Remember me, once in a while (OPEN)
Who: Diva (
colorature) & YOU
What: Diva finally realizes two of her favourite humans (JJher husband and Eggsy) have fallen back asleep. She's throwing a fit(?) over it...because what is normal, functional coping???
When: Mid-August
Where: Olympia
Warning(s): Small vampire queen throwing a tantrum. Uhh...blood/gore...eating her feelings...yeah. She's a vampire, after all! Will be updated if need be.
TARGET PRACTICE
[It's funny, just how much she cares.
Perhaps that's why she's so furious, more so at herself than the fact two of her favourite humans had been put back to sleep. At first she'd found it odd that neither of them had wished her a happy birthday or hadn't bothered to attend. Sure, she only half thought (half-hoped, really) that JJ would've shown his face at her party but at least Eggsy would've. He'd seen what she was capable of, the true height of her ferocity and carnage and he hadn't been afraid of her.
JJ had though, understandably. She can't fault him for that...but she can find fault in everything else, including herself. Just when she thinks she has things figured out she's hit with a setback, a blunt, honest reminder of what she is and that at the end of the day she's just trying to play a part and fit in. Even then she's not doing a very good job of it. Sure, the natives don't seem to mind her fangs and those who don't know about her diet pay her no heed...but eventually the end seems to be the same. Some are frightened or they leave her side.
Why did she have to care?
It was so much easier when she saw humans as food and nothing more - completely and utterly beneath her. Sure, there were a few brilliant ones she could appreciate, like those great musicians and composers who penned the pieces of music she was so fond of. Sure, she wouldn't deny the triumphs or accomplishments of the human race, but she sure as hell was jealous of them.
Perhaps it wasn't so much jealousy anymore that she held. That feeling had waned when she'd found herself here on a new planet with new opportunities and chances. If anything the prevailing feeling now was one of loneliness if not fear. A fear that stemmed from not wanting to be lonely in the first place.
People are still in the process of cleaning up Olympia, of building things back up to their original splendor. It'll take some time and so a little more disorder here and there will go unnoticed. At her feet is a pile of rubble, stones from various buildings that may or may not be left standing anymore. Her target is across from her - a lone standing brick wall - that she's decided to whip the rubble at, watching with a blank, muted expression as pieces of debris goes flying. Her hands are dirty from digging around, her white dress equally stained. She doesn't care though, she never has. After all, she's always a mess. Part of her wonders if it would be satisfying to throw one of her makeshift projectiles at someone's head, just to see what would happen...but she sticks to her wall instead. It's best to steer clear of her path, lest you end up an unfortunate victim of a flick of her wrist gone wrong.]
EATING YOUR FEELINGS
[She hadn't meant to kill him.
Having lead a man she'd picked up wandering about the Red Light district to the outskirts of the forest, Diva had drunk her willing victim dry. He had struggled, of course, once he realized her appetite wasn't going to be sated by a single sip, but his fetish had turned into a living nightmare far too quickly for him to act against her. (Not that he'd ever have a chance in Hell in the first place.)
It's not that she feels sad for him that she finds herself crying, mouth bloody as she sits under a tree, back up against a sturdy trunk. The body of the nameless man is nowhere to be found - she'd gotten rid of it (read: tossed it up into the higher branches of another tree for scavengers to finish off). All that's left is one of the man's humerus bones, stripped of flesh and currently being stress-gnawed on. Her knees are tucked close to her chest, her long, black hair pooled around her. Hadn't she promised Cain that she'd try to do better? That she wouldn't let her instincts get the best of her? This is exactly the kind of macabre behaviour she'd tried to mask from JJ in the first place, only for him to get a front seat to a horror show of complete and utter carnage.
But what does it really matter? Human lives were so fleeting to begin with.
She's somewhat tucked away in the trees but not far enough away that it isn't impossible to stumble upon her as she sniffles and chews. If you do though it's best to err on the side of caution. She could very well still be hungry, especially when she's essentially just eating her feelings at this point.]
GOING BATTY
[It's late. Diva should be in her nightgown and tucked away in bed. Is she? Of course not. Instead she can be found climbing the wreckage that hasn't been cleared away, hopping from rooftop to rooftop, only to dangle herself dangerously off the edge of a roof of what appears to be a small, now hollowed out chapel. She's sitting at least while her legs hang over, swinging carelessly, bare heels whacking against the brick. She's people watching, not really caring whether or not she's seen. Of course, the sight of a girl who looks like she just might push herself willingly off the edge of a roof is cause for concern to anyone who might spot her, but she seems content to stay put in place.
