Moira - Weird science
As her scientist friend approaches, Allura offers a small nod of greeting.
"The spot I had in mind isn't too far from here, if you don't mind."

Besides, she was far from out of shape. She had been someone who had been, and was even still willing to be, on the front lines. That meant she had to be in shape enough to actually do that when necessary. For that reason a walk was nothing at all.
"Please lead the way."
no subject
In the mean time- "Thank you for meeting with me for this." Even though she's sure she's sating Moira's curiosity as well, "I have had some... unexpected surges of power. It doesn't seem to be entirely under my control yet."
As an afterthought, "But it shouldn't be dangerous for you."
no subject
Perhaps it would enlighten her on how it was possible for a simulation to provide such a thing. There had to be some sort of energy being used but what it was she couldn't say just yet. So best to explore what the powers were first.

Their walking eventually leads them to a barren patch of dirt. It stands out quite obviously against the greenery around it, as if something had just painted a brush over the spot and made it incapable of growing life. Yversai's doing. One of his many marks left behind on the planet, "We're here."

When they arrived, she looked around before collecting a sample of the dirt. It could be useful to know about it for later. It wasn't her usual area of expertise but in this case she didn't want to leave anything a mystery.
Sample collected, she looked to Allura. "Where do you need me to stand?"

Energy like quintessence flows under her skin, buzzing and swirling through her in a familiar way, starting from the core of her being, then down her arm, through her fingertips and into the ground. Visibly, there’s not much to see at first, but soon the grass at Allura’s fingertips starts growing exponentially, soon growing past where her hand lingers until the weight of it causes the stalks to bend. The smallest of buds begin to erupt from the ground, curling into flowers, like a time-lapse video brought to life. There’s even a small amount of grass that begins to creep into the dead parts of the dirt, and when Allura opens her eyes, she smiles.
“So my idea may work after all.”

Moira stepped closer and knelt near Allura so she could investigate the plants. They appeared to be healthy and real. Just advanced from the stage they'd been in. It was difficult to say if they'd been pulled from nothing or if Allura had simply encouraged their growth. Questions would help reveal that.
"Did you encourage the growth of these plants?"
Because what would science be if there were no questions?

Moira wasn’t around for the dragon’s attack, but even for the newer refugees, Yversai’s influence was as obvious as the giant stone monument of it and Darma that was left behind.
“It’s not so much that I’m telling them to do anything, I just. Transfer my energy into the life around me.”
It’s a little like quintessence and Allura can’t be totally convinced that the two are entirely separated from one another. Like channeling the castle’s energy into the Balmera, just on a smaller scale.

"Does your ability require plant life to already be there? Could you perhaps plant seeds then transfer your energy to grow and feed the damaged soil?"
That was something that could be quite miraculous. And useful. Moira had already been interested in Allura before and her genetic structure but she found herself more so intrigued now that it seemed Allura had gained something very unique from this place.
And potentially quite powerful.

And it's no time like the present to try. Allura moves to the center of the swath of barren land, casting her eyes around it as memories flood back of the battle with the great beast. They were truly lucky that the Orbiters had intervened, even if she deeply questioned their motivations.
Closing her eyes, she allowed her energy to go into the earth, to nurture and give life to the ground and, sure enough, new sprouts of grass began to emerge from the dirt, not growing quite as much as what she had done earlier with the existing grass, but soon the brown was painted over with a bright green seemed as fresh and healthy as the rest of the grass nearby.

"How do you feel after doing this? Any fatigue?"
It was important to note that now.
no subject
She rubs her temple, "Just a touch, but I will be alright."
Maybe it's a little more than she's letting on, but she's handled worse, and the fatigue is almost encouraging, because, "This is similar to when I would use quintessence. Too much and it becomes physically draining."
So what are the chances that this new power has something to do with the ones she's felt so cut off from since arriving on this planet?
no subject
She could always help with the fatigue in a moment but she wanted to see what the side effects looked like for herself. How her eyes looked, the color of her skin. She even wanted to press a hand to her skin to see what the temperature was. It would do little without a base temperature but she'd manage.
"This will be important for later."

After a few minutes of Moira checking her vitals, “Did you gather the information you needed?”
no subject
Still supporting her with her right hand, she lifted her left. A mechanism rested on her palm which was easier to see now. It seemed attached to a gauntlet which glowed yellow. The tubing of the device she wore now gained a golden glow as well as a golden energy left her hand to spray onto Allura.
The result would be that Allura would find herself feeling less fatigued and more able to stand on her own. "You will still need proper rest but that will keep you from falling at least."
no subject
When it's finished, she's standing a little straighter, looking up at Moira, "Thank you." It isn't a magical cure-all, but at least it's managed to reverse a little bit of the toll that Allura's magic took on her body, "What was that you did just now?"
no subject
Releasing her, she stepped back and put her right hand behind her. Her left hand extended and a small golden spray of mist came out from the palm of her hand where a golden light rested. It was clearer now that it attached to a gauntlet on her wrist.
"This allows for more rapid healing that most methods would allow and can even be applied to healing during combat situations.]
no subject
“It is a little like the sleep chambers on board my ship- it would boost the user's own natural healing energy to dramatically increase the speed of recovery.” Looking back up at Moira, “I assume this cannot heal what the body cannot already mend on it's own, then?”
No regrowing limbs or anything like that.
no subject
She lifted her left hand to study it. "This is best used in the field. As is the other purpose of the device."
Lowering her left hand, she lifted her right now. That dead looking hand had a similar gauntlet on it but there was also a slightly different design to it. And the light on her palm was purple.
"With this I can essentially cause damage to those I recognize as my enemies."
no subject
“Are you often in... combat situations?”
Moira said she was a scientist, but science and war were not as clearly cut as some might assume. Especially among Alteans, and she assumed the same was true of other races.

And so this was how she'd chosen to do so. Not everyone approved of the methods since draining life wasn't exactly the most morally liked method. However, she wasn't at all about to pay attention to them.
With that said, she did avoid mentioning the life draining for now. If only to make sure she kept this woman on her side a little longer since she found her useful.

Despite popular opinion, fighting and peace were not incompatible concepts. It’s what Voltron was made for, and why Altean warriors trained so hard, to maintain peace and to protect others.
Another nod, this time at the area around them, “Is there anything else you would like to see? With your healing, I think I have enough energy to do more.”
no subject
Could she make them form objects? Create weapons or buildings from them? Or was it just a matter of willing them to grow and nothing else beyond that. Which was impressive enough but Moira wanted to know if there was more to this ability than just that. Something else that could turn it incredible.

Turning her attention to one of the newer blooms at her feet, she crouches and focuses on trying to get it to grow in specific ways- to make the petals larger, or the stem to grow out of proportion of the rest of the plant, but with no luck. It grows and blooms, but stays within the confines of what one would expect.
Standing up again, “Perhaps with more practice…?”
