I. WITHIN WYVER
A. ODD JOBS:
[ Calling Mikazuki a workaholic wouldn't be an understatement. He seems to sleep as little as he can possibly get away with and spends the rest of his time either training in the jungles or picking up odd jobs around the dense, vibrant marketplace. Constant movement comes to him easier than being inert, though no one would really figure him for a restless sort. Whatever the case is, he's been hefting deliveries for different shops, earning some silver and a snack or two along the way.
His current task, one that has him parked outside a café with a carved facade depicting a dragon and a few spartan teacups wreathed in steam, sees him cleaning up a pretty tenacious gnarl of plantlife. Foliage grows freely in Wyver, but overgrowth can be a nuisance. He doesn't seem to mind doing the job barehanded, peeling back vines and thorns from bright red blossoms. Luckily his hands are tough and show he's been at this a while as a result: dirt darkens his wrists, fingertips sticky with sap. At his side is very small deer who daintily steps over the carnage, picking up fallen leaves to chew on. With a flat look, he reaches up to push at its nose. ]
Cut it out. You'll get a stomach ache.
[ While most of the unruly vines have been snapped and put aside, there's a pile of flowers neatly laid out, separated from the bulk. Mikazuki sits back on his knees if approached, reaching up to wipe beneath his bangs with the back of his wrist. There is now dirt on his face. ]
Take them if you want them. [ He places another one down. ] It's a waste to throw them away.
B. FIELDS OF THE EXALTED:
[ Working with animals had taken some more getting used to. Mars had no animals to speak of; insects and birds were rare, strays and rodents a little less so. He'd never seen livestock or working animals, so the abundance of wildlife on El Nysa had been drastic change in pace. But Mikazuki seems to thrive on new things, even (or maybe... especially...) when they're wild, strident, and bloody. Which is why he's parked on an outcrop of rock in the fields where he has his main job babysitting dragons. He tends to be not so good with small or sick things, so he spends his time with the older beasts. They're a pretty cavalier bunch, proudly turning earth and whipping the air with their wings. Squabbling over the last sheep, things like that.
Right now, it's fairly peaceful as the early afternoon sun arcs overhead. Mikazuki lets his legs dangle from his perch and watches over the windswept fields below where the dragons come and go, some napping, others blustering about proudly. He's never really approached one, but he's patient. ]
I heard you could bond with one. [ Whether it's a coworker within earshot or a visitor come to sight-see, it's the same statement. ] Somehow.
[ Though he looks relaxed, he's pretty alert, considering where they are. ]
C. LHONGHA STABLES:
[ Things Mikazuki has done: knife fight moon-crazed wyverns in his underwear. Things Mikazuki has not done: actually ride a wyvern. He's interested in seeing more of the place he's chosen to live, but the insistence on it being done with mounts leaves him skeptical. Still, it was supposed to cost lots of money to do this normally, and maybe he won't get the chance to again. Not that this makes him look any more sure about it despite the calm lay of his features. He lingers outside one of the pens where a wyvern is lashed to its fence. It dips its head over the side and tries to take clips at the edges of his hair with its pointed snout.
He doesn't look nearly as alarmed as he should at being so close to an animal that could fit his whole head in its mouth. ]
It's not that I haven't flown before...
[ Just, you know. A talented pilot doesn't necessarily mean he'd be a talented rider. ]
D. LAGOONS:
[ Whatever or whoever convinced him to go, Mikazuki did in fact take to the wilds with a large reptile creature in tow. Whether he actually rode it or just walked it along with him isn't immediately apparent, but he's stopped by the lagoons for a spell. He's left it tethered to a tree where it idles with brief flexes of its pliant wings. For his part, he's, well. Poised over the edge of one of the cold springs, his head entirely underwater. It's a sight.
With some bubbling, he finally pops his head above water with a breath and a splash, not unlike a dog shaking off. Sorry if you get the brunt of that? Glancing over his shoulder, hair now dripping and mussed every which way, his gaze hones. ]
What? It's hot.
II. WILDCARD
[ what to do something else using the jan outline or unaffiliated quests? go for it! plotting comment here or hit me up atrivalry! ]

[ At least Duo had been one of the few who knew what he was talking about. Not that Mikazuki needed that kind of validation to carry on a conversation, sparse as they are, but it makes things go more smoothly when he doesn't keep having to explain things. It's never been his strong suit.