From up here things look different. Not just literally, of course, but for now that's what she's focused on. Her new perspective has her pointing to the ground if you pass by beneath her. She may be more akin to a demon in nature but in this particular moment she may act like your guardian angel.]
Watch out for the hole to your left-! The ground'll swallow you up if you fall down there.
[She's already seen it happen to a few unfortunate animals earlier on when the sun had begun to set. She knows what she's talking about.]
WILDCARD
[I'm down to do a personalized starter or leave me something and I'll roll with it!]

WILDCARD
[I'm down to do a personalized starter or leave me something and I'll roll with it!]
😼
Still, when the noise persists, and Daifuku comes up the stairs, proving the cub's innocence in whatever's happening in the kitchen, Atsushi goes to check it out anyway - just in case. Peeking in through the doorframe, he relaxes immediately, smiling.]
Diva-chan... You should have said you were here. I could have made you some tea.
[Not that she can't make her own, probably, but. It's the thought that counts?]
no subject
Would Atsushi leave too, if he saw her bathed in blood, devouring victim after victim?
That thought deserves another cookie, as she pointedly stuffs one into her already plump cheeks. Just...give her a moment to swallow...
Or at least chew enough that she can talk.]
I didn't know I was coming.
[Which is only a half truth in a way. Her legs are still swinging, ankles hitting off the door of the cupboard beneath her with a soft thud.]
Will you still make me some?
no subject
Of course.
[Tea is important. It might also keep her from choking on those cookies, which seems to be a serious risk right about now.
So Atsushi puts the kettle on, rummaging about for cups and the tea.]
Was there anything you wanted? Not that I mind if you just wanted to drop by, of course!
no subject
[Comes the cookie muffled reply as she struggles to swallow what she'd stuffed in her mouth. She manages to succeed after a moment, wiping her mouth with the back of a hand.
Maybe she should edit reiterate.]
I want you. To see you.
[Off the counter she slides, letting her bare feet hit cold tile as she takes a few steps his way. Her shoes are somewhere near the front door - she actually used the door this time.]
I wanted to make sure you hadn't left me too.
no subject
... Have people left again?
[So much keeps happening, he keeps being slow to realize people are gone. It makes him feel like a terrible friend.]
no subject
[A husband, bridegroom and friend all over the span of who knows how many days. Not many, as far as she's aware. There's a bitter chill to her voice as she speaks, syllables laced with ice.]
JJ's scared of me now so good riddance and Reign never came when I needed him most so he's as good as dead to me now. Eggsy is asleep.
[Well...they're all asleep, but only Eggsy seems to not be on her shitlist. She takes another step forward, reaching out to snag the front of his shirt on her nails, fingers curling into fabric.]
You can't leave me too.
no subject
[JJ is a loss, sure, but he was so close to Reign... and what of his pet? He'll have to look into that later. Eggsy, Atsushi had never really gotten to know.
He understands Diva's anger, and he shares her pain, but her fierceness still surprises him a bit. It shouldn't - different people have different ways of mourning - but... well, if nothing else, it makes it hard to comfort her. And he does want to make her feel better if he can.]
I won't. That is: I don't plan to...
[He doesn't want to make a promise he can't keep. He really doubts that Reign wanted to leave, any more than Atsushi does - yet here they are.]
no subject
You better not...someday you'll leave me because you'll die...but until then you can't.
[Morbid much? Maybe just a tad. Her nails catch on his shirt as she moves to encircle him with her arms. The embrace is a tight one as she squeezes him, pressing her face into his chest.]
no subject
But everything else he can do for her, he absolutely will. Surprise has slowed his response a second or so - much, much too long - but when he finally realizes that what Diva wants is a hug, he wraps his arms around her in return, holding her gently.]
I won't. [It's still not a promise he can really make, but it's easier to say the words now, deciding that his intent and what she needs from him are more important than the detailed facts.] I really don't want to.
no subject
Atsushi returns the embrace and she's glad for it. He always indulges her and is careful not to push her away. At least he's making an effort.
His answer gets a small sound out of her before she pulls her face away and eventually the rest of her follows suit. She has something to give him, after all. Atsushi won't even have a chance to ask what it is before she's pulling the simple yet fashionable collar she had gotten for him out of the bag.]
I got you this. The shopkeeper said that if you wear it you're mine and you can't ever leave me.
