[ Never mind years spent amongst soldiers; she grew up with a brother who never felt the need to treat her as some delicate lady. ]

[ Bucky's bemused, both at what Peggy is laughing at and exactly why you're not supposed to curse in front of ladies. But he's happy to have made her laugh, so he rolls with it. ]

Atlantean's the best for cussing, but I've been told that I speak it like I got a lisp.

[ She looks mildly startled by that, then amused. ]

Better with a lisp than not at all, I suppose. Atlantean?

[ But then he remembers his hallucinating Namor, and how confused Steve had been. ]

D'you not have Atlantis?

[ No one in his world had known about them 'til 1939. They could still be hiding. ]

[ ... well, she's definitely seen blue people before. Or, rather, a blue alien in a crate, but that had been confidential and most definitely extraterrestrial. She isn't so certain about people living underwater on their own Earth, but then again — maybe they do exist and they hadn't been discovered yet. Before the world's end, anyway. ]

Not to my knowledge. They found Atlantis on your Earth? The lost city?

More like Atlantis found New York.

[ This isn't any kind of secret, so he feels easy talking about it. Even though he trusted Peggy, on account of Steve trusting Peggy, he doesn't like discussing classified intel any more than he can help. ]

Back in '39, Namor, the Prince of Atlantis, flooded the Bowery. It was in all the papers. Even though it was tricky to print a guy who wasn't wearing pants.

[ She smiles when he recognises the quote, an acknowledgement. ]

Well, I should hope so. They did plunge the rest of us into quite a mess.
