October catch all (Open)
Who: Senren Lavellan (
heraldsdawn) & others
What: Sen is on the hunt for conspirators with friends and not dealing with his feelings
When: Throughout October
Where: Anywhere
Warning(s): Violence and language but that's about it
The Hunt
[ The event in the morning definitely did shake him a bit. The bomb hadn't killed anyone but the effect was more insidious than that. Sickness. A slow death. The act was so abhorrent, and just evil. If this was some kind of act of war this was a dirty way of going about it.
So, Sen is on the hunt, tracking down any of the associates of this Shady man and bringing them in. Killing them would serve no real purpose. They were more useful to them alive than dead.
He's currently in alleyway looking at the scraps of information he's managed to find so far. Perhaps with companions, perhaps by himself. Regardless, he's laying it out on a crate and looking it over. His hand rests against his chin as he thinks deeply on the facts ]
Hm...We at least know where the explosion happened. Any of the culprits could've been nearby at least to see who they got. If anything they would want to know that their poison took effect.
[He's just muttering all of this to himself. Clearly trying to keep his mind on catching these people instead of everything else.]
The Chase
[ Now, really, he had hoped they would come quietly.
Clearly, that's being optimistic when they're throwing large objects like crates, the large metal milk jugs and even whole carts at you. He's sprinting along behind the culprit weaving and ducking when he can when objects go flying towards him. It's only when he gets to a particularly dead end street that the culprit takes his chance to dive into an abandoned house.
Sen all but skids to a stop in front of the open door, a gritted look of quiet fury on his face. Going in alone would likely be a death trap, but he probably got lucky when someone decided to come along when they saw everything happen.
Sen looks to his new companion, staff gripped in his hand tightly. If this was a time to back out now it would be now, so; ]
You don't need to come in. If you want to leave now I won't blame you.
Relief effort
[ Chasing after war criminals and the like... definitely it's exhausting. Still, he couldn't rest now even though his body was telling him to rest. He knew he wouldn't be of much help finding a cure in his current state but neither would he let his body rule him right now. With so many people getting sick some families were having trouble making ends meet or even getting food.
He's making his own rounds, dropping off boxes filled with groceries with a weak smile to the families that open up. He offers them a kind word and a reassurance that the Violet sickness would be fixed soon before leaving.
However, on his rounds he seems to be carrying a little too much when he finally drops everything he was carrying. There's just a long, low sigh as he just starts rounding it all up. Though perhaps its there when someone comes across his mess of groceries strewn across the ground. Maybe help? Or stomp on an apple? Who knows. ]
Downtime
[ It's about time his body gives out from how tired he is that he can be found just sleeping on a bench in the street. His arms are splayed out across the back of the bench, his head leaned backwards as he snoozes. He's thankfully avoided getting sick but perhaps this isn't the best place to be sleeping right now. Maybe wake him before somebody decides to rob him of his shoes? ]

chase with a twist
it's why he's chasing some poor schmuck down through alleys and back streets. like a cat chasing a mouse. playing with his food before he eats it. it's hardly a mercy to let them think they'll live, but reaper has to get his fun somewhere. he gets them cornered in an empty shop. and, reaper will give the guy credit. he fights back like it's worth a damn, but thinks sticking to shadows is going to save him.
it doesn't. it all happens in a flash -- there's company here and reaper isn't letting his game fall to another. reaper transports behind him in a shadow, then consumes him in a swirling black cloud. there's no scream, there's almost no noise at all. one second signs of life are there, the next they aren't. life force drained, the empty, dry body drops like dead weight to the floor. it's ashy in color, but otherwise no curious markings or anything to lend evidence to actual cause of death. reaper solidifies behind it a second later. he doesn't like doing this, but he has to. that's three down, now. this should keep him going for a while. he looks up with his head tilted to the side. though it can't be seen, there is a sick grin on his mouth. )
Did you need something?
no subject
The man in the mask he had met a few days previous standing over the culprit Sen had been chasing. It doesn't take him long to piece the scene together when he see's the corpse dried and emaciated looking. There's shock to his face for a mere moment before it turns to anger.
So when this man said he was death he wasn't just trying to make a threat. He was some kind of monster. A demon. Who knows. But, he's supicious beyond all belief.
Regardless, it's enough for him to grab his staff and point it towards the man clad in black. ]
Preferably the man you just killed still alive, but clearly that's not going to happen.
[ His gaze narrows as his fingers grip tighter on the magical staff in his hand. ]
What did you do to him?
no subject
Does it matter?
( because it doesn't to reaper. which becomes apparent as he begins to move toward sen. the man is nothing to him now. another in a long line of sacrifices. )
It's not going to change anything. Have your fun being offended and appalled on behalf of a criminal. Whatever justice you think needs to happen. I just don't have the time, kid.
no subject
But he at least expected some kind of....decency in it. Make it quick as possible.
This on the other hand? Looked far too slow and painful and that he's not letting go.
So the staff continues to get pointed in Reaper's direction. ]
You're coming in with me. If this is how you plan on dispatching those people I won't allow you to do so.

