Guess we'll find out.
[ ...It's hard to keep up the pretenses, though, when the situation is entirely dour. He doesn't even know if Sandra can be injured, spectre in a surprisingly resilient crystal ball that she is, but after news from the Institute he doesn't doubt they'll have tried. (Whoever 'they' are.) ]
Hope—
[ 'she's okay', he'd like to say, but he catches himself. It's better to swallow his fear, and having Red with him makes it less bitter.) ]
...she's giving her kidnappers an earful.
[ The worst verbal beating of their lives. ]

But hoping Sandra's alright is the obvious thing to do. To the point where she's wary of saying it ( typing it ) in the first place, because it's so sincere and genuine. Almost like bearing a part of her soul for everyone else to see, when she's used to quiet implications and songs that tell many stories to many people ( but one, for her. Always ). Naturally, Red hesitates; tries to frame it in a subtle enough way, because being direct has never suited her.
— When Akira speaks, she laughs. Startled, but quiet, but not entirely humorless either. The tense features on her face softening before she realizes it, returning to her phone with a renewed vigor ( much easier to speak about, than admitting the obvious ). ]
I'm pretty sure that's a guarantee.
I almost feel bad for the assholes. Almost. [ Should've picked a different orb to mess with, jerks. ]
cw: p5 spoilers not that anyone is reading this
At any rate, it's good to hear her in better spirits. The soft chime of her laughter brings a smile to Akira's face at last, and he nods in agreement. ]
...Let's go.
[ They have a bit of ground to cover. (Despite their renewed motivation, the first Temple turns up empty, as does the second. The worshippers are few at this time of day, meaning they're spared any uncomfortable scenarios starring the more passionate devotees.)
...It might help to change up their strategy, and after a third strike Akira decides to poll for an opinion. ]
Might help to split up.
[ He's... a little worried though. Even with the radicals largely routed, there must be at least a handful still out there. Red is as fierce as they come, but... she and Boxer had run into trouble earlier. Akira isn't so sure he wants to leave her by herself... ]

It's a better start than she could have hoped for; she's aware, perhaps better than many, that anger isn't necessarily the best emotion for productivity. Too much volatility, a split second, impulsive decision permanently changing everything ( Akira would know something about that, too, not that Red knows about it ). The clearer head helps, if at least a little. Humor easing some of the tension around them.
— Even if they're not successful in the slightest. It's one dead-end after another, toying with her temper in all the worst ways. Stopping isn't an option just yet — but it's a matter of how they want to do this.
And... splitting up is an idea, as risky as it is. She thins her lips despite herself, watching Akira's expressions for a moment. Looks out to the roads, which seem ... empty, almost. Afraid ( with good reason ). They don't have a lot of choice.
It takes her a moment, but she nods. Quickly types up a ] Keep in touch. [ In the hopes that that can... help, somehow. They're going to need every bit of it. ]
