[ nightingale used to be a police officer; he knows a thing or two about wanting answers. he doesn't think, however, that whether or not he finds the person he was just staring at — someone who's now disappeared into the crowd — attractive or not is a particularly legitimate question, or that she has any authority to be asking him as much. ]

Not completely, no. It was a very large place, however.

[ he has a friend who works there. maybe more than a friend. someone who works there as a doctor, mind. ]

I work for the guard.

[ as though that explains everything. and perhaps it does: if she knows that members of the guard are assigned districts to patrol. ]

So you'll be looking after everyone, making sure there's no trouble and then... I imagine that you spend some 'free' time here?

[ettersberg]

No, I don't think I will.

[ he doesn't mind the red light district as such, but it isn't his scene and he's far from immune to the effect of whatever's in the air here and that is something he doesn't appreciate all that much. ]
