Who: Kazuhira Miller (
b0mbshell) & Senren Lavellan (
heraldsdawn)
What: In person discussion of long term plans.
When: after this
Where: House 49
Warning(s): None (if necessary they'll be in subject lines)
[It's still hard to think that he won't be walking around the jungle again tomorrow. He won't be going out of his way to watch a sunset over the Caribbean sea and he won't be singing in front of a party at the top of his caterwauling voice. He won't be running military missions and he won't be cleaning the damn sauna.]
[Instead he's been walking the streets of a new town, memorizing it and logging everything new and strange. And despite his occasional jokes, he's aware the native faces he sees are of people not even from Earth.]
[But when he comes in he's still smiling and muscling through, determined to beat this like any other task. He kicks off his shoes and carries some food to the kitchen.] Hey, honey, I'm home!
How do you feel about ramen or do they have that where you're from?

He looks up from the page and he pauses at the words. Did he just-?
He has to go over and let his bewildered look be known. ]
I'm sorry, what? Don't I have to sign something first before I'm considered your honey?
[ That may be a joke if only to play off how awkward that makes him.
Moving on quickly; ]
I've never heard of Ramen before so I think that answers the question.
I'm a shitty person that slacks off brutally
[Luckily Kaz is just a tease and won't make a habit of it. The persistently flippant (if mildly so) attitude is what's getting him through this displacement.]
It's a noodle soup. I don't know how you feel about those. Broth, meat or tofu, green onion, seaweed, and soft thin noodles. I think I found enough to give us a pretty good imitation if you're interested.
[And he's just talking about food at first, better to keep himself busy all the time.]
So what are people saying about the anti-Storm union idea?
its cool
[ Because hey, he can joke too. Though this strange food concoction does peak his interest. ]
Well, no one can say I'm not willing to try something new.
[ The burning tasting alcohol Bull served him was enough to tell him that. But, moving onto the important matters;]
Some believe it's a good idea, others do not. I believe from the people who responded, about a third of them want to help, the other third don't believe we should do it and another want to see how it goes before they decide.
[ and there's a shrug; ]
So better than expected.

[He goes to find bowls and dole out some noodles and broth in each, as well as the obligatory meat and vegetables on top of them. He gives Lavallen a fork in his, though, before holding out the bowl. Kaz? Made his own damn chopsticks. And that's what he uses to start eating his own.]
[Being Japanese leads to awkward problems occasionally, like living in places where chopsticks aren't common. Such as alien worlds. At least, he couldn't find anything of the like for sale, it could have been entirely his own luck.]
Well, I think the last third is right by default. I don't think we have the resources to magically get our act together and find some cohesion.

I know. It'll take something very big for us to show everyone that we have the right idea. Just what that is right now alludes me. [ It'd be nice if there was a giant hole in the sky that only he could fix. That helped last time. ]

[He's very good at eating with the stick things. He's scooping out the noodles like a champion, picking out some of the other parts. He pauses for a few bites, before he nods to Lavellan.]
What was your biggest threat before the Storm?
[Just so he has some perspective.]
You might have to describe it to me, too. I've not really ever met someone like you before.

We were dealing with a Magister from thousands of years ago who was trying to ascend to godhood. His steps in obtaining it left a notable amount of damage in my world.
[ There is a curious look and he does have to ask; ]
What do you mean someone like me? Do you mean elves?
And now I am off hiatus.
[He has no idea.]
And... I have to admit, ascending to godhood in any way that doesn't just mean reputation is a little bit beyond what I'm used to. But we had to stop a nuclear incident, which are bombs that can destroy whole cities in one blow.
[He says it casually, but being from Japan he very much knows what horror they can leave behind.]

[ He takes another bite from the food laid out before him before he looks back up at Kazuhira. Thankfully, he doesn't have to ask what a nuclear bomb is since the explanation is simple enough. ]
I'm assuming it leaves no one left alive? [ Because it sounds similar to what happened with the conclave. ]
Did you at least manage to stop it?
no subject
[A morbid subject perhaps, odd to share over food. But he does anyway.]
They called them hibakusha where I'm from. The ones that survive those kinds of bombs. They usually live a life of sickness and have bad burns.
But we did stop that one, yes.
A uh... I guess you could call her a metal dragon that someone made. She stopped it. [It's the best he can describe a metal gear, or what the Basalisk was, anyway.] But I don't think we could stop the Storm.

His mind goes to Red Lyrium for a moment. Corrupted by blight and promising ridiculous amounts of power in return.
But definitely evil. Like what these bombs sound like.
There's a moment he finally sets down his fork, folding his hands at hearing that.]
I wouldn't even consider using such a weapon of that power on the Storm. Not if it meant poisoning others and leaving them to suffer.
