❪ event ❫ THE DESCENT: PART ONE.
THE PROLOGUE
Your sleep on the night of the 15th is not a restful one, unfortunately. It’s unclear whether you are in a state of half-wakefulness, or dreaming. The voices you hear certainly sound very real.
What is it, Sael? —Is everyone asleep?! Every one, yes. Sael, it appears you do not have good news to deliver...? N-No! I don’t know how it slipped past us, but there’s something powerful coming this way. Something hostile. I can barely keep the core systems online! ... I don't know what to do... I see... and we cannot protect Thesa and Alria in addition to transferring the Refugees to Olympia. This force, they waited for this moment. They knew I have been Intervening, and that I have become weak from such Interventions— ... We've been had. It cannot be helped. To save the Refugees on the Stations, we must eject the awoken unto El Nysa. My remaining energy shall go into shielding Thesa— left defenseless, every being we have saved on this station will perish... Sael, where is the ideal location for the landing? Hmm. There aren’t any people within a ten mile radius of The Outlook, and there shouldn’t be any for a few more days. I think that’s the best location right now. Very well. Instruct Zasere and Roman to begin preparations for an emergency eject. This is the only way we can save everyone. I am counting on you to ward off the enemy on the space front. The rest... is up to our Refugees. The alarms are blaring. It shouts against your eardrums, calling you to wake again. This time, you are in new pod, strapped down completely and cushioned tightly against the walls. In truth, you had no idea when you’d gone to sleep, but it is reminiscent of when you had been saved from the force of the Storm. A voice greets you when you come to, while the conversation between Darma and Sael is still fresh on your mind. Despite their voices playing like an old tune in your memory, you still know it is something that happened. Something has gone terribly wrong. You hear Darma speak, her voice loud in your head. Fellow Refugee, I wake you with regrettable news. A force equal to our own is attempting to engage Thesa, no doubt to steal the souls contained here. My energy is near depleted with this last Intervention, so I cannot send you to the grounds safely as originally intended. However, there is hope yet. This power shall instead shield Thesa and Alria — and believe in me when I swear no one shall be hurt. Your loved ones are safe with us. THE DESCENT ![]()
Meanwhile, in the distant kingdom of Olympia, the Empress and her loyal subject discuss matters late into the night... I’ll have the results of that dragon toxin study ready for you soon, Your Highness. I just need a few helpers to— oh wow, is that a meteor shower? Oh yes, it appears so. How beautiful.. hehe. Let us thank Thesa for this blessing. GATHER YOUR BEARINGS
All in all, the descent lasts for nearly seven hours. After the deployment of the last wave of refugees, it’s only natural that you may be feeling pretty worn out.
A. Within the remains of the pods, Refugees will find basic camping supplies such as small tents, sleeping bags, and compasses. Not all of the supplies remain intact, thanks to the impact of the crash. But, sharing resources will ensure there is enough for everyone to rest for the night. Can you really in good conscience leave that stranger next to you without shelter? FINAL OOC NOTE
This INTRO event will be broken up into three parts! Please keep this in mind when plotting your threads/tag load. PART 2 will be posted on JULY 18TH and PART 3 on JULY 22ND, at 6 PM EST. In the event of CAPTCHA, we will be providing an overflow. In the event of a second CAPTCHA, players are advised to move threads to an overflow post on their character journals. These threads remain eligible for AC,
AC Rewards, and REP.
The NETWORK is currently down, as Sael must concentrate all of his efforts on warding off the invading force. Characters may still message each other's personal IC inboxes. Submit two (2) AC-eligible threads from this log for one (1) Natha Orbiter REP point here by JULY 31ST. Recommended Listening: Alex & TOKYO Rose

