What: The Aqours Spooky Get Yohane Magical Powers Halloween Extravaganza...which is a super extra way of saying a Halloween party. It's a Halloween party, y'all.
When: early October
Where: a local restaurant in Olympia
Warning(s): none!

The Halloween party is in the back room of a local, family style restaurant. What used to be a banquet hall is decorated with fake cobwebs, crepe paper, and garlands of pumpkins, ghosts, and cats. A lot of the decorations are hand-made, courtesy of Yoshiko and You. There's an open space in the middle for dancing and mingling, some food tables along one side of the room, and some games and entertainment on the other side. There's a table with various hats, animal ears, and crowns for people who didn't bring a costume. Most of them are made out of cardboard. There's a very beat-up boombox in the corner, obviously borrowed from somebody, playing the El Nysa version of hokey Halloween songs like "The Monster Mash" and "Flying Purple People Eater."

The food is fairly standard Halloween fair. There's a large bowl full of candy, as well as some pumpkin flavored breads and muffins. There's a large punch bowl of something that's green, but is really your bog-standard lime sherbet/lemon-lime soda combination. The oddest thing on the table is some jet black takoyaki, labeled "Tears of a Fallen Angel." The label does not tell you that these things are spicy as hell and flavored solely with Tabasco. There's enough space on the table to fit more food, should your character decide to contribute something that isn't 'way too much sugar' or 'something that will melt your tongue off.'

The Halloween games are simple enough. There's a 'pin the tail on the donkey' though you're pinning a broomstick to a witch. There's a large tub for bobbing for apples. There's also a table dedicated to touch and feel mystery boxes: you reach in blindly to touch what's inside. The labels say things like 'eyeballs' (they're really peeled grapes), 'worms' (they're really cold, cooked spaghetti), and 'hearts' (it's a peeled tomato). The party's going past the closing time of the restaurant, so enjoy some slightly spooky nonsense!

( ooc: feel free to make a starter and tag around! Even if your character didn't reply to Yoshiko's post, it's possible that they heard about the party from somewhere else or just came in from the street: Yoshiko isn't turning away anybody. )

Bless you, Yoshiko. You grabs the glass of water and downs it in a series of large, thirsty gulps, exhaling in the sort of "ahhhhh~" sound that you usually only hear in Coca-Cola commercials. "Yeah, but if you're in hell you're probably being punished, right? So it's hot for a reason. This kitchen just needs better airflow." She almost completely went along with it, that time. "Let's let them cool for a few more minutes and then bring them out? Spice is one thing, but burning your tongue's just unpleasant!"

Almost going along with it counts! Yoshiko's counting this as a win no matter what! She gives You a little nod, leaning back against the counter.

They can faintly hear the Halloween music from the kitchen. Yoshiko pauses for a moment before she starts talking.

"How do you think the party's going?" It's an honest question that she's asking.

[ayes]

"I think it's going pretty well!" You says with a brief nod of her head. "There's a lot of people, everyone's in a lot of fun costumes... and heck, they ate all of the first batch of this, so at least someone's enjoying the food!" Unless they'd taken them to use as biological weapons. "I knew that nobody'd throw a better Halloween party than you~"

At You's compliment, Yoshiko blushes a little. It's nice to hear that, especially since she put a lot of effort and work into this party. She wants this to be a great party and wants everybody to have fun...so if You thinks that people are having fun, then they probably are.

"Thanks," she says, with a little smile. "I just want people to have fun, y'know?" There's a moment of sincerity before Yoshiko goes right back on her bullshit and strikes a dramatic pose.

"Of course, if the forces of darkness see fit to bestow me a gift once all this is finished, Yohane shall not say no!"

[ayes]

Hang on. Something falls into place.

"Yoshiko-chan," You begins, her voice a little hesitant as if she's almost reluctant to bring it up. But given conversations she'd once had with the younger girl...

"...did you want to throw a party to see if you'd get powers from the Orbiters, too?"

[hellzone]

Crap. She's called out. Yoshiko almost instantly turns red and starts to get a little bit flustered.

"M-Maybe! I wanted to have the party cause it's a fun party and because I like Halloween! It's just that I won't say no if the Orbiters decide to give me powers because of that."

[ayes]

Yep. It's all clicking into place now.

"This is because I mentioned that my powers showed up after the Valentine's Day thing, isn't it?"

It makes sense. It's silly, but it makes sense.

And then You smile at her. "I think it'd be really fun if you got powers too, Yoshiko-chan! What're you hoping to get?"

[hellzone]

Yoshiko's still blushing, but she manages to answer You's question as they talk.

"Something that can keep you safe. You've got those healing powers, right? It's not any good if people hurt you when you're in the middle of helping someone."

She's played enough rpgs, she knows that you've gotta keep the cleric safe.

[ayes]

You had not remotely been expecting that answer, of all possible answers, and it takes her aback. Her eyes widen slightly, and it's her turn to have a little dusting of pink on her cheeks. "You want to protect...?" She'd never thought of Yoshiko as the type to want to do that. Or, frankly, herself as the type who needed to be kept safe. "Yoshiko-chan, that's... um, that's really sweet of you, wow."

[hellzone]

"Yohane will protect all her little demons and keep them all safe," Yoshiko points out, in a matter of fact tone of voice. "And that includes little demons who don't want to be called that."

Aka You. It's more than just the tactical mode of keeping their cleric safe: You's had to deal with an entire year of crap this place threw at her. If Yoshiko can help stop this place from throwing more stuff in You's general direction, she will.