[Looks like something was lost in translation...]
no subject
Oh look, it's a gift bag, containing a... collar. A collar..? It's kind of big to put on Daifuku, though... Of course, Diva does say it's for Atsushi, but he still doesn't connect the dots until her words sink in. He's really not sure what kind of shop she went to, but he still presumes there's been a misunderstanding if anything.]
I... think those are only for pets, though...
[Pets and Chuuhuahuas.
It's not like he's saying no, but there's definitely been some kind of misunderstanding, so he wants to clear that up before anything else!]
no subject
[Please explain. Inquiring minds wants to know. She's frowning then, arm dropping at her side as the collar dangles between her fingertips.]
Did she lie to me...?
no subject
[It's a good question! It's also a question for Chuuya, not for Atsushi. And it's definitely a question that Atsushi is never going to ask Chuuya, because while he never really thought about Chuuya's collar before, now it's suddenly weird.]
I don't mind wearing it for you, if that's what you want! I just think... if I stay by your side, it's because I want to, not because a collar makes me.
[... He should probably be concerned about it being a magical collar, really. But he's still stuck with pet thoughts.]
no subject
[She sets it down on the countertop with a huff, pouting. Had there really been any point in buying such an item in the first place, if it wouldn't work?]
I don't want you to leave...you're mine.
[A reiteration, more so for her own comfort than anything else.]
no subject
Besides, Chuuya has one, too. So clearly it isn't as weird as Atsushi thought.]
I won't leave. [Calling himself hers is a little much, but he can at least say this much. He reaches for the collar, to put it around his neck.] There we go...
no subject
Right?
It doesn't make her feel better, not in the way she'd hoped it would, but she soon finds herself sliding up against him once more, arms hooked loosely around his waist.]
It looks better than Chuuya's...
no subject
Really? Thank you.
[Ohhh, he looks better than Chuuya! (That's not what she said...) Nice.]
no subject
It's easy to hang off him like this. She's had years of experience doing so with Amshel, only he was quick to always return the embrace or comfort her. It isn't that Atsushi won't do the same, but their relationship is different.
Amshel wasn't lover material, for better or worse. (Definitely the former.)
Cocking her head to the side she regards him quietly, taking a moment to recommit his features to memory - the little brade, the slope of his nose and the two toned color of his eyes...they're all nice things. Pleasant things.
She tightens her hold around his waist, just a little.]
Hey Atsushi...do you think I'm a desirable person?
[Not a good person but at the very least one that could be wanted by many. The slope of her nose and shade of her eyes was pretty too, after all...but did it make up for the other flaws she had? And really, there were many...]
no subject
Atsushi's eyebrows move up at her question. Somehow, he didn't see that coming.]
I do...? You're very pretty, and -...
[Speaking without thinking, he almost says something kind of embarrassing. But then, why not say it? They're lovers, after all.]
Well... you feel nice.
[Being lovers doesn't mean his face can't suddenly resemble a lobster, it seems.]
no subject
She knows she's pretty but to hear that she feels nice well...feels nice to her.]
You know, you can ask things of me, right? You can be greedy with me.
no subject
I know. [It just feels weird to be greedy - and not in a good way. Sometimes it's nice just to know that he can ask something if he needs to, rather than actually asking.
Still...] Should we -..?
[It's about that time that the kettle starts shrieking in a way that feels absolutely painful after this quiet, tender moment. So much for the tea.]
no subject
She had asked for tea, after all.]
We should...if you want to. [The answer comes easy enough, as she dusts the remnants of cookie crumbs from her fingers against the skirt of her dress.] I'd rather you than tea.
no subject
THAT'S SO CUTE! He's a little overwhelmed at how loved it makes him feel. Not that he doubted she liked him, but hearing it like this is still -... he doesn't think he'll ever get used to it.]
... Me, too. I mean: you!
[He moves back to her as fast as he reasonably can, and while he doesn't quite know how to start, he decides that taking her by the hand is good enough, to begin with.]
Let's go upstairs.
no subject
Upstairs sounds like a good idea, even if Diva doesn't exactly care where they decide to go in the house. She has very little shame, of course, but for Atsushi's sake his suggestion is one she'll agree to. Besides, it's not like his room is uncomfortable to lounge in.
Up the steps they go, each one met with a bit of spring in her step. She could rush them all at once and drag him with her but it's nice to match his pace. It's nice to be lead, if only because it doesn't require too much thinking on her part.]
no subject
It makes him stupidly happy, just being together like this.
Upstairs, his bedroom is close to the stairs, and he holds open the door for her like a would-be gentleman, though his other hand keeps holding hers. He's not ready to let go just yet.]