tinker bell | third wave + camping options
[ she’d tell herself she’s had worse landings, but Tinker Bell doesn’t eveb stop to dwell on her arrival. there are others who need to be helped, people who might need the assistance she can offer, but all of that requires her to get her hatch open, and the first thing she notices is that it’s stuck.
she kicks at it first, a few solid strikes, until someone comes around to assist her from the outside. it’s only then that the door gives, from being pulled off of her pod, leaving a bruised and breathless fairy to offer a grateful reply.] Thank you.
[ but now that she’s free, there’s no time to waste. others are coming, and she hasn’t forgotten the message she received during landing. she jumps out of her pod and reaches back in for her wand, turning to the stranger who rescued her.]
How can I help?
GATHER YOUR BEARINGS.
A.
[ luckily, most of Tinker Bell’s supplies remained intact. at first she waits, strictly to see where the others settle. they’ll need to stick together to get through the night, so she sets her tent up with the others, working on assembling it properly as she watches the rest of the refugees. not everyone has the same supplies she has, but if she could just get her tent up, she could share.]
Do you need a place to stay for the night? I could use a little help. Perhaps we could work together.
[ help her fix up the tent and you’re welcome to anything of hers. whether or not Tinker Bell needs the assistance might be up for debate, but she sees that everyone else is doing what they can, and if she could get a shelter prepared, she might be able to sort through the supplies of some of the damaged tents. it's possible they can piece together a few additional tents from what they have left, and there's no time to waste.]
B.
[ it’s cold at night, but Tinker Bell has spent decades surviving on the heat of a fire. some might find her with a pile of wood in her hands as she collects it to distribute to the others, handing it off where fires are being prepared or have already started to provide warmth to their group.
have trouble getting a spark? it’s possible that Tink might lend a hand, or wave one towards a fire with enough concentration to get it to light. in her world magic came with a price, but she’d like to think they’ve already paid it – and if they haven’t, well, all of this is on her. if it gets them through the night, she'll take whatever consequence there is for a few magical sparks. it can't be as bad as what they've already been through.]
C.
[ when she feels she's done all she can, Tinker Bell sits down by the fire. she's dressed in a green robe, having changed in her tent out of worn, bloody clothing. she's tired, yet sleep feels like the most impossible thing anyone could ask of her at the moment. how is she supposed to sleep when their future is so uncertain?
she doesn't ask, afraid of disrupting the others. it's better just to sit quietly and keep the fire going. they did the best they could, now it's time to rest. she wishes her mind could settle down enough for that, instead of wondering what they're in for here.]
A.
He hadn't set up his bedding, having given away the tents he had found. It seemed that the young woman near him had found one for herself. He glanced over at her, surprised at her question.]
I don't need anything to sleep.
[It wasn't the first time he slept in the open.
He got to his feet and began inspecting the tent, readying everything to set it up and get it standing.]
These were hard to find.

[ the question is as judgmental as it should be under the circumstances. they survived the landing, now they have to make sure they get through the night - and that means preparing for any sort of trouble that might come their way.
who knows what sort of creatures might be out here to greet them if they lie out unprotected? the man who reaches out to help is a stranger, but she wouldn't want to see him harmed in the dark of night.]
If you won't sleep in this tent, you ought to consider another one. When I finish with this, I think I'll go through the broken ones, see what else can be salvaged. We'll find a way to make sure no one goes without some protection from the cold.
[ but in the meantime, she starts to pull at the one she's been working on, trying to create a tight edge.]
no subject
[It's said with a bit of a smile, something that he could summon in this situation. It was a surreal situation. His world had ended and so many were gone, but he was trying to smile and joke.
If there was danger, it hadn't presented itself yet and the thought of it hadn't fully hit him. He was moving in a daze, following the motions and seeing to the rest of the survivors. It wasn't what might be lurking out in the open that worried him, it was what was in his head when night came.]
There's no need, my lady. I don't expect to get much sleep. There might be others who need the tents more.
Do you have enough supplies for yourself?
no subject
[ she understands how it's used, but fairies never required the same formalities in the Enchanted Forest. besides, if they're all going to be working alongside each other, she'd prefer the people who help her use her name. they seem to have an uncertain future ahead of them.]
I do, enough to share.
[ especially when she takes up less room should she make herself small. her tent would practically be unoccupied if she slept as the smallest version of herself. first she secures one section of the tent, then moves on to another.]
You're determined to take care of everyone but yourself, aren't you?

Third Wave
Depends on what you can do.
[But he appreciates that she's hit the ground running, as it were, and turns to lead her out of the danger zone with a gesture.]
If you can heal people, I figure we're gonna need that more than we're gonna need extra hands out here.
no subject
[ in Neverland, she knew the island she was working with. there were plants she could seek out with very specific healing properties, things to speed up the process. here, it's all unknown (and likely not safe to test).]
Think I could fly a few at a time to safety, how about that?
[ which gets both her and some of the others out of the immediate area before they get in the way of anyone who can open these things, or worse - the next wave as it lands.]
no subject
[Cayde puts his hands on his hips and looks around, gesturing to where some fires can be seen a good little ways away.]
If you start moving people from here to there, I think that's good. Means more of us can stick out here getting people out too.
no subject
[ she glances off into the distance, catching sight of the fires. it won't take her long to fly some of the others there, and hopefully that might help manage the groups.]

A
No, I--
[ She crooks half a smile. The truth is that by the time she settles down she thinks she will want a bit more space. ]
--believe I have what I need for the night. But 'tis kind of you to offer, and I can still assist.
[ As she speaks she positions herself to begin securing one side of the tent. ]
no subject
[ Tink won't push, she just wants to make sure that no one's needs go unnoticed. some of the tents were damaged during the landing, and with so many people rushing around, it's impossible to get a count of who needs shelter for the night. eventually, someone might take her up on the offer. and that's fine, especially when sleep feels so far off for her.]
I thought if I could get this one up, I could start looking through some of the damaged supplies that have been cast aside. I'd bet I can get a few oddly shaped shelters out of the leftovers.
[ they won't be perfect, but neither is this one at the moment. she pulls tighter around a corner.]
I'd hate to leave anyone out in the cold.
no subject
[ Though she knows she will not change her mind, this is a case where she sees no reason to burn goodwill and lending her assistance here is a very small matter. ]
A productive thought. Most people will prefer something oddly-shaped to nothing at all.
[ The tent they work with may be simplistic, but she notices it is a bit less rustic than what she has used in Thedas. While her new acquaintance pulls the corner tight, she works to set pegs in place and only spares a moment to glance over. ]
You do not seem entirely unaccustomed to this.
no subject
[ there were others on the island with her, but Peter Pan and his boys were more of a danger than anything else. company came in the form of a boy who eventually found his way out, and pirates who did favors for Pan while the years passed. having help here is a change of pace from all of that; different than the life she had in Storybrooke or the Enchanted Forest, but a bit more like Neverland if anyone had been kind.
which is why she's trying to offer kindness in return, wherever she can manage it.]
Following a specific form is harder for me than building something from scratch. I lived in a treehouse in Neverland.

