A. The Sanctuary

[Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Fraser and Dr. Watson, Venom's expanded his knowledge on anatomy, first aid, and some level of bedside manner. He furthered his training through field work, reading books, studying potions and salves to an extent, and finally learning his first healing spells. He'd come a long way from being an assassin and knowing only how to treat the most fleeting of wounds. It's almost like he's a proper healer now, hence his decision to change jobs.

Meaning it's time for him to step out of the shadows.

He went through hell and back trying to do the same for the Guild, but to do it for himself is weird. Though he had planned on telling 2cave that he was going to protect the town before the storm hit. Maybe he's taking the steps to do that in his new home. Or maybe he's just overthinking everything again as he's organizing books and herbs for the more experienced healers.

For those who know Venom, his hair's tied back, save for his bangs.]

Pardon me, but I'm rather new here. Would these dried petals go with the dried herbs or elsewhere?

B. Tea Break - somewhere outside

[Between organizing and restocking supplies, Venom catches a breather. He'll be outside by a large tree, having the tea he packed along with a light lunch of fruit and cheeses. And by light he means a healthy wedge of the Olympian equivalent to brie. Maybe if someone drops by he'll share it with them!]

C. Wildcard

[Dealer's choice here! Maybe spot him helping with cleaning, or possibly lending a hand in the kitchen. Anything to help him prove his worth at his new job.]

[Venom accepts the potions, noting how tired Anders looks as he goes to clean up the mess. He carefully places the potions on the third shelf with the others.]

I don't mean to pry, but how long have you been working today?

[It's like Anders has been working for days on end.]

( It does look that way, with how worn out and out of it he seems. He's been going home at the end of all his shifts, to see Ocelot and DD and take his kitten home, but he hasn't been sleeping much. Anxiety has kept awake, made it hard for him to catch anythings more than a few winks every night. Anders is touched by Venom's concern, but he waves it off. )

Only since this morning.

( Once he finishes cleaning the potion, he uses the dirty rags to collect the glass shards and throw them into the rubbish bin. A sigh escapes him. )

It was an accident, nothing more. You don't need to worry about me.

[It seems much longer than that, but he won't pry despite how tired Anders looks.]

You're my friend. I think it's normal to worry about you, even a little bit.

[He helps sweep some of the stray glass shards into a bin for easier disposal.]

( Venom is kind. Anders can't help but feel a warmth spreading through his chest when the other man calls him his friend. )

Well, I'm sorry for making you worry, then.

( His expression saddens a bit, despite the happiness he feels bubbling in his heart. Once the last of the shards are thrown into the garbage, Anders tosses the rags onto the table, trying not to sigh again. )

Have you finished counting the inventory? Maybe we could take on a short break.

I have it all written down, just as requested.

[He hands Anders the inventory paperwork once the mess is cleaned up.]

That sounds good. I feel like I've been counting for ages.

[And it's weird doing it here as opposed to on the battlefield.]

( He takes the slip of paper, folding it up carefully and stowing it in one of his belt pouches before leading Venom toward the door. )

Did all that counting work up an appetite? I think I'm overdue for a bite to eat.

( Justice didn't try bringing him anything for lunch today, so naturally, Anders forgot. )

Apparently it did. I'm more peckish than I thought.

[As his stomach rumbles almost on cue. He can't wait to see what's available for him to cook.]

Did you bring something from home?

No.

( He's not forward thinking enough for that. He hardly even remembers to grab himself some breakfast before taking care of his kitten and heading out the door. If Venom's stomach hadn't rumbled, Anders probably would have looked a little more sheepish about it. Instead, he just lets a tiny smile touch his features. )

I usually eat whatever they have in the kitchen. I take it you didn't bring anything either?

I didn't bring anything today. I wanted to see what our options were in the kitchen. I'm sure I can make something for the both of us.

[Maybe a light rice dish or grilled vegetables are in order. Venom's in the mood for anything, mostly because he's hungry.]

( Anders isn't much of a picky eater. He couldn't afford to be one, after living three and a half years in the slums, eating nothing but scraps and stale food and whatever else he could get his hands on. )

You are too kind. ( Anders was just going to make a sandwich or something but he's not going to complain about this. )

I could help you, if you'd like.

I can definitely use help chopping vegetables. I was thinking of grilling some of them and making rice with it. How does that sound?

[He can always use the spare veggies for other dishes.]

That sounds great.

( The last time he had rice, Justice overcooked it, and burnt the first batch, so he's looking forward to trying Venom's. He smiles at his friend. )

Shall we go, then? I might need to find a little something for Commander Nibbles to eat, too.

( She's around here somewhere. Probably off trying to play with someone's feet. )

How is Commander Nibbles these days?

[The last he saw the kitten she was trying to eat his gloves. Luckily they were a gift and were far sturdier than they looked.]

She's fine. She's grown into more of a menace since the last time you saw her.

( That's why Anders doesn't want to leave her alone in the apartment for too long. He's afraid what about what he'll find when he gets back. )

I've been trying to teach her not to scratch up the furniture.

I didn't know cats could be so destructive. Perhaps finding someone to look after her while you're working?

[Yes, he's suggesting a babysitter for Nibbles.]

I suppose one of my friends could probably watch her.

( Ocelot or Justice. Justice would probably need a list of instructions, though, since he's proven time and again he has no idea how to care for mortal beings, animal or otherwise. Ocelot would probably just teach his cat how to sniff out bombs. )

I'll have to think about it. ( After he gets something to eat. )

[If Venom had to pick, he'd pick Ocelot too. Justice is a sweetheart but still had much to learn about caring for other mortal creatures. And the world could benefit from more bomb-sniffing cats.]

I'd offer but I'm not sure Pepper would like having a cat in the house.

Don't worry about it. Does Pepper get jealous very easily?

( Or is he territorial? Anders doesn't know much about monkeys but cats are usually very territorial, and can sometimes get jealous. )

Not that I've seen, but he hasn't been around other animals, either.

[He should probably look into socializing him with other pets. Maybe he can make friends with dogs and cats.]