The Hunt!
Good man! Elf. Whatever. If they were here, we know exactly what they would look like as well. Which should make catching them all too easy.
[Richard presents a sketch he made of what he thinks the culprit looks like.. After all, they wouldn't risk being contaminated!]
1/2
Regardless, they're well meaning enough that he's letting the apparent King help out.
But, he gives a curious look. ]
We do? [ He's almost impressed hearing that. Did Richard actually get information?
However, it only takes a glance at the sketch before his mouth thins into a fine line. ]
2/2
I don't believe they would be so obvious. The culprits may have a way to be immune to their own poison.
[ He has to take another glance at this picture because honestly? This looks like a child drew it. ]
If they all walked around like this we'd have them by dinner time.
no subject
Let me ask you this. Have you ever dealt with a plague? Do you know what they are like?
no subject
Was a planned thing. I can see doctors wearing such things to keep the plague out in their clinics but random people on the streets? Not likely.
[ Though...maybe it has merit?
But not to this extent. ]
But, you have a good idea at the very least. The conspirators must have something that keeps them from getting sick. If a little less obvious.

The Hunt
If these assholes are still in the city, they might attack again. We have to figure this out faster.

[ His tone is placating and calm trying to at least keep Magnus from getting too rowdy. It wouldn't do if they lost their heads but even so, he wishes he could just charge in and fix all of this.
He gives a deep, aggravated sigh, just at the thought how limited he feels. If Leliana was awake he would be sure they would know what the culprits looked like as well as their favourite type of brandy. Intel on his own with a few good friends wasn't enough.
Still, he had to keep his head on. He spreads the pages out more, at least allowing for Magnus to get a better view of the descriptions and images. ]
Here's what we know; at the scene of the explosion there were at least two individuals who were acting oddly before it all happened. A young woman, perhaps in her twenties with bright red hair and an older gentleman with a tattoo on his face. While everyone was about their business they just seemed to be lurking about.
Witnesses said they had never seen these people in the area before and weren't any usuals to the businesses down there. Whether they were just there to observe or act as decoys for the real perpetrators they'll have some information on them. [ Only problem was where were they now... ]
no subject
Still, you think it could be some kind of sign for their group? Maybe there's other people with the same tattoo.
no subject
It's fine I understand what you meant. [ Besides, he's heard it all before. It's nothing he couldn't handle.
A sign...A sign....
The thought occurs to him when Magnus says that and he shuffles through his notes a few more times. ]
I think you're correct. Witnesses said that these to individuals had a brand in the shape of an 'M' on their wrist. It could be how they identify each other to one another.

chase.
You think you can steal all the fun? Nah, I'll come in. [ She walks up beside Sen and flashes him a grin. ]
no subject
If you call getting stabbed in the dark fun, I agree. [ Light humour despite the fact that this was a serious situation. Only real way to cope.
Regardless, he returns the grin before he steps on through, lighting the tip of his staff as he does. ]
Keep your guard up. For all we know they may have more of that disease on them.
no subject
Can't get stabbed if you rewind time! [ Except that only works for her. Whoops. Having her guns ready, she steps in behind Sen.
Her eyes are focused on his staff and there's a little 'wow' from her. Magic still really amazing and she's slowly getting used to the fact that it's real. ]
Let's hope that they don't. I'd like to avoid getting sick if I can.

