Who: Danny Rand (
firetouched) & OPEN
What: Milling around the city.
When: October.
Where: Olympia.
Warning(s): TBD
[ Danny is actually pretty impressed with what Olympia has to offer. There are plenty of businesses around, places to practice skills or relax or find a job. He'll have to get a job, for sure, but right now he's more interested with getting a feel for the city. He can't just jump in. He learned that the hard way before.
You can find Danny in an number of places on any given day. Sometimes he's at the beach. K'un-Lun wasn't exactly a resort destination, and New York's beaches are fine but they're not like this. Danny enjoys just lying in the sun, or splashing in the water, or maybe you can catch him doing a series of tai-chi on the beach. Or he's at the dojos.
The bags and dummies are more than enough, but he'll never say no to a sparring partner or two.
And sometimes he's in the gardens. It's the most relaxing place in Olympia. Sitting amongst the plants and the flowers, even if there's a chill settling in the air. He ignores the benches in favour of sitting on the manicured lawns, legs crossed and eyes closed. He won't be upset if you interrupt him. ]

mmm
[ But he looks pleased, like he knows he's somehow made it a little familiar. ]
But I know how to throw a punch. That's how I feel when I get ready to fight. I figured it wasn't too different.

Would you like to try?
[ Theon wouldn’t ordinarily offer his prized weapon up so easily, but he wants to see just how Not-Loras and his expertise of maintaining calmness do with the task. Although he has something to connect the idea to now, he’s curious as to if it can automatically be tapped into. ]

[ To say Danny looks delighted might be an understatement. People generally don't invite him to do things, and he's never really had any reason to try archery. It helps that he's not afraid to be bad at it, either. ]
That'd be so cool.

If you'd like.

[ He takes the bow and the arrow, looking at them both and trying to remember how he's seen it done. Some people in K'un-Lun knew archery, but Danny had never found the time or reason to take it up. He'd watched, now and then, though, so he does his best to mimic what he remembers when it comes to nocking the arrow. ]
Uh - Like this?

[ Furrowing his eyebrows, he shakes his head. He isn’t a perfectionist. Of course he isn’t. But when it comes to archery, the one thing he was truly an expert at, he’ll always feel there’s more precision required. ]
But you’re close.
[ He steps in and adjusts the arrow slightly, making certain it rests where it’s meant to. ]
Like this.

Then I just ... Let it go?
[ Well. He knows he has to aim first, and do all the things he mentioned, maybe. Breathe. Centre himself. Like throwing a punch but not. ]

No. Then you stand perpendicular to your target, to start. Pull the bowstring back with three fingers only, and keep your elbow high. And pull the string to the corner of your mouth.
[ He is an expert after all. ]

You must have crazy shoulder strength.
[ Said as Danny pulls back the string and does his best to keep the elbow up. ]

[ Before Ramsay starved him half to death and flayed half the skin from his bones, as well as took a couple fingers for his trouble. But he’s working on it. If he tries to keep the doubts from his mind, he believes all he needs to do is get his strength back where it was.
He tries not to snort at Danny’s form, but he’s seen worse from beginners. He adjusts the man’s elbow for him and backs away, crossing his arms. ]
Go on, then.

And yeah, it's not a great shot, but it's pretty damn exciting. At least for Danny, anyway, because he lets out a delighted laugh. ]
That was awesome.
