october catch-all
Who: Danny Rand (
firetouched) & OPEN
What: Milling around the city.
When: October.
Where: Olympia.
Warning(s): TBD
[ Danny is actually pretty impressed with what Olympia has to offer. There are plenty of businesses around, places to practice skills or relax or find a job. He'll have to get a job, for sure, but right now he's more interested with getting a feel for the city. He can't just jump in. He learned that the hard way before.
You can find Danny in an number of places on any given day. Sometimes he's at the beach. K'un-Lun wasn't exactly a resort destination, and New York's beaches are fine but they're not like this. Danny enjoys just lying in the sun, or splashing in the water, or maybe you can catch him doing a series of tai-chi on the beach. Or he's at the dojos.
The bags and dummies are more than enough, but he'll never say no to a sparring partner or two.
And sometimes he's in the gardens. It's the most relaxing place in Olympia. Sitting amongst the plants and the flowers, even if there's a chill settling in the air. He ignores the benches in favour of sitting on the manicured lawns, legs crossed and eyes closed. He won't be upset if you interrupt him. ]

I didn't hear you come in. Yeah, that'd be great. I'd love a partner.

Good. I've never been as good at solo-practice.
[Which was both true and not. It was just different. It didn't make her heart race, didn't help that itch on her skin. It was about quiet and focus and feeling your own body.
Not fighting. That required a partner.]

[ He holds out his hand. Maybe the introduction isn't entirely necessary, but Danny would rather do it now and be polite than have to force it through the breathlessness that always follows a good spar. And he's pretty sure she's going to put him to task, too. Danny doesn't know many people who offer up themselves as a fighting partner unless they're damn sure of themselves. ]

[He only offers his first name so she doesn't quite put the pieces together just yet. It's a common enough name, and his looks aren't quite similar enough for her to make the jump to Immortal Iron Fist. She holds herself with a sort of easy self-assurance, an ease to how she moves to the mat.]
New here?

[ He follows her, takoing up his starting position across from her. ]
What about you? Been here a while?

[The curl of her lips is a little bit amused. She takes up an easy stance, more interested in feeling him out, at least at first. Natasha wasn't someone that took pleasure in knocking someone down, but she did enjoy someone that could keep up.]
About the same, actually. Did you hear about the dragon? I got here right after.

[ He laughs, not because it sounds weird, but because it's just ... Normal, honestly. For Danny. Maybe the ghosts are a bit weird but he fought reserructed ninjas, so. ]
I guess it's nice. Keeps me on my toes.

[If Danny ever wants someone to talk to about resurrected ninjas, Nat knows a thing or two. They kidnapped her once, and she dated Daredevil, sooo--
But she watches him with a sense of amusement, trying to get a read on him. Nice enough, and he seems genuine. Now just to see how good he is with those fists.]

[ That's a joke. He thinks it's pretty funny.
He makes the first strike, just a cautious jab to do the same thing - get a feel for her, see how she moves, how she anticipates. What her style is.]
Where are you from?
no subject
She's graceful, quick, an easy smile as she catches the side of his arm, redirecting the blow, then stepping in with a punch toward his ribs, but it's still easy for the moment.]
I'm from New York myself. Do you miss it?
[Eventually they wont be able to keep up the conversation, but for now it's comfortable.]

[ He blocks her punch, raising his leg to try for a kick to see if he can catch her unaware. ]
I was away from it for a long time. It felt like I was just starting to settle back in when I came here.