The Hunt!
Percival is sick. Refusing to rest, of course, and under Pike's care, but still sick. Vex would likely have offered her aid anyway, but then those fucks responsible made it personal.
So now Vex'ahlia is here, looking over the details that Senren has laid out, and pulls a map she'd bought of the city from her side pouch. It's a tourist map, yes, but in some ways that's extra helpful - all sorts of 'MUST SEE' locations are marked, and might lend them a clue. ..right? ]
They've likely been observing for some time. Deliberately releasing whatever that poison was in the air when the market was at the height of its busy period. It's a good thing it wasn't a festival day..
no subject
He cross references between the notes and the map focusing on it deeply. He glances over at Vex ]
No doubt looking for some new faces to get involved and pit the blame on or hire to help this plan get off the ground.
If anything they saw our arrival as an opportune moment since the city welcomed us so hospitably.
[ It makes him just seethe a little more. It just feels something like one of his enemies would do. ]
no subject
It's going to make things harder on those that come after us, for sure. If we don't get to the bottom of this.
[ As a whole group, or just her and Sen (and Vax) - either way, Vex means to do what she can. ]
I'd like to take a closer look at the site of the explosion, if at all possible. Maybe there's a clue natives might have overlooked..

Downtime
Which was exactly what he thought he was victim of.
He had been poisoned, and unless this was the most incompetent assassin in the city, he was convinced there was nothing but the sweet embrace of death awaiting him. He had been searching for the source of his ailment around the city- quickly dismissing the attack he had been nowhere near. That was when he saw the younger elf passed out on a bench like a vagrant. He may not be Elvhen, but he was closer kin to him than most others in the city, and he would rather that the Dalish child not fall prey to what had befallen him.
So he grasps Senren's shoulder and gives him a few firm shakes to rouse him.]
Da'len, get up. This is not a place for slumbering.
no subject
[ He lets out a tired mumble as he begins getting shaken into wakefulness. He blinks a few times, looking up towards the figure that is apparently decided to ruin his nap. When the sleep finally is blinked out of his eyes he looks to his waker and there's a slow, dead faced look.
Because this is the LAST person he wanted catching him sleep.
Why? Because Abelas is the most judgemental elf that ever was and he already dreads how many ways this man could tell him how he was dishonouring elves or something.
He already sits up and the thought to lie crosses his mind but...again...Abelas. He'd see through it.
So... ]
Ah, so it seems. I just sat down for a bit of a rest and well...I seemed to have dozed off. How odd. [ Playing it coooool. ]
no subject
Instead he simply encourages the other into getting to his feet, while he cast paranoid gances at those around them, as though he were expecting an attack... well, more than he usually expected an attack anyway.]
It is not in your best interest to leave yourself unguarded here. Come, walk with me.

a little of the hunt + wildcard
at least that's what he keeps telling himself as lavellan looks over the findings at hand. percy had been attempting to snoop around prior, listening in on conversations where he could, but it'd been difficult with people giving him such a wide... berth. so accompanying lavellan is the next course of action. two sets of eyes and all that.
or at least, he'd hoped? he leans heavily against an adjacent crate, squinting even through his glasses at the bits and bobs of evidence. he turns the collar of his coat up a bit more and mutters. ] Might still be spying on us to see just how much further it's progressed no doubt... could be worth your time to look into areas that are dense with the sick. [ a beat. just one. to collect his breath. ] Though carefully, perhaps...
im assuming perc has the raven filter mask? if not ill edit.
Still, he had yet to catch on that Percy wasn't feeling a hundred percent so he'd more than welcomed the aid in the search.
He gives a look to Percy with a nod as he spreads the papers out more. ]
True. Perhaps observing who they managed to infect or how bad the sickness is becoming. Writing down the results as it were.
[ he gives another look to Percy before looking at the strange bird mask the other has and points to it.]
Will that help keep you protected from the infection?
/thumbs up
he'll think about it later when his mind isn't swimming. at the remark he gives a short nod. ]
I crafted it some time ago, it contains a filtration system that should hopefully do the trick.
[ i mean. it won't help if you're already sick percy, but at least it gives him an excuse to sound a little off okay. ]
