The "L" Word
Who: Phoenix Wright (
objectionattorney) & Miles Edgeworth (
milesedgelord)
What: A Talk Is FInally Happening. Feelings Are Finally Being Expressed. Confessions May Finally Be Made.
When: 9/25
Where: Lawyer House - Olympia
Warning(s): A lot of fluff and angst
[It was just another day like always. Nothing special. Nothing out of place. Phoenix finally had a day off from working over at the Southern Outposts Coalition. It's recovery efforts post-Ysverai's attack leaving few breaks very far between.
Not that Phoenix wasn't used to such work. This type of job was something that he was used to, something he enjoyed. But sometimes, simply being in your own home and taking a moment to relax was nice.
He was sprawled out on the couch in the living room. His outfit matching something more akin to his days back during the Dark Age of The Law. Sweats and a hoodie were something comfortable after all, something that would be easy to take a nap in should the urge to konk out cold come over him.
The room was otherwise quiet and uneventful, only occasionally off-put from the squawking noises which came from the large bird perched on its stand in the corner of the room. A book in his hand seeming to be his only source of entertainment. Whatever it was in it appeared to fully invest his interests.]
Huh... Did you know that there's a dog traveling around this city somewhere that's a species entirely of its own? Super rare to find too. It's...*pfft*-- Hey Miles! You should come to look at this!

He was busy hanging up their laundry in the front room when Phoenix called him over, hurriedly handing the last pair of suit pants. He was going to iron and put them away later.
Pushing his bangs from his face he plopped down next to him with a soft sigh. His dog scrambled to climb onto the couch as well.]
What?

[Leaning in close, Phoenix curled up upon Miles, pushing the open book towards him. What appeared upon the page was a large detailed painted illustration of what appeared to be a bulldog wearing sunglasses.
Phoenix's eyes meanwhile continued to look at Miles, focused on him in hopes to gage some sort of reaction.]
They call him "cool dog".
no subject
This is ridiculous. That is just a pitbull with sunglasses on. Why are they writing about it as if it is some sort of cryptid?
By that logic, I can place a pair of sunglasses on Pess here. Would he be a "cool" dog then?
[Pess hopped up onto Phoenix's lap and barked enthusiastically.]
no subject
[Obviously Pheonix needs to get better at figuring out his dog breeds.]
Maybe it's rare because pitbulls don't naturally exist here in El Nysa. Maybe it's from someone else's world like some of the other pets that we brought along.
[And almost as if on cue did Polly chirp out from her perch n the corner, her large wings flapping upwards as she turned her head to preen at the feathers on her neck.]
Still... Doesn't explain the sunglasses...
no subject
That would make a good amount of sense if that was the case.
[His attention moved over toward the bird. It was odd to think that that bird was the very same one as the one who saved his life and that she would randomly appear in their home at this time was even more bizarre. He didn't really like to think too much on his life back then, but he owed both her and Phoenix everything.
Miles' expression softened and he looked over at his friend who was still absorbed in the book he was holding. In all truth he was worried about him, Losing both the dragons heart and Venom was a hard hit for him. But he just seemed to move over things without addressing anything and continued on as always...
He hadn't pressed him too much about it, knowing Phoenix probably needed a bit of time, but he was worried that he would continue to push himself past limits. His hand moved toward his friend's and squeezed.]
Yes, I suppose.
no subject
[Phoenix was a bit surprised at first to feel Miles's hand reach out and take his own, but upon noticing it he only smiled and squeezed his friends hand back affectionately. It was true that quite a lot had been weighing on him as of late, and he had been pushing it aside, but thankfully with how busy his life had been, it made it easy enough to forget about past pains. He just had to keep working and making up for it all.
He failed in his mission with the coalition, so he was taking personal responsibility in recovery efforts. He had lost Venom, but it meant he had to appreciate what time he had with Miles all the more.
And with that realization he could not help but move in a little closer, his attention parting away from the book as he leaned back and lightly brushed his lips against Miles's.]

He wrapped his thick arms around him, finally regaining some of the muscle after months of eating better and training. He hoped he could make him feel comforted and offer him what safety he could. He kissed him back, gently. His eyes fluttering shut as he leaned into him.
After a few minutes, he broke away and placed a few small kisses against his temple.
In a sense, this type of domestic affection was rather new to him.]
no subject
Miles that tickles...
