[He runs his fingers through his beard, and there's a touch of a laugh there, a curl of her lips because he's not wrong. He certainly doesn't look bad, teasing aside. But she's also not going to admit that outloud.
Natasha can feel it too. That unmistakable sense of something that's the same and not entirely right. His hair is a little bit of a darker shade of blonde, something different in his eyes, the jut of his jaw, and it would be jarring. Except that her world is so very messy.]
Yeah. I was up on the station for a couple of days, but other than that- [There's a slight shrug of her shoulders.] I saw Bucky.
[Maybe he can tell, the way that she watches him for a reaction. But also the way that she says that is complex, to put it mildly.]

[ This is the strangest thing he's ever about to say, but that seems to be the nature of this place: ]
In case you didn't know, there are two of 'em.

[She doesn't quite laugh, but there's a sort of exasperated humor there, because it's easier than the frustration. Which then leaves her in the strange position of trying to define Bucky without really knowing what the differences are.]
My James- The one from my world. Which I think might not be the one from yours.
[Not that he'd said the other one was from his world, but it made the most sense to her. Not that this sort of nonsense ever went by what made the most sense. It's also not hard to pick up the fondness there, although she doesn't make the point too overt.]

[ That puts into perspective which Bucky she's speaking of, and it also puts into context which world Natasha is from. Which one his Natasha, asleep again, is not.
He shakes his head. ]
Well, I'm glad you two have each other. [ He rubs his chin, which winds up with him rubbing his beard like he's a wizened old(er) man. ] You'd be right about that last bit.
The other Bucky, the Bucky you haven't met yet, he's from my world. [ Still a strange thing to say. ] And it'd explain a lot about why you and I feel ... familiar to each other even if we don't personally know the other person.
Thankfully Bucky - your Bucky - helped me get used to that earlier on.

[She keeps her tone casual enough, but it's a rough thing to come to terms with, especially for someone like her, whose done so much, fought so much to try and save it.
There's a bit of a look when he says that he's glad they have each other- something a little fond, but also maybe complicated. They're still working it out, and even if she's staying with him- well, maybe that's a little complicated too.]
Well, I'll keep that in mind. I'll say hello if I see him. [She honestly hates this alternate-world nonsense, but she's adjusting. More or less.] Back home you were on the very short list of people I trusted. Still counts for something, I think.
