[ the woods had proven to be a precarious area already — makoto treaded lightly, favoring caution above all else. she was in her phantom thief garb, but opted not to ride johanna for now — for one, she didn't want to make too much noise or disturb the wrong creature's den, but she had also taken quite a toll after expending all her energy the previous day. she still felt lingering exhaustion from her extended use of johanna. today was a day for travel, but also a day to rest as best as she could — she wanted to avoid any altercations with wildlife as best she could.

unfortunately, that wasn't in the cards today. hearing a clamor from far away, she quickly jumps behind a tree, peering around it to see what was causing such a ruckus. ] Ah—

[ that's all she manages to let out before she sees two gossamer wings and fuzzy pink fur fly past her face. she tries to dive out of the way, but before she can, she sees a sparkling dust sprinkle from the air. her immediate thought is that it smells absolutely terrible. her second is that it'd be hell to get it out of her hair. glittery substances were notorious for being difficult to wash out.

those are about the last two lucid thoughts she has, because next thing she knows, she feels utterly obsessed with her tiny new friend. ] Hey, little guy.. why don't you come with me? You're just so cute!

[ she's shouting, almost uncharacteristically, and chasing after it like Alice did the White Rabbit. all she can think about is how soft its fur must feel, and how cute its little wand is. ] Stop! Why are you running?! You'll die out here. You should just come with me. I can keep you safe, and I promise I'll make you your favorite food.. always and forever.

[ To her credit, Jade's been doing more than just chasing pink moths. The journey hasn't been particularly arduous, if only because Jade's made a point to not hurt a fly on her through. She has more interest in the nature of the creatures here; nothing attacks without prompting of a sort. Whether it's a misstep or an outright instigation, Jade finds that the monsters in the woods are more peaceful that not -- mostly. It's only her experience, but she supposes that a teleporting half dog person might not have the universal experience here. Well...

Her curiosity about the beings in these parts isn't sated and it certainly increases when she spots a pink moth. It's not larger than a pup and Jade instantly falls in love with her; such pretty wings and adorable eyes... It's impossible not to adore it. She doesn't chase it through the forest. Jade's not Alice, and witches don't chase after things. They simply repeatedly appear where it's necessary for what they want. And right now, Jade's very interested in saying hi to that moth.

There's a crack of green lightning and the light's almost blinding for a moment. It's not very subtle, in the end. As a fully realize Witch of Space, moving around space is second nature for Jade. She appears, glowing white then green and then she is simply Jade Harley, standing in the middle of a clear. A twig snaps beneath her feet as she comes to, a few feet before Makoto and the moth.

She's a familiar sight! Jade raises a hand in greeting, easily. ] Hello, Makoto! Have you seen... Oh!

[ And the furry little flying friend is noticed seconds later. ] You're chasing it already?

[ jade's voice comes like a fuzz in her ears — it wafts in slowly, and only gives her pause after she continues to speak with her. if she hadn't have questioned what she was doing, she'd probably have forgotten she was there almost instantly. that's how strong her desire to capture the moth was. it certainly wasn't a very.. natural wanting. it pervaded her mind, like a sickness. ]

Jade! It's lovely to see you. [ she sounds very genuine about that. ] Help me, she's about to get away. Isn't she so pretty? Say she's pretty.

[ reaffirm her, jade. makoto flits away, off to chase the moth, assuming jade will follow in tow. the moth slips through crevices and holes in the underbrush like a sinewy vine, trying her best to avoid her assailants. she isn't in her phantom thief garb, nor does it look like she's planning to change into it — she's just giving a good ol' benny hill chase. ]

[ ...Well!

Jade knew this was going to be a strange journey - without a doubt, there was not a single thing "average" about her life. There never had been. "Strange" was simply the default for her; that's probably why she has no problem with this situation. She recognizes this is ... out of character for Makoto? Maybe? She didn't get such an impression from her, but well! Maybe it just truly is too cute to resist for her. Laughing, she does keep close, flying just behind Makoto. ]

She's pretty! Why do you want to catch her so badly, Makoto?

[ Not that Jade didn't have the same idea. Hm. ]

I.. don't know?

[ this is the first moment of disorient for makoto — the first time jade can probably pick up on her confused state. she doesn't stop chasing, though, her stride as insistent as it had been this whole time. ] I feel like I need to. To protect her! Or something. [ she's starting to babble. makoto is a logical person — she's beginning to measure out her actions, process why she's giving such hot pursuit to this flitting moth. ] Jade, I can't stop.

[ Hmmm. Jade is finding this more and more interesting by the moment. She's a scientist, after all. She sees Makoto's... distress? She's not sure how she'd call it, but she knows she won't last long flying around, so Jade teleports a few feet in front of her, again, and stands still. ]

Makoto, don't worry, I want to catch her as well! She's very curious, I think, but also afraid of us!! So we need to um, maybe not approach her so.... suddenly?

[ When Makoto flits past her, Jade runs to keep up. She's decently in shape, so it's not a terribly difficult thing for her. Thank god for island living. ]
