❪ event ❫ THE DESCENT: FINAL PART.

WELCOME TO OLYMPIA
At last, you've made it to Olympia. The road leading up to the Olympia's grand North Gate is all cobblestones; there are more people around, more guardsmen on patrol. You see towers in all corners of the land; up there, you can make out men and women in armor, equipped with archers and rifles. There's someone by the gate reminding you to have your passport ready — do you remember where you'd put that?

Regardless, the line moves much faster than at the Outpost because of that piece of paper. Maybe it's not so useless after all.

"Welcome to Olympia," he says.

Before you know it, the guardkeep slaps a patch on your chest; to your surprise, it reads:
Hello! My name is
________________!

I am in House #___!
Are you my housemate?
... No matter how much you try, there's no removing this sticker. "It'll come off tomorrow," says the guardkeep. "Lots of refugees here, limited housing. It's an easy way to get to know the people you're living with."

If someone greets you, the message on the patch will magically change:
My hobbies are ____, ____, and ____!
What are yours?
There's no telling how they'd known these things, but it likely has to do with Zasere.

OLYMPIAN TOUR GUIDE

The city is heavily populated with all sorts of races; no one really even notices as you enter, save for a couple Guides who will show you to the Residential District
  • MEET YOUR ROOMATES. After the warm reception, you’ll be whisked away to your new residence. Try not to dawdle, as you might swiftly get left behind. While they would like you to explore ands familiarize yourself with the sights, that’s not to say that they aren’t on a strict schedule! Once you’re situated in your quarters, however, you might find that, for better or worse— you’re not alone!

Maybe your new roommate was the one who saved you during The Descent? Perhaps, they’re the ones who accidentally left you for dead. Regardless, it’s clear that now is the time to settle your differences.
If you happen to run into the Guides again, you may want to ask what's around here? They will explain the Four districts of Olympia, and then point toward the direction of the Empress's palace. "With luck, you'll never have to go there." As for the other places —
EXPLORE OLYMPIA. Bordering every residence will be a large bulletin board showcasing various snippets of what the city has to offer. Local business ads, the directory for where one can sign-up for missions (which seems to be blacked out and removed for now). What's all that about? If asked, someone will say: Missions will be available once the Olympians become a bit more familiar with them. For now, it seems exclusive to natives.

Well, at least there's plenty of other things to do.
HOME SWEET HOME
On the night of your first day in Olympia, the soothing voice of a young man trickles into your mind. You may have just begun drifting off to sleep in your new abode, or for those who don’t sleep, finally had found a moment of peace and quiet in the night.
Hello, everyone. We’re really glad to see that you made it to Olympia in one piece. Don’t worry about us, we’re okay. More importantly, your friends and family are okay. I wish I could tell you I understood what that enemy was after, but I have no idea. Darma used up a lot of her energy keeping those in stasis alive, so she’s resting. She might be out of commission for a while.

Also, I’m sorry about the delay, but network communications should be fully back online and operational now. Let me know if you come across any issues.

Oh, before I forget. Now that you’ve reached El Nysa, you can instantaneously travel from Thesa Station to Olympia. I believe some of your universes call this process “teleportation”. Be careful that a native doesn’t see you, though. Sol can take care of it if you do it on accident, but she’s… new, so to speak, so don’t make her work harder than she has to.

Good luck, everyone.

It seems you're able to connect to the network, finally.
FINAL OOC NOTE
This is the FINAL PART of our three-part intro event. From here, all of Olympia is open for exploration, and your characters may now teleport back to Thesa Station. This will also conclude the linear narrative, which means your character is on their own for the time being. At this time, you may get your characters' settled into the city, meet your roommates, get accustomed to the map, find a job, and run your player plots.

Please keep an eye out on our calendar for important happenings; we will be introducing jobs, hunts, and quests on August 6th. You may use this time to finish your intro event logs and get settled into the game. While this is still considered a "log," the game is now "open world," so we advise players to create open logs here on out and utilize this log for the nametag mingle.

The NETWORK IS NOW UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. Please use [community profile] elnysa for network posts, and be sure to use community tags also.

REMEMBER TO USE COMMUNITY TAGS.

Dragon cafe

[personal profile] unchainedwolf 2017-07-25 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Hello my name is Fenris! My hobbies are reading, wine, and killing slavers!

