[That earns a genuine laugh from Jae-Ha, pleasant rather than aimed at Slaine. Oh man, he's going to tell Hak that one immediately. Immediately!!]

I'm afraid not. It's Jae-Ha. Has Yona dear been speaking about Hak very much? It's not so unusual, but I'd be surprised that she'd openly speak about her thoughts of him to someone else, unless you've become very friendly.

_{[Jae-Ha. Right. Okay. So this isn't Hak. That's...sort of a relief?]}

We're...friends.

_{[Is what he manages to squeeze out, voice quieter as he does so. He's still not used to the word, careful and not wanting to throw it around freely.]}

I know they've known each other since childhood and that he's her bodyguard.

[Jae-Ha hums like he's considering that information, and in a way, he is. That quiet answer is cute, seems like a good one. Jae-Ha is usually a good judge of character. He hasn't been too wrong yet, and so...]

Do you always hold hands with your friends, Slaine?

[He asks it so cheerfully, a light tease, but also more questions to dig further into this relationship. Friends??? Or more than friends??? Which is it, Slaine?]

_{[It has the desired effect - Slaine finds himself tensing up, curling in on himself, his gaze suddenly finding the puddles on the asphalt rather interesting. The answer is a no, but it's a bit more tricky than that. Namely having to do with the fact that before he arrived here he had only ever had one friend to begin with, said friend also being a princess. There's a small shake of his head, droplets of water flying off as a result.]}

Lady Yona likes to...and I've no reason to deny her if she finds it comforting.

[That earns a laugh, and Jae-Ha reaches with a free hand to pat Slaine's shoulder.]

If you denied Yona dear something like that when she asked for it, I couldn't imagine how she'd react. [He chose the safe option!] There's nothing wrong with it, so long as your intentions are pure. [He squeezes a tiny bit, just to be that big bro level intimidating.]

_{[Slaine can imagine how she'd react. Probably just as upset as she had when he'd told her he couldn't oblige her request to sleep with her. The squeeze to his shoulder has him tensing up, fingers curling around the damp edges of his sweater sleeves.]}

...The only intention I have is to fulfill whatever requests Lady Yona may ask of me.

[What a good boy, he's passing every test. Still, Jae-Ha ducks down a little, and now his head is actually under this umbrella, too, to be up in Slaine's space.]

Even if she were to ask for a kiss?

_{[That's because he's a good boy, well versed in the art of self repression. What sort of question is that anyway? Regardless, it makes him feel nervous. Yona had said they were friends and wanted him to be familiar with her...but even if she wasn't his princess, a princess is still a princess.]}

...I would have to respectfully decline her request. A person like me could never entertain the thought of doing such a thing to someone of Lady Yona's upbringing.

[Oh no... Jae-Ha leans up a little, but moves his hand shortly after to ruffle Slaine's wet hair.]

She's out of everyone's league, so thoughts like that will only have her lonely in the end. [He's just saying.] Anyway, enough about that. She's important to me, so of course I had to make sure you were safe to keep around. I'm glad that someone can stay by her side.

<sub>[Instinctively he flinches at the hand that settles in his hair, half expecting to feel his scalp being yanked. Instead the soggy strands are tossed about, leaving Slaine to look up at Jae-ha as if he's grown horns. He...wasn't expecting that.

So Yona was important to this man then, somehow. It's not his place to ask how, so he keeps his lips shut, listening instead to what he has to say. Stay by her side? Could he though, realistically?]</sub>

That sort of thing...I don't think about it. _{[Kissing, that is.]} I would rather harm myself than bring harm to her.

[GEEZ... It's like Kija and Hak combined into one obsessed force, with way too much focus on self harm. Stop. Jae-Ha laughs a little awkwardly at first, considering those words.]

Then continue to be her friend, please. [That's what he comes up with, angling the umbrella a little as the rain worsens so he can try to keep Slaine dry.] You should know that with Yona dear, if you're hurt yourself and you're her friend, you'll only cause her more pain.

I can't visit her too often while she's sick like this, so I'll rely on you to take care of her for now. How's that?

_{[That, at the very least, has Slaine easing up, nodding. It's not like he wasn't going to continue looking after her to the best of his ability. That's one thing he wouldn't stop doing, even if he was threatened to.]}

[He ruffles his hair AGAIN.] Slaine, right? You don't have to be nervous. If you're friends with Yona dear, then we can be friends, as well. Think of me as a big brother. ♥

That aside, at least this guy seems to approve of him having anything to do with Yona which is...nice. To think of him as a big brother though...he's not really sure how to do that. He hasn't a clue what it's like to have a sibling.

[But that's fine. He'll stop messing with his hair now, and focus on just holding the umbrella, though he finally shifts to lower it so Slaine can take it himself.]

_{[It's not that Slaine can't be talkative...it's just that being quiet has become an ingrained survival instinct living at Crutheo's landing castle. Old habits die hard, but as he's handed the umbrella he can't help but pipe up for a word of thanks.]}

...Thank you, Mr. Jae-ha, but you're going to be soaked without it, aren't you?

Anyone who tries to prevent you from speaking is only embracing some ugly part of themselves. You shouldn't pay it much mind.

[That's his opinion, his very strong opinion, and he smiles at the question that follows, reaching a hand up to wring out his ponytail.] I'm already thoroughly soaked from soaring through the sky like this, so there's no use in preventing it any further. I'll find another one later, so you can keep that.

_{[The thanks comes out genuine, even if his voice is quiet. It's not like a learned behaviour of keeping his mouth shut can be reversed so easily, but he understands what Jae-ha is trying to get at. Quietly he watches as he wrings his ponytail out, fingers curled around the handle of the umbrella.]}

[He's perking up because he loves explaining this part.] I can leap and soar through the skies. It's just like it sounds!

My legs are incredibly strong. [He winks.] I'd be glad to show you when it's raining less.

[He asks it a little out of nowhere, watching Slaine curiously as he does. It's a genuine question without any of the intimidation he had put behind his words in the start.]
