❪ event ❫ THE DESCENT: PART ONE -- the overflow.
THE PROLOGUE
Your sleep on the night of the 15th is not a restful one, unfortunately. It’s unclear whether you are in a state of half-wakefulness, or dreaming. The voices you hear certainly sound very real.
What is it, Sael? —Is everyone asleep?! Every one, yes. Sael, it appears you do not have good news to deliver...? N-No! I don’t know how it slipped past us, but there’s something powerful coming this way. Something hostile. I can barely keep the core systems online! ... I don't know what to do... I see... and we cannot protect Thesa and Alria in addition to transferring the Refugees to Olympia. This force, they waited for this moment. They knew I have been Intervening, and that I have become weak from such Interventions— ... We've been had. It cannot be helped. To save the Refugees on the Stations, we must eject the awoken unto El Nysa. My remaining energy shall go into shielding Thesa— left defenseless, every being we have saved on this station will perish... Sael, where is the ideal location for the landing? Hmm. There aren’t any people within a ten mile radius of The Outlook, and there shouldn’t be any for a few more days. I think that’s the best location right now. Very well. Instruct Zasere and Roman to begin preparations for an emergency eject. This is the only way we can save everyone. I am counting on you to ward off the enemy on the space front. The rest... is up to our Refugees. The alarms are blaring. It shouts against your eardrums, calling you to wake again. This time, you are in new pod, strapped down completely and cushioned tightly against the walls. In truth, you had no idea when you’d gone to sleep, but it is reminiscent of when you had been saved from the force of the Storm. A voice greets you when you come to, while the conversation between Darma and Sael is still fresh on your mind. Despite their voices playing like an old tune in your memory, you still know it is something that happened. Something has gone terribly wrong. You hear Darma speak, her voice loud in your head. Fellow Refugee, I wake you with regrettable news. A force equal to our own is attempting to engage Thesa, no doubt to steal the souls contained here. My energy is near depleted with this last Intervention, so I cannot send you to the grounds safely as originally intended. However, there is hope yet. This power shall instead shield Thesa and Alria — and believe in me when I swear no one shall be hurt. Your loved ones are safe with us. THE DESCENT ![]()
Meanwhile, in the distant kingdom of Olympia, the Empress and her loyal subject discuss matters late into the night... I’ll have the results of that dragon toxin study ready for you soon, Your Highness. I just need a few helpers to— oh wow, is that a meteor shower? Oh yes, it appears so. How beautiful.. hehe. Let us thank Thesa for this blessing. GATHER YOUR BEARINGS
All in all, the descent lasts for nearly seven hours. After the deployment of the last wave of refugees, it’s only natural that you may be feeling pretty worn out.
A. Within the remains of the pods, Refugees will find basic camping supplies such as small tents, sleeping bags, and compasses. Not all of the supplies remain intact, thanks to the impact of the crash. But, sharing resources will ensure there is enough for everyone to rest for the night. Can you really in good conscience leave that stranger next to you without shelter? FINAL OOC NOTE
This INTRO event will be broken up into three parts! Please keep this in mind when plotting your threads/tag load. PART 3 Will be up on JULY 22ND, at 6 PM EST. We will not provide an additional CAPTCHA for this overflow. Players are advised to move threads to an overflow post on their character journals in the event this overflow gets close to CAPTCHA. These threads remain eligible for AC,
AC Rewards, and REP.
The NETWORK is currently down, as Sael must concentrate all of his efforts on warding off the invading force. Characters may still message each other's personal IC inboxes. Submit two (2) AC-eligible threads from this log for one (1) Natha Orbiter REP point here by JULY 31ST. Recommended Listening: Alex & TOKYO Rose

[ Not so different form any regular canine that he's encountered, then, Talking or not. Edmund chuckles obligingly and, after a quick look at their surroundings — they aren't quite secluded, but everyone has gone off in little cliques here and there as the day rolls on, with the occasional passerby eyeing them curiously — he arranges himself so he's sitting beside her, cross legged and comfortable on the soft earth. ]
You're the first white wolf I've seen, and the friendliest one yet. Wolves from my world were proud creatures. They mostly kept to themselves.
[ He continues stroking her fur as he talks companionably. ]
If only you can tell me you name. I'm certain you have one. [ Then, as an afterthought, as though he's only just remembered, ] As for myself, my name is Edmund.

