Who: Shell Overlord (
steponme) & OPEN
What: Catch-all Log, now with open prompts!!
When: End of April - Start of May
Where: Olympia
Warning(s): Awkward boners, violence
Fight Club | cw: violence, mind control
[For those who venture down to the see the underground fights, they might find a peculiar scene waiting for them. Standing in the arena and awaiting his opponent is Shell. But for those who know him, there's really no questions that he's not exact;y the fighting type. What's he doing there? Well...]
A. VS (Previous CR only please!)
[...it looks like he's your opponent today. He doesn't look very intimidating, not particularly dressed down beyond having taken off his jacket and scarf, and he doesn't seem to be holding a weapon of any kind. But something you might notice is that a good chunk of the crowd seems to be stepping back. You probably haven't seen what he can do yet -- but even the refferee looks a little standoffish, climbing up over the barricade to stand atop it, out of reach. But as for Shell-- well, he didn't expect to see anyone he knew here.]
...what are you doing here?
B. Domination (OTA)
[...it looks like his battle is about to start. If you're smart, and you've chosen to follow the crowd in sitting in one of the higher seats, then you'll only see the "battle" play out. Shell enters, and just as his opponent starts getting into stance to fight, he suddenly freezes and collapses to his knees. As Shell steps closer, the man starts to scream, pleading for it to "stop" -- whatever it is. Eventually, Shell leans down and whispers something to him, and he starts screaming for the refferee that he gives up.]
[But if you were curious enough to stay as close to the ring as possible, then you'll get to experience what those sitting in the higher seats can only watch: a strong sense of fear and dread seemingly emanates off the battle arena, causing those sitting closest to experience effects similar to the man in the ring. Some start crying, others scream, but most of them only stand and stare in petrified silence. Even the refferee seems affected for a few moments, taking far too long to end the match and give Shell the win.]
[And the moment he does, the heavy atmosphere disappears as suddenly as it appeared. But as Shell heads off stage to wait for his next match, for some reason, he doesn't look very happy about it.]
[ooc: Feel free to alter prompts as you see fit! Let me know in Prompt A whether your character will be effected by Shell's pheromones, as they have a 25% chance of failing entirely. Please note that if you choose to have your character sit too close in Prompt B, they will be affected as well. If you'd like to avoid that, have them sit further back!]

Okay! I'll be sure to stop by sometime! [Looks like Chuuya's gonna learn the hard way that Shell has few boundaries when he likes someone -- he'll probably let him know while standing outside the front door.] You can drop by anytime you want, too! But err... definitely let me know first, since it can get a little dangerous around here if Reign is testing his perfumes...
no subject
[He didn’t expect Shell to look so happy about that, but he’s not complaining. His smile is almost blinding now, and Chuuya can’t even fight off the dokis anymore.]
Dangerous?
[Because of pheromones? Chuuya assumes that’s what it is.]
I’m still curious about those pheromones of yours.
no subject
Yeah... his perfumes back home were popular because they were similar to pheromones, so he's been trying to recreate similar effects here with, uh... mixed results.
[Uncomfortably mixed results.]
[But this isn't the first time he's asked about his pheromones. And while he kind of likes having a friend who has no idea what they're like, if he's that curious...]
...if you want, I can show you what they're like. But it's... kind of a mood killer? And I don't want to do anything to upset you after you've done so much for me.
no subject
Ah, Shell must mean the friendly atmosphere.]
It’s fine. I’m not gonna cry or hide or anything.
[Even if the effects are unsettling, they can’t be worse than Chuuya losing his mind to Corruption.]
Might as well experience it now so I know what to expect, right?
1/2
If you don't cry, you'd be one of the first... but all right.
[He really doesn't want to use it on him... so maybe he'll only use a little, just to give him a taste of how it feels?]
[Of course, even a little is a lot when you're an Overlord. And this time, Shell's pheromones will be working just as intended...]
no subject
[And then all at once, the atmosphere of the room changes.]
