_{[Sure, Slaine might have spent the first eleven years of his life on Earth, but he didn't exactly have a normal upbringing. It sounds ridiculous. Why have a dog if you weren't going to walk it yourself?]}

You know this is usually the part where you say "you should see the other guy"... [ but something tells lance this isn't really that kind of situation.

[ lance's smile softens a little, and he lets out a laugh — mildly self-deprecating. ]

[ think they're that type, that is. which says something about what mr. bravado here truly thinks about himself but that is neither here nor there. ]

Lady Yona? No...she's been ill with the disease from the outbreak. There isn't much I can do for her other than keep her company and comfortable.

_{[He's doing his best.]}

Even before all of this though, before coming here... _{[He looks pointedly at Lance's flight suit. He's got to be a refugee, just like him. His voice lowers, just a little more. ]} Whenever I tried doing the right thing, it would backfire.

[ lance just lets out a quiet sigh, reaching over to give slaine's shoulder a pat and a squeeze. ]

Try not to be so hard on yourself. You're doing what you can for who you can, regardless. I don't think there's any failure in that.

_{[Sorry Lance, Slaine's hobby is to be hard on himself. He definitely feels he's failed Asseylum, but all he can do is try and make a life for himself here to support her when she does wake up.]}
