Absolutely. And I've been going out here or there. Nothing out of bounds, of course, just a patrol or two. For the moment, though, I'm more interested in one of our other duties, on a somewhat broader basis.

[ And he's actually excited to talk about this, for all that it hasn't really gotten off the ground much. He's been doing his own work on it, but... ]

I'm working on preserving what history from my world that I can put down. Myself, and a couple of others. Keep what was good, what was important, alive. Even if we have to move on.

[ She nods at that; it isn't the first time she's heard the sentiment. And it's nice to know that other people care about what they left behind — not just for nostalgia's sake, but honestly for preserving the memories of their homes. ]

I quite agree. I'm curious about the history of this place, as well, but — I don't think you can really appreciate or understand where you've headed without knowing where you've come from, either.

Completely agreed.

We have to adapt, but it shouldn't be at the cost of who we are, the lives we've lived, the legacies that were left to us.

The two aren't incompatible. Not at all.

Well said, [ she replies with a little lift to her glass, almost a toast. ] All we can do is our best and stay true to who we are.

That's what I'm trying to do, honestly. It's a little challenging but...

[ He looks thoroughly encouraged by her general agreement and the compliment. And 'well said' is definitely a compliment in his book. ]

I figure if we're here to work on it, we're at least halfway towards doing it, you know?
