certain.
[ there's a sigh — still, his eye is alight with a warmth. something compels him to ruffle cain's hair, just a bit. ]
Back in Torhid, we'd go through a few drinking games after a good fight. Some insisted it was stress reliever, but I'd wager it was the opposite more often than not.
[ a beat. ]
Truth or dare. You start.
no subject
Ah... you'd even play them with your superior officers?
[ He can't help the soft note of yearning in his tone, the sudden hunger that has him prevaricating a moment before he starts the game. The real question he wants to ask: did you do this with my brother? ]
no subject
reinhardtzar smiles to himself, as small as it may be. it's a feeling he understands well. ]
When they were willing. [ the corner of his lip quirks up. ] Your brother didn't always hold his liquor well, but he liked to pretend that he did.
[ an eye flickers down towards his ale, and then towards cain. ]
Let's see if you're any different. That was your truth. Here's my dare — think you could chug that drink of yours in one fell swoop?
no subject
[ That earns Reinhardtzar a full-on pout. But... fair's fair. And fine, he'd been planning on agreeing to play anyway. And he did get to learn something about his brother that he didn't know. He'd been too young to really ever see his brother out with the men, going to bars.
He huffs and turns to regard his drink with some trepidation. Does he really have to down the whole thing at once...?
A snuck look at Reinhardtzar means he's going to do it, though. There's no way he's backing down and letting Reinhardtzar get the upper hand. ]
I can hold my liquor just fine. [ Maybe. With a great deal of undeserved confidence, Cain snatches up the drink, tilts it, and swallows it down. And down. There's an awful lot of it.
When he finishes finally, he slams the cup down onto the counter. And waits. He needs a second. He's feeling... very fizzy. But after a moment he recovers and turns to Reinhardtzar, pointing at his face with only a little wobble. ] Your turn! Truth or dare— Wait, I was supposed to get to choose which one I wanted!
[ Cain, meet outrage. ]
no subject
this is absolutely priceless. reinhardtzar bites back a grin. instead, he takes yet another swig of his pint and rests his head against his palm. ]
Were you? [ a smirk. ] It must have slipped my mind.
[ his pint comes down with a clack. electricity surges through him, the start of a buzz, and the room around them gradually becomes nothing more than background noise.
cain is somehow one of the most simultaneously brilliant and idiotic men he's ever met. the mark of a true soldier. it's...
fun, moments like these. fun he hasn't known in some time.
it's a spark of life, of something he's longed for.
reinhardtzar likes a challenge. so naturally— ]
Dare. Try to not let your depravity show through.
no subject
[ Things are... a little fuzzier around the edges than Cain would like. But there's no way that he's going to admit that. He can still focus, and maybe his thoughts are a little hard to hold onto, but he's sure that if he just stays very, very still for a bit, he'll be able to overcome whatever was in that drink. That he just had a lot of. All at once.
He's fine. He's sitting down anyway. And besides, he's not letting Reinhardtzar get out of it. ]
I didn't get to choose, so you don't get to choose for this round, either. You're doing truth. Why did you decide to join us? Join Idelva? And don't tell me it was because you had no choice — I know you and your pride, you'd have rather died if you thought it was worth it.
⟿ ice fishing
in general, talk of food tended to hype vane up. in a way it was kind of a constant in any world. home, olympia, wyver, even in thesa. it's a semblance of comfort in a sense, and so it's not surprising that the fishing community found in nadril managed to pique his interests. curiosity sparked, he decided to take a trek down there.
as with the tech, the natives seemed relatively receptive to the idea of renting out their equipment, and hence with all of it in hand vane heads out towards the ice for some ice fishing. what he doesn't expect to see is a familiar face. ] Reeeeein! [ he shouts loudly towards his back, and just like reinhardtazer...
disappears from his view. vane thought it seemed like he caught something, but who knew it would straight up topple over the large man straight into the ice. whatever he had on the other line must have been amazing, but more importantly!! he sprints over, jumping onto the ice with his chets flat against it as he just barely grasps onto ...
his leggy? ] Rein! [ uh, he seems to try and correct his grip, doing his best to try and grab onto more of him. ]
no subject
anyways, something akin to a...squeal? astrals, what the hell was that...sounds from a distance before the world around him becomes white noise.
draph anatomy is a curse — he feels himself sinking at an alarming rate, arms splayed out in an attempt to tether himself...
until something pulls at his leg.
his head bobs up, and the back down. ]
Bl— [ he hates this. ] Pulgh at an— [ this is the worst. ] angle!
[ vane will find himself...slowly edging forward towards the water...oops. ]
a frozen land!
... What the hell am I supposed to do with that?
[Was he supposed to just take it? Or was he expected to huddle in close? Like hell he was doing that.]
And shouldn't we at least find a mountain-side or something to block the snow before we take any sort of break?
no subject
[ listen...he's not a cuddler, if that's any consolation...
that next comment warrants something of a grimace and a sound that's the midway point between a grunt and a snort. ]
Don't think we're going to find one at this rate. Hardly anything's visible.
no subject
[Yeah.
His mind went straight to the image of cuddling. Thanks for that big guy.
None the less he did seem to be hovering a little closer to you, even if he wasn't directly warming his hands up against the flame. Being around some sort of heat source was still a welcome offer.]
Even less of a reason for us to stop. The way this snow is coming down we may just end up getting ourselves buried. And resting in this weather without a proper pit or cover will just cause us to tire out. Pretty sure falling asleep is the last thing any of us should do right now.
[Don't want to not wake up again.]
no subject
[ a beat. ]
I can hold out the flame as we trudge onward for another 30 minutes. Sound feasible enough?
no subject
[... Okay. He'll allow this amount of kindness at least. With that, he comes in a little closer. Huddling close as he walks side-by-side to the larger man.]
I'm fine. Or at least well enough all things considering. It's far from my first time surviving through such weather.
Although I must admit, I don't think the training simulations up on the Orbiter were anywhere near enough to prepare those who haven't been through this before.
[He was pretty certain someone was bound to die in the middle of all this.]