[And as if to emphasize that fact, he lazily reached up and playfully swatted at the other man.]
no subject
[He smiled, as he ducked back from his friend trying to swat at his face. He ducked lower, now sending out a full frontal assault of neck kisses, arm wrapped tightly so he couldn't escape.]
Mmm...Better than a belly attack I suppose?
no subject
[Oh no! Cornered!
Yelping out harshly with a tone of voice much higher in pitch than he usually gave off, Phoenix jumped up onto to realized how trapped he was.]
Oh my god yo---AH!-- Miles you're an-- AHAHA-- Miles stop!
[It was no use, he was weak and quickly fell prey to the other mans' sneak attack. Shaking and laughing uncontrollably to the point that he even had a few tears forming in his eyes. Polly, on the other side of the room, seemed mutually startled by the commotion as she quickly began flapping her wings while standing at her perch. Squawking out in semi-imitation to Phoenix's screams.]
Miles s-dtop! Please! I can'tahahahaha -- I can't breathe! HAH!
Miles! Miles Edgeworth! Hahahahaha!
[At least Phoenix still had his one free arm, and he was going to continue to swing it around in the attempt to bop Miles atop the head.]
no subject
When the bird joined in Miles couldn't help but laugh out, it was a rich deep laugh. He was still laughing when one of Phoenix's smacks knocked his glasses off his face.]
Hey!
Fine, I relent.
[He stopped his onslaught and pulled the other man close instead.]
That was fun. I feel like we're nine again.
no subject
[Grinning out Phoenix offered another playful push at Miles, making sure to be a little more gentle this time around.]
Who said you were allowed to pull stuff like that. Besides-- Look at how riled up you made them.
[He says while motioning over to both of their now far too overexcited pets.
None the less he seemed content as he snuggled in close, practically leaning against Miles like a lounge chair. Snuggling affectionately as he decided to place the book aside for the time being.]
Who said you're allowed to suddenly act so playful and cute out of the blue like this? Where's the uptight and grumpy man I fell in love with?
no subject
[The dog hopped up and down on Phoenix's chest and was playfully barking at Polly as she flew about.]
Pess down!
[The dog whined in protest before sitting down and staring at Phoenix instead.]
Well, you've been the one whos been grumpy lately. perhaps I have had to press upon my non-existent reserves of optimism in order to cheer you up.
[There was a long moment of silence before he looked over at him.]
...Did you just? Uh... er... Did you just say that you fell in love with me?
no subject
..................
...........................................
......................................................................................Oh.
I-I guess I just did, huh?
[A small and coy smile formed and his cheeks turned slightly red. Suddenly becoming fidgety as he decided to look over and start lightly ruffling at Pess's fur.]
I mean, is that okay? If I say that, I mean.
no subject
You did.
[Miles was silent for a good long time before replying.]
I mean, we... haven't quite talked about it.
...
...Are you certain that is how you feel?
[He looked away, he didn't know if he could handle this if it wasn't real...If he could take that type of rejection again.]
Think it through before you say it.
no subject
But this was Miles. Miles, who he knew since he was nine. Miles who was by his side through every problem he had dealt with throughout these recent days.
If he couldn't say this to Miles, was there anyone he would ever feel comfortable saying this to?]
Miles...
[Phoenix's voice was low, yet held a serious tone as he spoke. Taking a moment to look up and, for the first time this evening, really meet Miles's gaze. His large eyes directly glancing up at his lover, his hand reaching out to squeeze reassuringly at the others, as he continued his sentence.]
... I love you.
no subject
Phoenix...
[The name came out choked and heavy with emotion.]
I love you as well.
[This was his truth, that he had tried to bury for years, what he had been struggling with over the last year or so.]
I always have.
no subject
[At this point Phoenix could feel his own eyes watering over as well. Damn tears, he thought he had gotten better at holding back these overwhelming sensations. But now, here, in front of Miles, he felt like he was a boy again. That small young wide-eyed boy who had first seen and admired Miles Edgeworth with all his heart.]
S-so this is happening huh? We're really doing this, aren't we?
[Phoenix's hands were gripping Miles's tightly at this point. They felt sweaty and clammy at the same time. This was it after all. This moment was the result of all the accumulated buildup throughout all the months that they had spent side-by-side.
No.
All the years.]
We're really both admitting this.
no subject
The tears did crest, falling over his cheeks. His eyes not daring to move from Phoenix's.]
Yes. Phoenix Wright. I love you.
I'm in love with you. I've loved you since I was nine and I don't know if I can ever stop. I've never felt so certain so intensely as I have about anything as this.
