Catchall log for December
Who: Kale & YOU
What: A catchall log for December with a couple of open prompts and some closed ones.
When: All month
Where: Olympia, Wyver & Thesa Station
Warnings: None
Kale was trying to keep busy as much as possible. She and Misa had a residence in both Olympia and in Wyver for the time being, since they were undecided about where they wanted to live. Kale had a slight preference for Wyver, if only because the way they readily embraced fighting reminded her a little of her home planet. But on the other hand, she liked the idea of joining the Guard, even if she still hadn't gotten around to joining. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to go back and forth the way that she did if she had a job with the Guard, and she still didn't know how to present herself.
Fortunately, there was plenty to do, and plenty of odd jobs to be had. The fighting rings in Wyver were easy, legal money for her to get her hands on, which was a plus. While Kale didn't care about riches, she did eat a lot and was paying half of the rent in two small homes.

[ now he's examining her intently, trying really hard to see if there's any visible differences between her and other humans. there has to be something.
...maybe it's the eyes. ]
Maybe you had a common genetic ancestor or something? Back where I come from, only asari can mate with other species, and that always results in the children being asari...
[ but he has to know... ]
What sort of powers?
no subject
[Now Kale has to take a moment to think about it. Fortunately, her roommate Misa is a good point of comparison. Until she got to know humans personally, she took many of her abilities for granted. With the exception of the super saiyan transformation, much of what she could do was standard for her race.]
Um...well. The higher gravity means we're stronger, for one. We're stronger, faster, more durable, have better sight and smell, a strong immune system, we heal faster, and every time we're seriously hurt in battle, we get stronger.
[She pauses, trying to think if she missed anything.]
We can use ki, but I've seen warriors from lots of other races do similar things, so it's not really a uniquely Saiyan thing.
no subject
Huh. That sounds a little like the Krogan. But you definitely don't look like one of them. They're a lot bigger, have scaly skin, and headbutt you if you don't agree with them.
[ so... do saiyans headbutt their enemies? there's so many questions he has. ]
Um... this is probably a weird question to you, but what's Ki? Does it let you manipulate energy fields around you?
[ he can't be sure, but maybe it's similar to biotics. he's seen some pretty crazy stuff what different species have been able to do with those abilities. ]
no subject
She looks mildly amused at the headbutting comment.]
I'm--
[She almost starts to revert back to her old habit of saying "I'm just", but she's beginning to gain a little confidence and cuts herself off.]
...definitely not someone who'd headbutt someone just for that.
[And she's not exactly tall, anyway, so she'd be far more likely to punch, or perhaps fly up and kick, if she did want to hit somebody. She sets her very full tray down at a cafeteria table when he asks about ki. A direct demonstration is probably the easiest.]
Um, well...ki is life force energy, basically. It's energy that comes from training and life experience.
[She forms a small ball about the size of a tennis ball in the palm of her hand. If he pokes at it, it will tingle, but she's not putting a lot of power in it so it won't actually hurt. It's just a bit of glowing white light.]
no subject
I don't know. I bet you could take on any krogan.
[ given how much she's carrying, it's downright impressive. plus, he's sure they'd underestimate her, looking just like your average human. ]
We have something like that back where I come from, only it comes from exposure to something called Element Zero. Some people can make miniature black holes. Once, one of my friends threatened to flay someone alive with her mind.
[ wait... ]
I don't know how serious she was about that...

[She may be small and sweet natured, but she is still a Saiyan warrior, and she's been working on changing the meek and pathetic part of herself that she inwardly loathed so much. It's a work in progress, but she's getting better at meeting and talking to strangers, at least.]
Oh wow, that sounds like an amazing technique! It's possible to fly with ki, too.
[She lets herself rise up so that she's at eye level with him, hovers there for about ten seconds, and then lands, just to give a short demonstration.]
It's more tiring than it used to be, though. The Natha said it might be the storm's effects.

[ source: every single krogan he's ever met. Wrex and Grunt would probably especially like to take on a different type of "alien". it would be something to see.
as to flying... ]
Biotics back home can do a little of that, if they're really powerful. But, not everyone can actually use biotics. Well... unless you're an asari. They're basically the exception to every rule.
[ and... they were pretty attractive too. he wasn't going to lie. ]
Are you the only one of your species that's awake?
no subject
[And someone doesn't try to headbutt her in the face just because. That sounds unpleasant.]
What do asari look like?
[They sound pretty neat and it would be good if she could identify one on sight. Or at least make an educated guess. She nods at the next question.]
Yes...I don't understand why I was the first one to wake up, but...here I am.
no subject
[ but seriously. he'd pay good money to see this girl take one on. given how much food she's holding, she looks like it'd be a pretty impressive sight. ]
Let's see... They're a bunch of different shades of blue. Also, they're a one-gender race, but they tend to identify more as "female" in most cases. They've got cartilage-like formations on their head, and their chests are pretty similar to human women. Because they can mate with any species in the galaxy, everyone finds them attractive.
[ and he means everyone. ]
I can relate. It's a little... [ lonely ] weird being the only one around. Back home, there's billions of us, and here they're all asleep.
no subject
Are they able to produce children asexually, too?
[She's having trouble imagining how this works, but if they can mate with any species in the galaxy, she supposes it's not a real problem if they want to propogate their species.
Saiyans even exist in a parallel universe, and none of their saiyans have woken up either. Although the other universe's saiyans are bulkier than the ones in my universe. Taller, too.
no subject
I'm not an expert, but the way it was explained to me was that they need a partner to help randomize the DNA. They'll meld with your mind if you let them, say a few words, and... Bam! You have a baby asari in the making. At least, that's the most basic version of it. They can also mind-meld without making a baby, but don't ask me how it works.
[ somewhere, an asari biologist is crying in stasis. sorry, Liara. ]
Yeah? I haven't seen any turians from another universe yet. I don't know how we'd be different. Maybe... shorter? Stronger? This whole multiverse thing is new to me.
[ but hey, it's pretty cool. ]
