[ota] it's time to move on, time to get goin'
Who: Yusei Fudo (
planetary_bonds) & Genjo Sanzo (
smithandwesson) & you!
What: the saga of yusei's move to wyver and other catchalls for january
When: from right after the gala up to the first week of january
Where: olympia, wyver, and the woods in between
Warning(s): yusei's naked in the last prompt. nothing sexual, but it happens.
[a. wyver scum] - olympia business district
[Something doesn't feel right here. He can't quite put his finger on it, but he's starting to feel more and more uncomfortable walking the streets of Olympia. At first, he thinks it's the excessive decoration that was put up for the gala still lending a rather austere air to the whole place, but even after that starts being taken down he feels on edge. Like he's being eyed with disdain.
Catching some dirty looks from people who think he can't spot them makes him realize that it feels like being in Neo Domino City all over again, where the mere glimpse of his marker alerted them to his being from Satellite and left them free to eye him with all their scorn. The feeling of being judged and reviled, through no fault of his own...
His feeling is only confirmed when he's found trying to negotiate with a vendor who had received his repairing services just last week. Said vendor is being ambivalent about the whole thing, at first responding to Yusei like he's merely making a joke, then pretending to not recognize him. Yusei watches said vendor's eyes slowly harden as the conversation turned haggling turned argument drags on, until they eventually spew a harsh insult, demanding for Yusei to leave at once before they call the guard.
Yusei glances around, spots other people all looking at him that same way, with that same thinly veiled dislike, as if he's tainted, unclean, a nuisance to be swept away and forgotten. He grits his teeth, scowls, then slowly walks away, murmuring to himself.]
What's...going on...?
[He's unaware that this whole thing is simply due to wearing Wyver's pin at the gala, even if he barely competed in the competition itself. Such a minor thing doesn't even enter his mind - he barely remembers such a small detail.]
[b. up and at 'em, time to go] - olympia residential district
[When he does figure out that his less than positive reception from natives is from such a simple thing, he can't help but question the mindset of the average Olympian citizen. Receiving a survey causes him to toss the paper in the bin with disgust - it's nothing but one-sided propaganda when one reads between the lines, almost daring citizens to think of Wyver with antagonistic feelings while bringing up Olympian pride. It only cements the feeling he'd had that started a long time ago when touring Wyver for the first time - this place, as hospitable as it had been at first, felt far too much like Neo Domino City. Maybe now would be a good time to make good on his promise to Sanzo - he feels bad about leaving in the middle of repairs, but at this point the citizens are nearly done, and they won't take his help anyway...
There wasn't much in his apartment to begin with after Sanzo had left, but he still takes the time to pack up what little personal effects had been left behind by the monk during his frantic escape, as well as the small cache of tools and parts he'd acquired over his time in Olympia. Even with how little was left in the apartment, however, it still takes time to load the half-completed rickshaw-motorcycle, especially when he has to fill the spare gallons of water he's carrying for the journey. It's quite the sight, honestly, watching Yusei pack up, and it's actually got some local citizens glancing aside curiously.]
[c. over the river and through the woods] - south outpost and the surrounding area
[Honestly, the journey goes smoother than imagined. Yusei thought that being incomplete and powered by steam, the bike would have some difficulty handling the journey to Wyver. But going through the South Outpost (and he can't help but feel a little bitter passing by it, when just a week or so before a celebration of unity had been held right in this spot) means he has smoother roads to follow, and other than some side-eyeing by the local guards he hasn't had much trouble.
Honestly, the only real problem is that he has to refill the tanks more often than he's used to,
steam power really doesn't allow for long distance travel, and so every five or ten miles he has to stall the engine and get out to grab one of his spare water tanks...and find them frozen. Great.
Maybe travelling through the countryside during such bitterly cold weather wasn't the best of ideas, Yusei thinks ruefully. At least he's getting better at making fires, though. Anyone passing by on their own quest might be grateful to stop for a brief moment of warmth.]
[d. naked as a new year's babe] - wyver
[The weather is significantly warmer in Wyver (at least during the day), compared to Olympia and even his increasingly warm journey down past the South Outpost. Yusei's been finding himself grateful for this recently, especially as of now. Why?
Because he's strutting around naked in the closest thing Wyver has to a public town square.
Granted, strutting is exaggerating things a bit...but it's definitely not overstating the truth to say that he's in the buff (and...quite buff, actually), carrying nothing on him but a rather large sign.]
I AM AN OVERLY OPTIMISTIC LITTLE MAN-BABY WHO THINKS PEOPLE ARE PERFECT AND INCAPABLE OF MAKING MISTAKES. FEEL FREE TO POINT AND LAUGH.
[It's definitely an...attention getting sign. Judging by the deadpan expression on his face, he's not particularly happy to be holding it, either. Whether he's actually walking around or sitting crosslegged in the middle of the square, he's definitely giving people quite the eyeful, and explaining his predicament to the locals gets him...surprisingly, not scorn, but amusement. After all, this all happened because he lost a bet regarding the nature of humanity, and anything that affirms the idea that Olympia isn't to be trusted can only be a good thing, right? Great first impression to be making on the locals, Yusei.
