Catch-All
Who: You Watanabe (
ayes) & all comers!
What: Missions and miscellaneous stuff
When: Tail end of September
Where: Olympia, Nadril, Flona Cove, up in spaaaaaaaace
Warning(s): Shouldn't be any!
[A: Tundra Hunting (Nadril Quest)]
[You is determined to be helpful. She is going to help people. She's going to! And while she knows she's not much for fighting or anything like that, she definitely can explore and catalog flora and fauna. That's definitely in her wheelhouse!
Why did it have to be up here where it's cold, though?
You has her sketchbook, she has a nice warm parka, so she's all set, but...] Geez, it's really hard to hold a pencil with gloves on.
[B: Pep Rally (Olympia Quest)]
[One thing You is absolutely certain she can do, though, is put on a performance. Even if it wasn't for her newfound magic powers, there's nothing like a good old-fashioned song to boost your mood, right?
She'll leave the fighting and the jousting to other people. Instead, she's going to get on stage and start singing a tune fitting the end of summer. Catch her afterwards? Join in the performance?]
[C: Farewell, Summertime]
[The ocean soothes her. It always has. It's no surprise that after everything, all the uncertainty and stress of the dragon's rise and its aftermath, You would go to the beach near Flona Cove to bid farewell to her beloved summer weather.
So you'll find her sitting on the warm beach sand, looking out on the waves, lost in thought--
--and suddenly standing up, pulling her clothes off, and dashing into the waves. At least she's wearing a swimsuit underneath, so it looks like she planned for this?
Boy the water is a lot colder than it looks. Don't mind her sudden shriek as she jumps in.]
[D: The Final Frontier]
[It rarely occurs to You that she can just... go up to the station whenever she wants. She spends so much time down on the planet, after all. And besides, up here has always kind of unsettled her? It's so clinical and futuristic, not homey and personable like down in Olympia, for all the island's faults.
Still, she can't help but take some time in the mess hall and observatory, looking down at the planet orbiting beneath her. It's really a magnificent sight.]
It really looks so small from up here... like, everything that everyone's trying to fight over or to accomplish-- it's really over just a tiny bit of land, isn't it? There's so much.
[She remarks, to nobody in particular. To you, really-- you're next to her.]

He was certainly used to colder weather from living in Germany, but it was something else; up all the way in the mountains doing research.
He looked over at you and nodded, His own organizer and fountain pen in hand, trying to take extensive notes.]
It certainly is. We'll do the best we can and then find shelter where we can compile our notes.
no subject
I've, uh... never done a nature sketch before, though. We just go out and draw pictures of anything interesting we see? How do we know what they're named?
no subject
[He was never good with arts and crafts, both his close friends were definitely more gifted in that area. He was just going to repress a childhood memory about failing at origami, as well while he was at it.]
I suppose we can describe what it looks like to the best of our abilities...and perhaps see if there is a name for it in this world already?
no subject
Right?] How about I do the sketch and you write down anything else about it! And then we'll take it back and compare notes.
no subject
[With that detail squared away he was ready.]
Now, where do we begin?
As much as I can see its just snow...
no subject
[She says, with a thoughtful expression on her face.] Well, I'd probably be in a cave, or underneath the snow, right? Maybe near a river?
no subject
[He crossed his arms over his coat in an effort to stay warm as he thought about it.]
A cave or a river sounds like it would be good to go by, Perhaps if we weave our way against this rock wall we may come upon one?
As longa s we don't run into a bear or anything.

D! About time we had these two meet~
[Sanzo was mutually unused to such a sight. Truthfully, he'd much rather spend his time at the station locked up among the sleeping corpses in the stasis chambers than this. There was just something so very tense about the concept of not actually being on the ground, about floating up so many miles high above it where down was up and up was down.
It was for that reason that, most of his time spent in the mess hall, he refused to look up at the sight of the planet and stars above him.
And yet here he was, right now, stuck staring up at it.
Thanks You.]
... Best not to think about it.
[And with that he quickly pulls his eyes away from the sight, crossing his arms within the sleeves of his robes.]
Otherwise you'll just end up getting caught up in circling thoughts of futility. That ain't living in my opinion.
yes!
N-no, that's not... I mean, I didn't think it was futile or anything!
I guess I just thought that it seemed a little silly, that's all. It's such a small island.
no subject
... A small island?
You mean El Nysa?
[At least that bit had managed to catch his attention though.]
no subject
Olympia and Wyver and everything in between-- they've been fighting for so long, but it's not like it's... "hey, let's rule the world." It's just one little island.
no subject
[Which made things all the more worrying when it came to how small the view from up here had made it seem. Were all their own worlds much the same before they were destroyed? So small in comparison?]
And to think, because of the mess up of a small handful of people on this continent the entire planet was nearly decimated.
[He had a fairly bleak outlook on things.]
no subject
Pretty sure you can't take a train from one side of a continent to the other in a few hours.
[You, this is not the time to quibble over the definition.]

D!
He's got his phone out and has been texting back and forth with Ana about the situation, wandering the Station in a distracted haze as he comes to terms with the fact that they're going to have to come clean to Gabriel about at least some of his future.
So he may as well be on another planet when someone speaks to him, his head snapping up as he realizes it's You. It's been some time since he's seen her, most likely because she's based in Olympia, but Ana will be relieved to know she's all right. ]
As far as we know, that planet down there is all we've got.
[ He heaves out a breath and shrugs. ]
I get what you're saying, though. It kind of puts things into perspective.
no subject
She looks at him as he answers, and then turns her gaze back down to the planet below.] I hope it isn't. One planet, left out of everybody's universes... that's a little scary.
But even if it is, that's just more reason that people need to stop fighting about dumb things, right? Olympia and Wyver can't fight over one tiny island forever.
no subject
In my experience? There's not much that will stop people from fighting over things that don't matter.
[ War is an inevitability. 76 dedicated most of his life toward championing for peace, but he's not convinced that it did any good. ]
I think everything with Ysevrai has at least made them forget about the infighting for a while, though. No telling how long that'll last.
no subject
...but she really can't believe that, right?] I hope it'll be different, now.
I mean, why do they hate each other? The ones who fought each other first were a long time ago. So now they're just enemies for the sake of being enemies.
no subject
[ The people of El Nysa simply aren't used to it being any other way, and there's a clear culture difference between Olympians and Wyverns on top of that. Add the tension that comes with having strange refugees running around, and it all leads to what looks to them to be pointless infighting.
A pause, and then he asks You: ] You been staying out of trouble? [ That seems unlikely with how things have been lately, but it seems like he should ask. Because Ana would want it. ]
no subject
But it's still a little sad.
And then when he asks her the question, she sits up straight.] Um, yes sir! I haven't done anything dumb since the dragon attack, sir!
Er, I tried to help out with the ghosts? Ms. Ana was there, so it was safe!

D
He's mainly quietly with his own thoughts as he looks out the window, glancing over at You when she addresses him. He considers her words for a moment; she's not wrong in what she said, but...]
I suppose. But when you're down there, it can all seem like so much.
no subject
The people down there don't know that there's a whole big universe or even a giant planet outside of the island. They just think that it's all that matters. And like, as far as they know, they aren't wrong... I wish we could tell them the truth.
no subject
[Though simple, his response is serious.]
no subject
--is what they said to us.
no subject
The people now know that the Natha exist; [Thanks, Ysverai!] I don't see the harm in them learning the truth. Though whether or not they'll believe it is a different matter.
