Who: Ariadne (
buildindreemz) & You????
What: Event stuff
When: First week of October
Where: Various around Olympia
Warning(s): Hallucinations, what appears to be attempted suicide.
i; Home sick
[ Ariadne is not the best patient. She's home, because she didn't want to take up a bed in Sanctuary when someone else might need it more, though she did at least get herself checked out. Still, staying at home is the last thing she wants to do, even when she's run down and feeling like crap. Ariadne hates feeling like crap, and she hates being useless even more.
It's even worse when Rogue gets sick, and she blames herself for it. ]
This is the worst. What was even the point of a bomb that just gives a bunch of people the flu?
ii; rumor hunting
[ It only takes a couple of days before Ariadne is pushing through the ick to get out and about again. There's no way she's going to sit around feeling like crap and waiting for someone else to fix this. No. Way.
She's back at the market, where it all began, careful not to cough in anyone's general vicinity but curious nonetheless. She's talking to some of the shop owners, asking if they know anything, when a stranger approaches her.
"Where do you think this stuff comes from? Huh?! You can't find this kind of shit in Olympia!" An older gentlemen shouts, surrounded by others of the ilk. "Those savage animals have been pulling dirty tactics to try and invade our walls for years, now! Wyver wants you sick! Wyver wants you dead! What're these people going to do about it?!"
She frowns at the man, curious. ]
Wait, why does Wyver want us sick, and dead? That - am I missing something, here?
iii; to sleep; perchance to dream (cw: hallucinations and attempted suicide)
[ It starts small. Just a shadow in the corner of her eye, or a glancing movement in her peripheral vision. The first time she actually sees Mal, though, she's out in the city, and she stops in the middle of the street, stops dead in her tracks, because that's not right. There's no way. Mal is dead, had been for a long time even before everyone got packed into stasis. ]
No.
[ When she starts forgetting things (remember how you got here?), it escalates. Her totem is no help, and the visions of a dead woman combined with the loss of memory, the paranoia, - Ariadne's grasp on reality has been tenuous at best since waking up here in the first place. So it's no wonder it quickly slides downhill from there.
Eventually, she decides that enough is enough. This is clearly a dream. Her subconscious is telling her it's time to wake up. ]
You're not real.
[ She addresses the woman next to her, with the curly dark hair and the big eyes, the one who haunts her nightmares, the one she never met in reality. She glances down at the ground below her feet. This was the tallest building she could find, though it's not nearly as tall as the last skyscraper she threw herself off of. ]
iv; wildcard
[ Find Ariadne around the city, urge her to go home or stop off at Sanctuary for a checkup! If you want a specific starter, feel free to hit me up at
frodabaggins! ]

>> home sick
Are you sure you really want the answer to that, sugar?

[ It probably didn't take long for Rogue to figure that out. Ariadne is sometimes almost dangerously curious. What's the point of living in the world and not asking questions about it incessantly? ]
I just need to know why. You know?
ii;
Politics. Should you be out right now? [ She asks Ariadne, a hand hovering near her arm. ] Do you need water?

I'm fine. [ She is so not fine. She's a little feverish, her eyes bright with it, her skin the pallid color of someone who is ill. ]
It just figures that we'd get caught up in this place's politics. It's not like I chose to be here -
[ She stops, covering her mouth with her arm as she turns to cough. ]

[ Okay look, you want proof? There's that coughing, and Cass's not actually cold, thin, strong hand against the back of Ariadne's neck probably feels like an ice cube, if one can get over how she just up and got into Ariadne's personal space. To her credit, she pulls away as soon as Ariadne registers what she's done.
Also she doesn't want to get coughed on. Nothing personal. ]
No, but you're here now. Where do you live?

[ Ariadne frowns, staring after the angry people, as if staring might get them to tell her more, or explain what they meant, or - something. ]
I need to know why, is all.
no subject
I understand. I need to know why, too. But they won't tell us. You need rest.

[ It's okay, Ariadne is leading them along anyway - she knows where she's going. ]
This is ridiculous. You'd think people who could figure out - you know, all the stuff they've figured out - [ Like inter-dimensional world hopping and stasis and stuff ] would have figured out how to stop terrorists.
no subject
[ That's the problem with terrorism; most folks won't fess up. ]
I don't think they're concerned with what happens here.
no subject
[ Sorry, Cass, Ariadne has a lot of questions. Most of them rhetorical. ]
no subject
[ What is a rhetorical question? ]
Maybe. It's only a guess.
no subject
So what's your name?
