Who: 9S (
idealog) & anyone, really
What: True to his calling, 9S is determined to help people using the best information he can. He’s got a solid lead to work with, but there’s a slight problem.
When: After the explosion
Where: Check prompts
Warning(s): References to sex, and maybe someone will get laid
PENETRATIVE MISSION
[ 9S knows an explosion when he hears one. It’s been a while since he’s had to deal with explosions on a regular basis - the sound is alien enough, and the terror even moreso. The aftermath is frantic, but even without a Commander he knows what needs to be done. It’s time for this Scanner unit to do some reconnaissance.
He’s out and about making his way across the city, asking questions and listening to conversations with a hopeful look on his face. Something about his relative innocence seems to make it easier for people to talk to him - which is pretty different from back home, but he doesn’t mind. 9S follows a few different leads to sorry ends, but his luck changes as he’s working through the Nobles district. There’s a woman - someone he’s pretty sure is a nurse from the looks of it, and there’s an enthusiasm in her that’s hard to find in times like this. "Can you believe it?" She says, rather excitedly. "I still can't believe it, but apparently having sex cures it!"
It stops him dead in his tracks. What? How? That doesn’t make sense. By the time he’s gathered his wits about him, the nurse has gone back to work and is too busy for questions. Most medically trained people are right now, but there’s a buzz in the crowd about it.
He bumbles along, biting his lip and finding it difficult to focus. He’s likely to bump into someone, which isn’t all that surprising given the blindfold. ]
Oh, I’m sorry!
THE TALK
[ I. He’s never felt so anxious inside the Simwe Institute, not since applying there. But he’s found a valuable piece of information, one that could change things for the people caught by the illness. The nurse’s words are on repeat in his head, taunting him as a potential cure - but not a proven one. Someone with a better knowledge in the science of this stuff - someone involved in the research - may be able to put the information to good use.
Biology has never been his strong suit. This is ridiculous. As a non-organism with an engineering bend, he feels completely out of place, looking around for someone who looks like they could stand being talked to about this. ]
Um… Can I talk to you for a minute?
[ II. Maybe a nurse is a better idea. A healer. Anyone with actual medical knowledge that can prove or disprove that rumor. There are a lot of them working at the infirmary, doing their best to keep people comfortable in this time of need. ]
I, uh….
[ Is now really the best time? ]
WHEN I THINK ABOUT YOU, I…
[ Even after talking it out with his fellow refugees, 9S is still very nervous about the prospect of sex. He’s learned a lot, but there are certain boundaries he doesn’t know if he wants to cross. He still has so many secrets he wants to keep, so many things to hide about himself, that he doesn’t want to let go.
But sex is the cure. (butt sex is the cure? oh god) It might be the cure.
Humans - people of all kinds - are sick and could die from something like this. Death is permanent for them, as far as he knows, so to let them die would be wasting truly unique and worthwhile individuals. Some bad ones might have gotten sick to, but… their deaths would be for nothing. This is a new world, a last refuge of hope for anyone the Natha had rescued from the Storm. If he could save them and did nothing, their blood would be on his hands. Androids were made to protect humans, and in spite of himself that instinct will not let him stand idly by.
9S heads to the infirmary to comfort the ill and hopefully, to help. He swallows his pride and puts on a smile - his own comfort be damned.
Glory to mankind. ]
How are you feeling?
[ 9S is pretty sympathetic to the plight of the sick, but he needs to talk a bit and find a level of trust before he offers his full assistance. If you’d prefer, your character can just chat with a nervous but friendly android boy, but if you want him to give it a solid try (or fail) I’m game! ]

P... penetrative mission...
Oops, are ya sick? [He seemed dazed after all, though Shima's less sure now that he's got a good look at him, a little baffled by the blindfold]
The medical stations are back the way ya came, if that's what you're. uh.. trying ta find?
no subject
Oh! No. I'm not sick.
[ Focus, Nines. Stand up straighter like a good soldier. ]
I'm trying to find out more information on what happened.
[ And boy did he find some. His artificial skin is a little paler than usual. ]
no subject
[Decides to gently herd S9 over toward a wall and out of the flow of traffic for now while he recovers, figuring if he's bumping into people even if he's not sick, he probably needs a moment.]
no subject
[ Why would someone do that to innocent people? The people mentioned - how were they really involved? But that was a question for another time. ]
It's just, uh... I overheard some nurses talking. They said something about a cure, but... it doesn't make any sense.
The talk - I
She's done a good enough job in keeping to herself until a voice reaches her ear. She picks her head up and glares over towards the boy who accomplished to snatch her attention. Shrugging at his question, she sinks back to find a wall to lean up against. Her hand crossed over her breasts. ]
You’re already speaking to me, but sure, go ahead.
[ She doesn’t sound exactly annoyed, but her tone is a questionable one. ]
no subject
Oh. [ He laughs awkwardly. ] Right.
It looks like you're helping with the effort to research the cure for that illness. I, uh, I've come across some new information about that from one of the nurses on hand.
no subject
That, however, all depends on what this boy can offer her. ]
Out with it, then. If the source is someone from the medical field, then I could only imagine it holds some value or truth.
no subject
Um...
[ His artificial skin goes a little pink. ]
One of the nurses said that sex would cure it. She was really certain.
[ He's not really looking at Rin because wow, awkward. ]
I haven't been able to confirm.
