[ Danny is actually pretty impressed with what Olympia has to offer. There are plenty of businesses around, places to practice skills or relax or find a job. He'll have to get a job, for sure, but right now he's more interested with getting a feel for the city. He can't just jump in. He learned that the hard way before.

You can find Danny in an number of places on any given day. Sometimes he's at the beach. K'un-Lun wasn't exactly a resort destination, and New York's beaches are fine but they're not like this. Danny enjoys just lying in the sun, or splashing in the water, or maybe you can catch him doing a series of tai-chi on the beach. Or he's at the dojos.

The bags and dummies are more than enough, but he'll never say no to a sparring partner or two.

And sometimes he's in the gardens. It's the most relaxing place in Olympia. Sitting amongst the plants and the flowers, even if there's a chill settling in the air. He ignores the benches in favour of sitting on the manicured lawns, legs crossed and eyes closed. He won't be upset if you interrupt him. ]

[ Danny would have understood, if she told him. Sometimes his own most calming thoughts take him to a place a long time ago, with his parents back in New York City. He's learned, though, that pain isn't something to try and deny.

For now, he just smiles, still understanding but in a different way. ]

No worries. It takes some practice. If you try a little bit every now and then, it gets easier.

[ It's a strange thing, to be vulnerable in front of someone, especially when it caught her off guard. The fact that it did work (if only for a moment) makes her look at him, more curious than before. ]

How often do you do this?

Every day. It's just habit for me. I've been doing it every day for fifteen years so, I guess it feels weird if I don't. It helps me feel more energized and more balanced.

[ Which is, you know, important when you're a living weapon with the power of a dragon inside of you. ]

I'll keep trying.

[ She actually means it? If she has to focus on that particular memory so be it, but it feels too exposing to go through whatever she might need to in front of him. Still, she feels a little bad about lying by omission. ]

I think it worked. A little. Practice makes perfect, right?

That's usually how it works, yeah.

[ He laughs. He's funny, okay?? ]

How have you been, by the way?

I've been okay, I think. Things could always be worse than living in a full house with a brother I had no idea about for twenty years and someone my mother desperately wants to be a part of our family.

[ Christ knows she needs the meditation. ]

But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just a little...overwhelming sometimes, that's all.

That sounds like a dream, you know. Suddenly having more family than you thought.

[ Take it from someone who misses his family very very much. But he smiles all the same. ]

But I get how it can be a lot. Do you and your brother get along, at least?

[ Bree smiles a little and nods. ]

Yeah. I like Fergus. He's...had a totally different life experience than I have. Sometimes it's awkward trying to figure out what, exactly, our relationship is since it's still so new. But I always wanted a brother. I just thought I'd get a younger one, not an older one.

[ And she stopped hoping for it a long, long time ago because clearly, it was never going to happen, but still. She remembers the years she hoped for it. ]