clarke smiles slightly looking appreciative at the the thought but she just shakes her head] No, I'm good— I already have my tent set up for a place to sleep tonight. I can still give you a hand if you need it?
no subject
I wouldn't turn one down, as long as you don't have somewhere else you need to be.
[ like collecting food, or supplies, or starting a fire. Tink has gone down the list of everything she's capable of helping with, and she knows others have done the same. it's why she won't turn down a little assistance when it's offered. sometimes making herself useful is more comforting than slowing down long enough to take a deeper look at the situation they're in.]
I don't believe we've met - I'm Tinker Bell.
no subject
I don't think we have either— my name is Clarke. It's nice to meet you Tinker Bell. [the name might sound strange to her but hey she isn't really one to comment on it and unlike most people, she isn't too familiar with the story that goes behind it either]

Seeing someone out of the corner of his eyes, Roman looks over, realizing she seems to light the firewood with a wave of her hand. ]
How did you do that?
no subject
[ she looks up, offering the man a small, cautious smile. whether he believes or not is up to him. she won't push one way or the other.] I'm a fairy.
[ not that she looks like one when she's purposely in her human form and wearing a borrowed robe, but. that is the truth.]
sorry for the delay!
A
Diana has no doubt she could find shelter with Bruce or Clarke, whichever she happened to find first. it's a comfortable awareness, yet not one she needs. she has two hands, does she not? along with an offer of aide and a place once she's ready for it, Diana nods. )
As you say. I will aide you. ( Diana has put together tents before, childish creations as a girl in her mother's quarters, and more adult forms in the woods during annual hunting excursions along Themyscira. the tent Tinker Bell has is not much like the ones Diana remembers, yet she thinks she can learn. ) What would you have of me? ( she will follow directions, considering the little lady in green seems to already have some idea of what she's doing. )
no subject
Thank you. [ she might be stuck out here, but Tinker Bell hasn't forgotten her manners. the offer of help is appreciated, and so is the willingness to learn.] I've been working on the frame so far, these poles slide in, like this. [ she demonstrates for Diana, continuing to align the poles that strengthen her framework.] It's not especially difficult, just time consuming.
[ especially when her thoughts are so scattered here. is everyone safe now that they've had time to settle in? do they have tents, food, the warmth of a fire? did everyone who was injured manage to locate some sort of healer?] My thoughts keep pulling me toward the crowds, but we'll need shelter up before it gets too late.
no subject
though, perhaps in sleeping in a small tent, Tink had the advantage on her.
Diana watches silently, dark eyes alert, and once she thinks she understands she dusts the hood from above her head and sets to work herself. if Tink has an additional instruction for her, she heeds it. the mention of all the people, Diana nods in grim understanding. there does seem more bodies than structures standing, and there was little sunlight left. )
If all fails, someone can have my place, if you will have them. Cold is not much of a trouble to me. ( even if it does start to bother her, she has other options for a place to sleep if she needs it, and that might not be true of everyone. now that most of the poles seem more or less prepared, Diana stands and places her hands on her hips as she surveys their work. ) Now, how do we get it standing?

[Gaius had gathered his own wood, but he's been sitting in front of it for a few minutes, catching his breath before he devotes himself to starting a fire and sticking with it for as long as he can. He feels as sore as he looks—his sleeve has been torn off partway so he could bandage his arm, there are small bruises here or there, and the rest of his clothes are covered in dirt from exploring and helping as best he can.
But the warmth of a fire and some magic is enough to lift his spirits a little more.]
It's not often I see magic like that. I feel warmer already.
no subject
[ there are hardly enough supplies to go around, and in sorting through all of them, making camps, and finding time to share some type of food, who has the energy to build a fire from scratch? Tink survived without her magic for years in Neverland, but now that she's earned back her wings, she'd like to use her abilities to help people the way that she used to.
she smiles at the compliment, pausing for a moment to steal some warmth from the fire.]
You've seen it before, though?
[ it's nice to run into someone who has.]
no subject
[Where's he from, there are Orbal Arts—he can use those—and there are genuine witches. He's very, very fortunate to know one, as they aren't exactly common. It also makes him miss his own ARCUS unit; if he were able to convert his own mana to Orbal spells, he might've been more helpful.
But there's no point dwelling on that. He leans just a bit closer to the fire, warming frigid fingers as he holds his arms in front of him.]
It's not exactly common where I'm from...but magic is amazing, isn't it? Or at least it can be.
[He can't help but wonder if he sounds easily impressed.]