In any case, he pulls the paper taut between his hands, looking over the largest headline. ]
This is about Wyver, right?
no subject
Mars is largely empty for me, too. [ He laughs lightly, shrugging. ] Other than terraforming equipment and some other materials, at least. The people that don't care and choose to stay even if it sorta wrecks 'em.
[ Duo turns with mild interest as he holds the paper taught, the strange blue of his eyes settling on the same headline. It's something about the pride of Wyver being at stake, holding true to their history, all of the same things they'd heard over and over since they'd arrived here and things had begun to g tense with Olympia.
Duo still wonders about all this history that he still hasn't heard a hell of a lot about, really. It's unnerving. ]
Yeah, it is. Nothing we haven't heard before, anyways.
no subject
Really concentrating, he recites: ]
Wyver to stand against Olympia as...
[ He pauses on the word "tensions", but he doesn't really need to finish the sentence. ]
It's really all the same.

[ Duo sits back, calmly listening to him recite out the bold headline. It had caught his eye, the entire reason he'd shipped out bits of coin to see what this newspaper headline lead in to in the story. In a way he almost wishes he had a cigarette or something while they're sitting here, but knows it's more idle hands than anything he actually needs. ]
Yeah. I think I remember the same kind of headlines about Earth and Space in my world... [ A sigh. Duo is So Tired. ]
It's tedious. I don't know why people can't just solve the dick measuring contest and pipe down a little. It's unnecessary all around to poster over a stupid party.
no subject
It would be better to just fight and figure it out that way.
[ Mikazuki doesn't deal well with tension. Not in that it upsets him, but he prefers to crash through it to whatever end it might bring.
It doesn't scare him. ]
no subject
Oh? You're fine to sit around while these people probably fight it out with spears and magic and shit? [ He can't blame him, Duo would almost like to sit back and watch that too, but he just... maybe it's the taste of peace he'd gotten, but Duo just doesn't feel like engaging in war at the moment. Give him a little while more to get restless and that might change, but for now...
Well, he's alright on it. ]
I just don't feel like having to pack up and move again if it all goes to shit.
no subject
[ Used to being backed into corners, this is already more freedom to do and move as he pleases than he'd ever even hope to see back home.
His sense of impermanence hasn't caught up with it yet. ]
no subject
I mean, I guess if you wanna fight I ain't gonna tell you no, but to Wyverians they're not gonna really value shit from you. [ Okay, now he feels like he's coaching Heero again about not being the perfect soldier or whatever - but it's just how it is. Duo's dealt with people like Mika before, and maybe... well, maybe it's dealing with Heero that makes him want to give Mika a word of caution. ]
And do what? Live like a cave man and scrounge for food?
I did that whole picking shit up from passersby for like the first 8 years of my life, and there's no damn way I'm going back to that.
no subject
[ There's only one person he cared to mean anything to, and he's not here. He'll default to what he's good at, to what's given his life meaning in the past. Finding that here after losing it hasn't been at the forefront, despite having the memory of actually discovering the place where he belonged once it'd been brought back to him without so much as a bodybag.
It wasn't Earth or Mars, it's not El Nysa. But he can make do. His shoulder rises and falls again. ]
If that's what happens, I'll deal with it then.
no subject
Rrrgghh.. [ Duo's grimace is clear enough even as leans back, one hand scratching at his head. Kids like this.. he knows he can't change him. Of course he can't - there's no changing anyone who didn't want it at all, or who were just.. determined to fight and bulldoze their way through everything like Trowa, Heero, Mika - ]
Man, I know I'm not gonna change your mind but just.. [ He sighs, shifts slightly. ]
Think about it, yeah?
Sometimes head butting your way through things isn't the best.
no subject
[ No one's ever told him differently. Rather, they depended on him for exactly that. Duo's attitude might be in the right place, maybe a little of his heart too, but at the end of the day, he's too late. At least that's how Mikazuki thinks of it, too scorned by the world to really accept too much from it at this point.
Still, his voice holds no ire. There's no point in being upset about it, no matter how lonely that stubborn part of him is now. ]
