[You is determined to be helpful. She is going to help people. She's going to! And while she knows she's not much for fighting or anything like that, she definitely can explore and catalog flora and fauna. That's definitely in her wheelhouse!

Why did it have to be up here where it's cold, though?

You has her sketchbook, she has a nice warm parka, so she's all set, but...] Geez, it's really hard to hold a pencil with gloves on.

[One thing You is absolutely certain she can do, though, is put on a performance. Even if it wasn't for her newfound magic powers, there's nothing like a good old-fashioned song to boost your mood, right?

She'll leave the fighting and the jousting to other people. Instead, she's going to get on stage and start singing a tune fitting the end of summer. Catch her afterwards? Join in the performance?]

[C: Farewell, Summertime]

[The ocean soothes her. It always has. It's no surprise that after everything, all the uncertainty and stress of the dragon's rise and its aftermath, You would go to the beach near Flona Cove to bid farewell to her beloved summer weather.

So you'll find her sitting on the warm beach sand, looking out on the waves, lost in thought--

--and suddenly standing up, pulling her clothes off, and dashing into the waves. At least she's wearing a swimsuit underneath, so it looks like she planned for this?

Boy the water is a lot colder than it looks. Don't mind her sudden shriek as she jumps in.]

[It rarely occurs to You that she can just... go up to the station whenever she wants. She spends so much time down on the planet, after all. And besides, up here has always kind of unsettled her? It's so clinical and futuristic, not homey and personable like down in Olympia, for all the island's faults.

Still, she can't help but take some time in the mess hall and observatory, looking down at the planet orbiting beneath her. It's really a magnificent sight.]

It really looks so small from up here... like, everything that everyone's trying to fight over or to accomplish-- it's really over just a tiny bit of land, isn't it? There's so much.

[She remarks, to nobody in particular. To you, really-- you're next to her.]

[That's true, maybe.

But it's still a little sad.

And then when he asks her the question, she sits up straight.] Um, yes sir! I haven't done anything dumb since the dragon attack, sir!

Er, I tried to help out with the ghosts? Ms. Ana was there, so it was safe!

[ Since the dragon attack. That doesn't sound good, but Jack is pretty sure that if something catastrophic had happened to You, Ana would have mentioned it to him.

Not that messing around with ghosts is much better, but it's true that Ana's presence probably means everything was fine. ]

What did your ghost want?

[ Everyone's been having to deal with them, it seems. ]

[ayes]

I'm not actually sure, to be honest. There were a bunch of them. [She admits, and then adds:] I know that my music can heal and inspire people, so I thought that maybe if I sang a song for them, it'd help them, too?

And it did. I think.

[ Singing to ghosts to put them at ease and help them pass on, huh? It's a method that 76 hasn't seen anyone else try, but You seems to think that it had been effective. ]

Well, if they left you alone after that, I'd say that it worked, yeah.

[ There's a pause, and he has to ask. ] When you say that your singing can heal people, just how literal are you being? [ At this point he's almost used to everyone here having some sort of weird power. ]

[ayes]

Oh, like... really literal. It's something that the Orbiters gave me, I think.

If I sing, anyone within half a mile can hear me, and it can heal injuries as long as they aren't so bad-- cuts and stuff-- and it makes people feel, uh, energized?

I don't know how it works, but it does.

[ Strange as this ability of You's might be, 76 can't deny that it would probably have some useful applications too. Both healing wounds and upping morale are helpful skills to have when they're in the middle of a war of sorts. ]

So you got this power before Darma sacrificed herself?

[ He doesn't even like describing it that way, but he's not sure what other word to use. ]

[She answers with a short nod.] Yeah. I think so, anyway. I got a message being all "hey, your singing can inspire people" but I thought it was kinda like... metaphorical, you know?

I never really tested out what it could do until the dragon.

[ With the effect that Ysevrai had on people, and how it could make them feel, You's newfound power must have been particularly useful. It doesn't mean she should have been that close to the battle, but it looks like she made it out okay. ]

What kind of message? On your phone? Did it say anything about why they decided to give it to you?

[ You's not the only one to be imbued with special powers by the Natha, but 76 would like to find the common denominator. ]

Yeah, it was a message on my phone-- and they didn't give any reason or anything, just... hey, this is a thing now! Kinda like when they gave me a paddleboard, but with... a power. It was right after I did the Valentine's Day party so I thought maybe it was a reward for throwing a party for people?

[ 76 kind of doubts that a Valentine's Day party has anything to do with it, but it's not like he has a better guess. He'd need to know more information about all the people who've gotten powers in this way to even speculate on the reason behind it. ]

Do you know anyone else who got the same treatment?

[ You is as good a starting point as any. She's bound to know a good percentage of the other refugees, given her personality. ]

Which part? Getting powers, or throwing a party?

[ Shouldn't it be obvious? 76 manages to hold back on a frustrated sigh, at least. ]

Oh, right! Duh, that should've been obvious.

Hmm... I haven't really talked with many people about their powers. I know my friend Yoshiko really wants them, so I'll see if she ever gets them? And then we can have another point of information!

[ There isn't much to go on at all, not that 76 should have expected a young girl to have all the answers. He'll just need to do his own investigation, which he'd already planned on. ]
