[ hey elliot could have picked up some bad habits from vincent or ernest ok!!!
the hot water feels divine against leo's skin when he eases himself into the spring. it feels like the knots on his back start to loosen just from it, although it could very well be his imagination. his glasses are left on the rocks, placed carefully on top of his folded clothes. the steam rising hazily around him makes up for it. ]
[True to his word, Elliot looks away while Leo strips down and slips into the water. It's only when he hears him speak that he dares look over toward his friend, who seems to be enjoying the water just as much as he's been.]
[ logically he should be scrubbing. who knows how much grime they've collected over the days without a proper bath. what leo does instead is leaning back against the rocks and exhales happily, splashing some warm water over his hair. ]
[ he won't be offended if elliot said that bluntly... it's not like he doesn't know it best out of everyone. ]
How does it feel to live out something out of a book? The protagonist leaving his comfortable privileged lifestyle to grow into a man in the wilderness... having nothing and building something out of nothing.
[ heh. they could write something worth reading from this, leo thinks, dipping down and rising back up, wet as a drowned rat. ]
[This whole experience is really killing the romanticism of it all. If Elliot could he'd go back to his comfortable, privileged lifestyle in a heartbeat. The wilderness sucks. Being hungry sucks. Not having really any employable qualities sucks.]
[ not! that leo has any room to talk. pointing out flaws in elliot is kind of a hobby though.
the water feels so good in his hair, he finds. idly, leo starts to scrub his scalp, dipping down occasionally to keep himself warm. the wet, matted hair in his face is a bit of an annoyance... and the idea is honestly still so repulsive to him, but.
the lights don't seem to exist here. he'd found that out early enough. maybe this would be okay. for the first time in what feels like his entire life, leo pushes his bangs up and out of his forehead, blinking against a clear vision. it's... definitely strange. ]
[That gets a huff out of Elliot as he sinks a little down into the water. From his spot across the spring Elliot watches as Leo begins to scrubs at his hair. He's about to look away but his gaze remains transfixed when his servant pushes the black wet mop out of his eyes. For the first time since he's met the other boy he sees his face in full view. His eyes are bright, cheeks flushed from the heat of the water. Leo is...beautiful. That's really the only word he has for it.
[ there's a snort in response, but leo is too busy scrubbing away at his hair to really notice the lack of noise from elliot. he does realize there's something amiss soon enough, and blinks back at his master, frowning at the expression on his face. ]
... What?
[ elliot is staring at him. not that elliot doesn't do that sometimes, but leo is suddenly extremely conscious of his exposed face. ]
[Are you calling him out? Fuck Leo, let him live. (Only no, don't, call his stupid ass out every chance you get.)
Is his face red? Definitely, but it's absolutely from the heat of the water and nothing more! He's just...going to literally dunk his face in the water now. If he drowns it's fine.]
[ or, were, now that elliot's underwater now for some reason. leo isn't convinced at all, but he'll wait a little before questioning elliot again. he has to come up for air eventually, right? ]
[NO HE DOESN'T NEED AIR HE CAN BREATHE UNDERWATER IT'S HIS SUPER POWER OKAY only no that's bullshit he really does need to breathe which is proven with a loud, audible gasp once Elliot himself surfaces, his own bangs stuck to his forehead and some of his hair in his eyes. He pushes it aside with a hand, trying to act casual.]
Wouldn't it be neat if we could breathe underwater?
Are you looking to relocate underwater? I don't think it would make our lives any easier to be honest.
[ it's leo's turn to stare, but he's staring because elliot dodged his question and it's still a little strange... maybe he should put his hair back over his face after all. he's considering it. ]

[Yeah Leo, what do you take him for?!]

My hair needs it.

[Look he's not being rude, he's just being honest. Leo's hair was starting to look like a bit of a nest and not in its usual way.]
I can't believe how much I've taken for granted...

[Not this water though. It's too hot.]

Of course, if you could see under this water, I'd be worried.