I love everything about you.
[It felt so good to admit it and now that he had started he couldn't stop saying it. It was like a dam he was holding back had suddenly broken through.]
I want to do all those infuriatingly cliche things with you. I just want to hold you forever and be greedy and selfish.
I know I can be so damned selfish.
I just...You're everything to me.
no subject
[Damn it. Seeing Miles himself cry was what had done him in. His own eyes at this point watered over as warm tears fell over his cheeks.
And yet he was smiling. His body language calm as something about him emitted relief.
Because, deep down, he was relieved. He was relieved that all the stress and tension over the past few months had ended, at least partially. He was relieved that he could finally be so open with Miles in ways he wished to be since he was a kid. This was a relief more than fifteen years in the making.
That feeling that for once he could make Miles looks so happy and true to his feelings.]
It's okay to be selfish. It's okay to feel what you're feeling. It's you admitting what you need to make yourself feel happy. And, truthfully?
It's kind of flattering to know that of all things it's me that makes you feel that way.
[He gave Miles's hand another squeeze, before sitting upright and leaning in. Lightly placing a kiss upon Miles's head.]
I love you Miles Edgeworth.
no subject
Of course, you fool I feel this way. I would upend everything for you. You know that.
[He pressed his face into the kiss, placing a hand over Phoenix's and nodded. He rested his forehead against him for a bit in silence.]
Now what?
no subject
[Leaning back a little, Phoenix made himself comfortable as he mulled over those words. It was true that after all this time they were finally able to sort out how it was they had felt toward eachother, but the next step was something Phoenix hadn't really thought of until now.]
Well, I mean I guess... When people admit they like eachother, don't they start going on, well, dates and stuff?
[He shifted a little, his cheeks retaining a little bit of color as he heard his own thoughts spoken out loud.]
no subject
[Dates between them would probably not really be all that different than the type of life they already live. But, he wanted the confirmation. He had to ask him again this time.]
...Does this make you my boyfriend?
no subject
[Oh shoot, does it!? He did admit that he liked him! And Miles did admit to liking him back. And people do date when they like eachother. But to date that did mean, they had to be date-ing, didn't it?]
I... I guess it does... Doesn't it?
[Huh.
That thought was actually making him smile a little.]
I mean, do you want to, you know, be boyfirends? Or something?
[Wow he was really embarrassed right now.]
no subject
I never thought you would ask. I've been waiting with bated breath.
[His arms wrapped around him tighter, pulling him into a close and tight hug.]
That is to say...yes. I want to be your boyfriend.
no subject
Preparing to reboot. Please wait one moment.]
Y-You mean it?
[His eyes are wide, and his mouth is gaping a little, as he tries to process how easily Miles was able to say 'yes' to what he had just asked.]
You really are willing to be boyfriends with... Me?
no subject
Only you. Always you.
[There was nothing to consider. It was what he had thought about so much of his life. It was amazing to him that it was even happening to begin with. His hand cupped the side of his face gently.]
I love you Phoenix.
no subject
[And with that Phoenix had felt himself caving into his own emotions. Jumping forwards and flinging himself into Miles's arms. His embrace tight and warm and yet trembling slightly as he propped his head upon his friend--no, his boyfriends, shoulder. Taking a moment to just breath in the other mans scent and enjoy the moment.]
I love you... I just love you so much! Oh!
[And just as quickly did he pull back, his tear-soaked eyes clearing slightly as he looked up at Miles with a hint of curiosity.]
Wait... Does that mean we have to start going on dates?
no subject
I would very much like to go on dates with you and do all the ridiculously banal things that boyfriends do together. Would you give me this allowance?
[Oh. That face was damned cute. He couldn't help himself. he leaned forward and kissed him.]
no subject
Miles, I would love that. With all my heart I would.
[With that he sat up straight, looking down on his hands and fiddling with his fingers as if he were attempting to count what steps they needed to take next.]
Now I suppose the next thing would be to figure out what we should do, right? I mean, we've already done so much together. But if this is going to be our first date.. Like, our first official date as boyfriends, then it has to be something special right? But what would stand out from all the crazy things we already do? And what would we talk about? I mean, we already know pretty much everything about each other I think, and we don't want to just be awkward the whole way through... But this is going to be ingrained, in our memories for the rest of our lives, so we have to make it truly special somehow...
[Obviously he was looking far too much into all this. It was actually getting him kind of flustered.]
