Who: Venom (
poolhall_killer) & Peter Quill (
volumeone)
What: Our ex-assassin manages to locate a fugitive. Things may or may not get out of hand
When: Tuesday night
Where: Residential area
Warning(s): None yet
[Another early night off. Only a few stragglers have been coming in, and Venom cannot bring himself to flirt harder for more tips. It's even worse when Peter hasn't been showing up. He's asked about him, but he only gets non-answers. That with the lack of cash flow makes the former assassin more frustrated than he should be. Well, maybe he can spend his extra time following more leads before bed.
He bids the bar farewell for the evening and starts heading home, when a strange movement catches his eye. Before he can even think, his cue's in hand as he investigates. At first, he sees a few rat-like creatures scurry off, but then he notices a taller figure in the shadows. He's about to demand the other show himself, but he doesn't have to as he recognizes the shape.
What the hell...?]
Peter?

Peter?

Hell. He's gotten sick between hangovers, Ravager birthdays, and just eating the wrong food that wasn't meant for human digestion. None of it feels like this, somehow more real than real, every breath rasping. His vision swims as he stops, yet again, and he's about to move on when he realizes with a start that he isn't alone.]
Who's asking?
[And it says a lot that he doesn't recognize Venom at first, considering the work shifts they've shared, the favors they traded. The tell-tale silhouette he makes as the lamp casts him in harsh shadow. He manages to lift his head, his neck muscles aching and sore like he's pulled them, his eyes dull as he fixes an unfocused stare at Venom]

And it stings that Peter doesn't initially recognize him. Part of Venom wants to reach for his friend, but he doesn't want to get sick, either.]
It's me, Peter. Venom. You need medical help.
no subject
Yeah, no. They'll just kill me before I can make it right -
[And that's as far as he gets when he lurches forward, intending to brush past Venom, and his legs suddenly give out under him like he's suddenly Gumby. Peter pitches toward Venom with a surprised grunt]
no subject
Who wants to kill you? What are you trying to make right?
[For a moment, he recalls one of their lunchtime discussions about guarding something if Peter takes off for some reason. Venom wasn't sure whether or not to take it seriously at the time, but maybe that's what he's referring to.]

[Apparently Peter starts getting bitchy when he feels like he got run over by a steamroller, his face pinching with pain as he swallows thickly, unable to help it as he sags against Venom]
Ah, screw it. [He seems to give up with the idea of just pushing away from Venom and stumbling back the way he came. Too much effort. Especially when his legs are as bad as a drunk's right now.] I wanted to make up for the job. You know the one, you covered for me that night.

He catches his friend when he tries to push back, only to tumble forward and right into the assassin's front.]
Easy, Peter. Yes, I do remember covering for you. What job did you take?
[He has to know, but he has a bad feeling about the answer.]

The one that got that bomb in the city. Thought we were just securing cargo but -
[Peter shifts against Venom like he wants to shrug. One hand grips against the other guy's sleeve, touch hot - too hot - as he tries to straighten]
Guess we should've done the decent thing and actually looked in the box.

[Venom can't believe what he's hearing. He's done some terrible deeds in his life, but this... The former assassin is trying to hide his anger, trying not to push Peter away and lash out for what he's done. But he's someone Venom considers a friend, and it looks like the illness is punishing him enough already.]
Yes, that would have been a good start. We're getting you to a clinic, and after that, I highly suggest you turn yourself in. If you don't, I'll do it for you.
[Because after learning this information, he wouldn't be able to have it on his delicate conscience.]