What a great way to start things off. He isn't sure exactly how he feels about the tag on his chest, but the words on it are nothing he feels shame for. He's already met his roommates, and yelled at one of them for reasons. He isn't sure how in the world he is going to survive here with Anders so close. Maybe he should just find somewhere to squat for a bit.

He's seriously considering it when he see...dragons? Baby dragons? He stops in the window of the cafe. He isn't sure how...to feel about this. All the dragons in his world were violent and hardly anything to cuddle and pet. He's curious though, so he goes inside. He stares a little longer at the woman who was handling them, she seems like she knows what she is doing-- and then he gets called out on staring.]

I apologize. I've never seen them so young before.

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-07-27 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You're forgiven— ( Dany's blue eyes drift over his name tag, which proves helpful in more ways than one. ) —Fenris.

These younglings should be roasting their own meat in the very least. Out there, free. They are as caged as mine are by these people.

( There's a flash of temper bright in her eyes for a moment, and the black one in her lap nips at her fingers. Oddly enough, that prompts her to smile as she adjusts herself in her seat, posture perfectly erect, but minus a little of the earlier tension. )

It seems as though you and I have something in common, ser.

( Wine isn't terrible at all, either. )
unchainedwolf: ('Cause these words are knives)

[personal profile] unchainedwolf 2017-07-29 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[She talks like she knows how these creatures are raised-- and then she says 'mine'. His eyes widen a little as he kneels down to both examine them closer and so she doesn't have to look up at him hovering.]

Yours?

[He asks as he watches her pet them as if they were dogs. He's never seen anyone treat a dragon like this, but then again he's never really seen a dragon this tiny and new to the world. He glances from the dragons to the woman before him. His eye on her name tag and it takes him a moment to read it in him mind.]

Daenerys. [He says after a moment. He sees her 'hobbies' as well. He wonders if she meant the reading or the slaver part.]

Are you from Tevinter? [He doubts it, but her name sounds very Tevene.]

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-07-29 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
( For a time, she contents herself with paying attention to the fledgling in her lap. But when he crouches, she gazes downward, meeting his gaze directly once more. )

Yes. Three of them. They were taken from me and caged.

( She might stroke the little one as tenderly as one might their pet, but the displeasure on her face upon mentioning the imprisonment of her dragons suggests she might believe they belong in the wild. A lesson she'd had to learn the hard way, and she's thankful to Tyrion for removing the chains from Rhaegal and Viserion when he did.

As he takes in the content of her name tag, she shakes her head. )

Westeros. My ancestors hailed from the ancient freehold of Valyria. What manner of place was this Tevinter you speak of?
unchainedwolf: (Assembling their philosophies)

[personal profile] unchainedwolf 2017-07-31 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't know humans could tame dragons.

[But then again, he also didn't think someone would actually have a cafe full of them. So maybe his world was the odd one out.]

Good. [He says rather quickly. He might be from Tevinter, but that doesn't mean he likes it.]

It's an awful place. It's nothing but self righteous mages growing fat off the work of slaves.

[personal profile] jelmazmo 2017-08-01 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Valyria once boasted several lines of dragon riders. Mine was the only one to escape the Doom.

( True, she'd never received a formal education; but she'd read of it anyway, much as she had the basic history of her House in Westeros.

She tilts her head almost imperceptibly in response to that statement, finding the remark telling. )

Had no one sought to sack it and free its slaves? ( Yes, she's entirely serious, and the darkening of her expression reflects that. ) A city of magic-wielding slavers would have been returned to the dirt had I been born in that world.

Impressive.

[Dragon riders? He's not even being sarcastic right now. It's damn stunning to simply touch one without getting your hair burned or a limb bitten off His eyebrow raise high as he says that. He wonders if he should tell Hawke about this-- probably not.

And then she says something that might surprise him more. The fact that she is actually concerned about the slaves and might share his views. Finally, someone with sense. He shakes his head in answer.]

There are always riots from the slaves themselves, but no country has ever tried to help us.

[Us. He says with little shame.] We have to free ourselves.

( Isn't it? Dany has no shame in promoting the things that made her family truly great. She stops short at the Valyrian civilization itself, which had freely profited off the slave trade. It had been a slew of escapees who had founded the city of Braavos, and she admires them more, for having so risen from nothing.

Her lips purse into a firm line, her displeasure at the apathy of the people of his world clear. )

Those who have never been chained themselves could never hope to understand. No country sent aid—but what of individuals?

( She nods her head, her gaze reflecting empathy. ) It was the same for me. Afterward, I would not rest until others were likewise unburdened.
