Atsushi has been planning this for a while now, but needless to say, a certain dragon forced him to adapt his plans, and arguably not for the better. Still, he's determined to make this work! Diva told him she's never had a birthday party in all of her long life, and that is just not all right - so of course he promised her she'd have one this year.
He... should have maybe not said anything, and just done this in secret. Or at least he should have known better than to ask Diva what kind of party she wanted, because she sure had a lot of wishes... That's Diva for you, though. Besides, after more than 170 years without a birthday party, she deserves to say exactly what she wants!
Atsushi has spent more time than he probably should have, decorating a part of Nadril's cave system with fairy lights and anything else he could find. For being in a cave, the setting is very atmospheric! There's food, drinks, and recorded music - not all of it suited for a party, but there are instruments too, for the more talented guests.
A masquerade was Diva's first and foremost wish, and with everyone having limited means and fewer possessions here, masks have kindly been provided by your hosts at the entrance. Some are classy; some are a little unusual; some are -....... Well, you should probably be at the party in time, so all the good masks haven't been taken yet. How well have you disguised yourself? Did you bother to hide your identity at all?
A gift for the birthday vamp is appreciated, but your presence is the biggest gift. There's no better time than the present to forget the unresolved situation elsewhere on the planet, and have a little fun together!

I've been okay. [Or not, with the whole losing his new home, losing his pet, and somehow being able to resurrect people now. But Atsushi is gonna say he's okay.] How are you? Have you been holding up okay in this place?

...Okay so maybe disregard that last part. The important piece is that they're here now, and able to catch up! Kinda. ]
I'm fine! [ Except for the social tensions all over the place, constant world-building, (and world-destroying), and the ever-growing plethora of unfriendly plants and animals trying to maim or kill, that is. It's enough to leave him feeling, well... a little rundown, let's say. Hence his appearance at this party -- it's a good break from all the action, you know? Much needed, as well. But, much like Atsushi, he's going to say he's fine, too. It's a far more palatable answer than, say, the world is burning, nothing is safe and everyone is in danger, you know? ]
If nothing else, at least the changing scenery keeps things interesting. [ A tiny rub to the back of his neck. ] I've got a whole backlog of places I still need to explore, books I need to read -- you name it!

Still, having their new home taken away yet again is -... Well, it's more unsettling than Atsushi would have expected. Clearly he's even more used to living here than he thought - but after more than a year, that's no surprise.]

Honestly, I haven't explored as much as I would have liked. I've been busy trying to put this party together, mostly...
[He'd promised Diva, so no regrets! Still, he'd also expected to be in Olympia for it, with access to all his possessions and connections, such as they are.]

There’s a patter of laughter from Sorey at the comment about the summer heat, (or lack thereof), along with a helpless sort of shrug. ]
Hey, I’m sure it’s hot somewhere!
[ With all the things they’ve discovered in this place so far? Oh yeah. He’s positive there’s a warmer climate out there for all those who would complain, whether discovered or yet to be. ]
At least it looks like your time and effort have paid off!

[It has indeed turned out to be a pretty decent party! Not as grand a one as Atsushi had hoped to throw in Olympia, but definitely not bad, considering the circumstances.]
I wasn't really planning anything, but... I definitely don't have any other plans after the party.

[ Truth be told, a dip in Flona Cove sounds downright amazing right now. But that’s for later! As it stands, the metaphorical conversation brakes are abruptly slammed on when Atsushi says the magical ‘e-word’.

All right, maybe Atsushi isn't quite as obsessed with exploring as Sorey is, but he enjoys it a lot - and doing it with an (over)enthused friend makes for twice the fun!]

Anyway. With not much more than perhaps a cleared throat, they’ll both kind of... let that topic drop for now, with the understanding that the issue itself has been successfully, clearly understated. Mission accomplished.
Sorey can’t help but chuckle a bit at the comment about their friendship. Since when has it had such maintenance requirements? ]
It won’t, I promise! [ He’ll even reach out to pat Atsushi on the shoulder then, just to prove a point. ] Even if we don’t have time to explore -- even if we’re in different cities with different views and affiliations, we’ll always be friends!
[ And he actually, honestly means that. He’s yet to lose a single friend in this place since he arrived, and a good chunk of them denounced Olympia staunchly. One could say Sorey has mastered the art of ‘agreeing to disagree’. ]

Atsushi's face lights up at that. It's not that he ever doubted their friendship, but hearing Sorey put it that way still warms his heart in ways he wouldn't have imagined possible a year or so ago.]

Atsushi’s face is so expressive... which really doubles the internal reward Sorey gets for seeing such a vibrant, almost glowing response upon it. It’s quite the ador(k)able moment. ]
Yeah! [ For a split second, he almost puts up his fist in familiar greeting before refraining. That’s actually a huge compliment -- that Atsushi would remind him so much of Mikleo, he’s reflexively inclined to offer their ‘secret handshake’. Be flattered, Soosh! ]

Let's see... Obviously we should take inventory of the damages first. Olympia is going to need a lot of work.

Maybe, now that we know what's here in the north, we can explore the area between here and Olympia? And there's a lot to the east that I don't feel familiar with yet either. Then again, I was also thinking it might be good to make a map with all the magical springs around Flona and Wyver, to list their effects and see if they change over time...

I agree about Olympia. If they haven’t surveyed it already, we should definitely do that.
[ He is also a diligent and Good Boy, you see. And no matter what Olympia has and hasn’t done, and what its founders do or do not deserve, he hates to see it in ruin -- and Sorey loves ruins!

That's kind of scary to consider. It's bad enough being away from there, abandoning the city and Daifuku and his job (WHAT IF HE GETS FIRED?!), but if people actually notice he's missing, he'll feel even worse.
