It wasn't so long ago that this house was downright crowded. It was an unusual experience for her - her own home was empty after her father passed - but it was a welcome one. She could hardly take a single step without nearly running into one of her other housemates.
Minako's easy smiles, Shinjiro's gruff kindness, Ryuji's exuberant sincerity... she misses all three of them more than she can say.
With a small sigh, she pulls the door shut behind them and crouches down to pet the dogs. She stays there with them even as Akira sits down, her hand running idly over Manju's fur.]
...I think they've fallen asleep again. [It's not the first time she's seen it happen.] I haven't been able to go up and confirm it, but...
[In Shinji's case... she knows. She can't even begin to explain how she knows, but she does.]
If it's like how it was before... they'll be awake again before we know it.
hey i love being sad!!!
The silence stretches between them for another moment as he watches her interact with the dogs. Isolated, almost, though the two of them are hardly a few feet apart. ]
...It must be lonely without them.
[ It's an uncomfortable statement, but it's an open offer as well—he's here to listen if she needs it. As good as they both are at staving it off, there's no avoiding their anxieties, or reasoning it away despite their best intentions and hopes.
...He misses them, too. (Ryuji, above all. His boisterous laughter is much needed on a day like this.) ]
hey me too!!!
But he's right. It is lonely. It's miserably lonely, and with the way her schedule is so starkly the opposite of Yu's right now, it's almost like she lives alone - almost as quiet as it was back in her house after her father passed.
(Except for the dogs, anyway.)]
Sometimes I think... [Her voice trails off.] ...I think maybe I'll walk back in here, and they'll be waiting for me.
[She bites her lip.]
But so far, they haven't been.

I'm sorry.
[ Even waking up after the Storm, they're both too young to expect such sudden losses in their lives. He isn't sure what else to tell her, and he folds his hands together in his lap instead, gaze falling over his knuckles. Eventually he leaves his spot to join her, settling on the floor an arm's length away. (His lap is immediately occupied by the samoyed, and he smiles down at the bundle of floof.) ]
...I'm listening.
[ If it helps. It seems like she has more to say. ]

That's because he's a kind person. He really is - he's taken the time out of his day to ask her about what's going on and how she's feeling.]
Living with everyone like this... it felt like some kind of a wonderful dream. [She'd never really given it much thought before - growing up, she hadn't been surrounded by people, either. But she got her first taste of it at the hideout with the other Phantom Thieves, and the six months since she woke up on this planet have been an absolute whirlwind.] But I wonder if that was part of the problem. Waiting for the other shoe to drop like that...
[She sighs.]
Ryuji-kun, Aragaki-kun, Minako-chan... I miss them all very much.
[Admitting it hurts, but... admitting it is also the first step to making it better.]
...but you miss them, too, don't you?

Yeah.
[ ...More and more, the memories of home—even of the temporary peace they'd experienced here, turn into a distant dream. He speaks softly and pensively, as if putting too much force behind the words might chase away his company. ]
It's hard to wake up.
[ He won't run away from it, but all the same it's so much to sift through and make sense of. ]

[She can understand that. If they just stayed asleep, would they go back up to the pods? ...for a much longer slumber, and then when they woke up, would their friends be with them again?
Haru wonders it sometimes, but dwelling on it for too long feels almost like giving up. Maybe it wouldn't if the prospect of falling asleep didn't sound so appealing sometimes.]
...but, don't worry, Akira-kun. You've still got Ann-chan and Yusuke-kun to help you wake up each day. ...and me, too of course.
no subject
You too.
[ They're all in this together. Strong-hearted and kind though Haru is, he doesn't ever want her to feel like she has to be alone—because she isn't. ]
...You can depend on us more.
[ She doesn't always have to smile when she doesn't feel like it.
(says the one who is smiling atm... why are they like this britt... SIGHS!!!!) ]