Certainly, she's being gluttonous for attention, but so long as he's taking a break, what's the harm? It won't be long until she's pestering him to make sure he eats and drinks.
Hello, Edmund, she replies in her unspoken way, shifting furred cheek on the ground to let her eyes twinkle in the affirmative at him. She lifts her head, stomach and paws resting on the earth now, and does what mother wolves do: leans in to gently, gently, gently nibble his knuckles. If he were a pup, it might be one of his ears, or the joints of his legs, the end of his back. The purpose of this is quite simple, but no less meaningful to her, with what she is, or even other wolves: a display of attention, annoying affection, wolf talk for Isn't it good to be together?
And they may only be meeting, but she feels this way in regard to all life.
She's interested in what he shares about the wolves of his home, because it's been so long since she's seen others. She was there when wolves were first born into existence, of course, and they used to sing up into the sky to her, and perhaps this is where her soft spot for them started, why she chose the wolf for her corporeal vessel. Not to say she loves humans or any other being less, but it works out: true belief lies in wanting to believe, and if she had gone to earth as a human, where she could be asked what she was, and could answer with a voice, it would be like bending arms—and they could laugh at her, because if a human says to another human, "I created all of this," they'd think them mad.
No, this works out.
As for wolves, they're just about extinct now, nearly a myth in themselves, misunderstood things. Well, they were—people even chased her off and threw stones when she came down a hundred years ago, but back then, she had proven her worth, the wolf's, and upon returning, it seemed the new generation wasn't holding any grudges, but still, she had encountered plenty of dogs, but no wolves. Animals no more good or evil than the next, only trying to get by like everyone else.]

Indeed, not like the other wolves, [ he affirms, almost to himself. ] Though it would have been interesting for you, if you've met them.
[ He smiles, an edge of mischief to his tone, his smile curved upwards slightly. ]
Tell me, have you ever met a beast that could Talk like humans do?

He asks, and her thoughts immediately, blithely, go to Rocket, but then she stills, all solemn suddenly. Perhaps their raccoon fellow refugee would be unhappy to know he lit up in her mind when this young man spoke the word inquired about "beasts" with human speech, but while she's met sparrows who could talk too, they weren't usual sparrows you'd find in a tree: they were the size of people, a race all their own. Not unlike Vorin, who possibly could be considered as someone else she's met like this, but Rocket and Vorin are different from her, incredibly similar to humans, almost more like humans than the animals they resemble.
She's odd from them in that she's not human at all herself, but even between the god and wolf, not half and half, but both existing within her in the same amount of quantity, she behaves more like a wolf, not inclined to ignore her instincts, but still thinks like the Mother she's always been. Sometimes the wolf is driven to certain mannerisms because of the mother's heart, and sometimes the mother becomes aggressive, or vicious because of the wolf's. They coexist, no more or less than the other. But Rocket and Vorin… they wear clothes, they use tools, they seem to have some grasp on human-created society.
With small sigh, partial whimper, her head tilts—she isn't sure how to specify she's met a raccoon who speaks, and prefers mobility on two legs to four, and is oh-so much like a human, but perhaps it'll be enough for Edmund to know she's met at least one being like this.]
no subject
[ The specificity might have been nice, but Edmund is content with the knowledge that it's possible in other worlds outside of Narnia — indeed, he might even be pleased to know that it could happen in this world. But for now, the simple actions and reactions she's giving him is enough.
With Rocket, and Vorin... if he's lucky he might find out the rest later. ]
Well, in Narnia, most of the creatures can talk. The birds, canines, cats... you name it. They live in harmony with humans, and other magical creatures like the satyrs and the nymphs. [ His smile turns wistful. ] It was a beautiful place.