[The air feels heavy, almost painful to breathe, as Chuuya will be struck by an overwhelming sense of being in danger. Like a monster looming just over his shoulder, holding him down and seconds away from snapping him up in its jaws. He'll find it hard to even move, let alone fight back, as irrational as the thought to do so might be.]
[It can be resisted -- but it's difficult. Especially when he's never experienced something like this before.]
[But Shell's also not going to stop there... because he knows Chuuya is curious what makes pheromones so dangerous.]
[And so he approaches, slowly, not unlike a predator stalking its prey, and he leans in closer to whisper into Chuuya's ear--] ...kneel.
[Unlike the fear that tugged at his mind, the compulsion to obey the order will be much harder to resist.]
no subject
When’s the last time he felt true fear? Or that he was the prey instead of the hunter? It’s been a long, long time since Chuuya has felt truly helpless, and while he fights with every ounce of willpower he has, he barely moves an inch. It’s as if something has taken complete control of his body, just like a puppet on a string...
And then that order comes, and Chuuya can’t fight the urge to obediently kneel before Shell. Eyes wide, he finally realizes just how dangerous these pheromones are, and just why Shell had been so reluctant to use them.
In place of tears, however, is a defiant look, and although Chuuya is kneeling, it’s clear that he’s fighting to stand up. Shit, he can’t even speak right now...]
1/2
[But more than all of that, he hates that the sight of Chuuya kneeling in front of him like this sends an unfamiliar shiver down his spine.]
[...]
no subject
...you really didn't cry. That's-- that's good. I think I would have cried too, if that happened... and I already cry a lot.
no subject
Damn. You weren’t kidding about those being powerful.
[It’s impressive, and though there’s still a lingering sense of paranoia and unease in his mind, Chuuya seems to bounce back quickly. Shell actually looks more upset about it than Chuuya does, and after a few more seconds of recovering, Chuuya feels compelled to reach out and cup Shell’s cheek with a gloved hand.]
You really do cry too much.
no subject
You think so? [The hand on his cheek is nice. Somehow it felt so easy to slide into this casual intimacy with Chuuya -- hell, with anyone here, really. This gentle, softer side of himself he never thought he'd be able to show so openly...]
You know, back home... the way I looked when I was using my pheromone... that's the only "me" anyone ever saw. Even Reign thought that was the real me for a long time.
[He takes in a deep breath, calming down in tune with Chuuya, until he can manages a far more genuine smile.]
I'm glad I don't have to pretend to be like that anymore.
no subject
Besides, what better target for revenge or manipulation than a loved one?
But now...well. Chuuya still can’t let his guard down completely, but he’s much more willing to show that he cares now that he knows it (probably) won’t end in a bloodbath.
Now, though, Chuuya simply wants to keep Shell from crying again, because Christ, the guy is going to dehydrate if he keeps it up.]
You’re just you. Nobody expects you to be anything else here.
[Maybe they will eventually, if Shell moves up in Olympian society, but for now he can be himself.]
Gotta admit, I thought pheromones were just for sex up until now. Like animals mating or whatever.
[That’s a thing Chuuya just said.]
cw: Blood Bank is a gross canon and vampires are gross
[And it's a thing Shell should probably clarify and explain... huh...]
[Which means the blushing is back. That's better than crying, right?]
Oh, uhm. They're used for that... too. Probably more often than anything else, actually. Since we can change how they effect the people around us when we use them.
[Which is honestly just as skeevy as it sounds, and even Shell knows what it's like to face powerful pheromones in the bedroom.]
B-But I wasn't going to use something like that on you!
no subject
Didn’t say you would.
[Ah, he’s still on the floor...and still touching Shell. He lets his hand fall before pushing himself up on his feet. It’s difficult to believe that he couldn’t so much as speak on his own under the influence of pheromones.]
Do those work on vampires too?
no subject
[But oh, the moment is over. But it's not until Chuuya is up on his feet that Shell follows suit, face still flushed.]
It's a little different for vampires... stronger pheromones override weaker ones. That's why Blood Lords usually intermarry, so they can ensure their line of pheromones stays strong in their descendants. Otherwise they might fall out of power.
no subject
He already wants a slice tbh.Ah, so humans really were just livestock and playthings, then. Chuuya imagines that actually falling in love with one or having a child together was severely frowned upon.]