Some of the locals seem to even be congratulating an odd-looking monk that's observing the shenanigans nearby and - aha. Of course. To those who know him, finding out that Sanzo may just be involved in this wouldn't be much of a surprise.]

That's a relief to hear. What's your friend's name?
no subject
Mai.
[Does that sound familiar, Reign? You might have a workplace in common.]
no subject
As for the name, it seemed to strike a familiarity in Reign's memory. ]
Mai? I think I've heard that name before. Works at Shades Darker, doesn't she?
no subject
[It never really came up. On first thought, he can't really imagine her in a place like the red light district.
...Then again, when he thinks about her words, about putting up a face in the sociopolitical world...]
...Hm. It makes sense, in a way. What, you've solicited her there?
no subject
Haha, no. We're sort of like co-workers there. It's an excellent place to find blood volunteers.
[ Reign had wondered then if it was the act of being bitten created a form of pleasurable sense for his patrons. ]
It's been a while since I've last seen her though.
no subject
[Oh, right. Vampire kinks. He remembers that conversation.]
Anyways, we're coming up to her residence now, so prepare yourself for a heartfelt reunion, or something.
[Very funny, Yusei. He is pulling up though, so make room. Might be a little crowded with all of Yusei's things, but he's willing to drop a few items if he needs to.]
no subject
She mulls on that a moment as she gathers up the simplistic backpack stuffed with her few meager belongings (including those weird as all get out Christmas gifts) and briefly pauses just at her front door. She wouldn't exactly say she's had fun times here, what with all of her stuffiness and constantly going up to visit people in their pods but she's still more the quietly nostalgic sort than some may give her credit for. So she stands a moment, looks back on the last few months and then can shortly be seen coming out the front door to join the pair.
She's not shy about directing a finger in Reign's direction, casting her eyes over to him as well.]
Shades Darker, right?
no subject
Either way, her direct bluntness still took Reign by surprise. He laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he nodded. ]
That's me. Fancy seeing you as well.
[ If Yusei was going to shift some of his belongings around for Mai to put hers, Reign will help him move them, before making space for her to sit on the bench. ]
It's a bit tight, but I'll make sure you won't fall off.
[ Wink wink haha. ]
no subject
She catches the wink, looks at him curiously a moment and then snorts a little as a smirk quirks her lips.]
You sure you can handle that? It's a pretty important job.
no subject
He grinned at her reaction, holding a gloved hand out for Mai to take to help her onto the bench. ]
I may not look it, but I'm pretty strong. Of course, if you don't mind having my arm around you, I'm pretty certain you'll be secure.
no subject
You don't bite me, I won't bite you.
[There's no room for complaining about seating arrangements after all. If having his arm around her keeps her from falling off this thing at some crucial moment, she'll take it.]
no subject
[ Again with the winking, and if Mai hadn't already caught wind about Reign being a vampire, his flashing sharp fangs should do the trick.
He was all proper gentleman as he helped Mai settle on her seat, and true to his word, had one arm around her waist for security. His attention then turned back to Yusei, a wide grin on his face. ]
I guess this means we're ready!
no subject
I'd apologize for the extra company, Mai, but it seems like that's proven to be unnecessary.
[Ha. He revs the engine and starts to drive off.]
If either of you need anything, let me know, yeah?
no subject
Sure thing. I'm good at complaining at least.
no subject
I'm all good, Yusei.
[ He winked at Mai. ]
I definitely wouldn't mind hearing your complaints, as long as it's not about it. Say, I haven't seen you at Shades Darker recently. Taking a break?
no subject
[Yusei, you sassy shit. Half the things that you do together involve complaining about the state of things in general.]
That being said, it's interesting how you both know each other from work. I can't say that I expected it.
no subject
[She waves a hand back and forth dismissively, rolling her eyes.]
I don't have time to deal with jerks.
[She huffs a breath though, amused.]
What, you don't think I could attract a customer or two? You're hurting my self esteem, Yusei.
no subject
Well, I'm still planning to visit Yusei, and I certainly wouldn't mind dropping by your place either, Mai.
Yusei, will you be having a house-warming party or something? I'll bring a gift!
no subject
[To say the least, Mai.]
I'm not one for parties, and I doubt Sanzo is either...
[Oh right, he's moving in with the grumpy monk. That sure is happening.
Still, I wouldn't mind visitors.
no subject
[She's not that fond of big parties either. She made that more than clear to Yusei at the Gala though. Still it's... kind of nice to think of visiting people? It would be a lie to say she's been perfectly content to be thoroughly alone like she has been so...]
no subject
All right then. Perhaps once the both of you have settled in, I'll come and visit.
[ Reign had previously lived alone for so long that he did crave some company. ]
no subject
[After all...there are still people in Olympia he cares about. He doesn't want to lose touch with them.]
If you'd still visit us, even after how intent Olympia and Wyver are at acting like this...it means more than you know.
no subject
The trio bump along as they talk. It's a lot less uncomfortable than she thought it might be.]