Are Reign’s much different than yours?
[He should leave soon. He has no reason to stay, yet here is, asking more questions. He’s curious, of course, but maybe part of him is also skeptical that Shell will seek out human blood all on his own just yet, and that leaving will somehow reset all this.
Clearly Chuuya needs to have more faith.]
no subject
[But does he need to leave? Maybe there was no particular reason to stay, but it's hardly like Shell wanted to chase him out. He liked the company. He even takes a seat on the couch again, pausing only for a moment when he sees the blood-stained scarf from before, frowning briefly before setting it aside.]
[His concerns aren't exactly unfounded. He might have agreed to drink human blood, but that doesn't mean he's going to give up on finding a different source eventually... nor does it mean he'll drink human blood regularly, either.]
Reign's the son of Blood Lord too, but his pheromones are weaker than mine are. If you could manage to stand up against mine, you'd probably have an easier time resisting his... not that he'd ever use them on you.
[Reign Fear: the vampire who absolutely doesn't live up to his name.]
no subject
He takes a seat next to Shell, huffing a laugh.]
Yeah. He’s not the kind of guy who’d do that.
[Reign Fear, the cuddliest vampire.
Chuuya settles back against the couch cushions, not paying the scarf any mind.]
So why are you and Reign so different from the other vampires in your world? You said that humans were treated like livestock or toys, but neither of you treat us like that.
no subject
I don't really know about Reign. He must have been cut from a kinder cloth... he was always kind and gentle, especially when we were kids. He never treated humans poorly, but... I was still surprised when I woke up and found out he had so many human friends here.
[Which Shell might have expressed in some regard when they first met on the station. Reign wasn't that kind of abnormal, after all.]
But as for me... I've always loved humans.
[At some point while talking, he finds himself leaning back against the cushions as well, until his head finds a place to rest against Chuuya's shoulder.]
My father was busy when I was a child, so he had a human look after me instead. He was always so warm and kind to me... even though I know my father must have treated him poorly. But it was because of him that I started caring about humans. And even back then... I didn't like drinking their blood either.
no subject
[And he’d cried upon seeing a simulation of the storm. Crypires, man.
Chuuya is a little bit surprised when Shell rests his head on his shoulder, but he doesn’t protest or move away, instead settling next to him like it’s a perfectly natural thing to do.]
Sounds like he was a better father than your blood one.
[Of course Chuuya wouldn’t know anything about that given his background.]
I guess that makes sense.
[Feeding on humans when you’ve been essentially raised by one must be incredibly difficult, but hey, you do what you gotta do to survive.
Chuuya leans against Shell just a little, not unlike a cat leaning into someone’s touch.]
Do you like it better in a world where humans outnumber vampires?
no subject
...he was, yeah.
[It's said with a little uncertainty, but that's probably because he's never though of Ellie as a replacement for his his father. He felt like so much more than that -- like someone Shell wanted to hold and protect, rather then the other way around.]
I don't know if it's fair to judge this place when I've only been here for so long, but... I do like it a lot more.
It's a little strange, and I'm still not really used to having to explain what a vampire is every time it comes up. But it's nice not having to pretend to be someone I'm not.
no subject
I have to explain what a Mafia is to everybody too. Guess it was mostly just a thing in my world.
[Leave it to Chuuya to announce that he was a criminal back home to like, everyone.]
Vampires are pretty popular where I come from, you know.
no subject
[Chuuya are you about to tell him about Twilight.......]
no subject
[Like teenage girls...]
Some people find the whole biting thing sexy.
[”Some people”.]
no subject
[And here we see Shell, totally seeing through Chuuya's attempt to fluster him. Well, it's not going to work!! At least for like five seconds, while Shell actually manages a fairly teasing response... but not really thinking about how he'll handle whatever the answer will be.]
[But regardless: he tilts his head up at Chuuya, shooting him a playful grin.]
And are you one of those people?
