OPEN TO CR (and +1's, why not!!)
Who: Peggy Carter (
revlon), Steve Rogers (
starspangle) & Various
What: The wedding!
When: Dec 1
Where: Thesa Station
Warning(s): N/A
[ To anyone who knows Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, this wedding has been a long time coming β almost too long. So perhaps it isn't surprising at all that once they finally got engaged, the ceremony fell into place fairly quickly. Neither of them are ones for much fuss so they've decided to have it up on the station so friends and guests can attend no matter where on the island they live. And while the exhibition hall on Thesa isn't the English countryside or a church in New York City, this day is still uniquely theirs and intrinsically tied to the life they've made here.
It's an intimate late afternoon ceremony with wide windows overlooking the vastness of space and its twinkling stars. Steve, in a sharp suit one might recognise from last December's holiday gala, has Bucky Barnes as his best man and Claire Fraser is there for Peggy as matron of honour β the first friend she made in this new world. With so many absent friends, the bride decides to walk herself down the short aisle and the wedding gown is an understated, elegant affair in satin with a touch of beaded lace, expertly tailored by Claire's own hands. When the bride and groom meet, Captain Kirk begins:
Whatever your fancy, mingle and enjoy! ]

With so many absent friends, the bride decides to walk herself down the short aisle and the wedding gown is an understated, elegant affair in satin with a touch of beaded lace, expertly tailored by Claire's own hands. When the bride and groom meet, Captain Kirk begins:
"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship's masters have had one happy privilege. That of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony. And so we are gathered here today with you, Margaret Elizabeth Carter, and you, Steven Grant Rogers, in the sight of your fellows..."And once they are pronounced Mr and Mrs Rogers, the party can officially begin! There's a hodgepodge dinner buffet courtesy of the mess hall (and cake later, of course) so perhaps you're trying to decide where to start first; or maybe you've forgone the food for the self-service bar with wine, whiskey, and beer. (Champagne for the toast!) If tipple isn't to your tastes, then maybe the dancing is β it isn't big band swing music, but it's close enough, and you're attending the wedding of some golden oldies from the 1940s so there's sure to be someone cutting a rug. Or maybe you're taking a breather from all that and taking in the view of the stars and the planet below.
Whatever your fancy, mingle and enjoy! ]

I just wanted to say congratulations. We haven't had a chance to meet yet, but I'm Brianna. Claire's daughter. [ As if Peggy wouldn't know; she's sure the woman does. ] You look beautiful.

[ She doesn't hug as a rule but that doesn't mean she isn't completely delighted by seeing Claire's daughter, nor does it stop her from reaching out to touch her shoulder in greeting. Of course she's heard stories, but the wild orbit of their lives in El Nysa has meant tragically little overlap β when better than a wedding rather than some dire rescue or battle on a field? (Too typical for her, even here. Especially here.) ]
Thank you, so do you. [ They are closer in age than she is to the other woman's mother. Strange, that. ] It's wonderful to see you.

It's nice to finally put a face to the name. Between Steve rescuing me and my mother enjoying you so much, I've heard a lot of good things about you.
[ Superficial things, sure, no deep dives into her personality. Just enough to know she's a good person, that Steve loves her deeply, and her mother is very fond her of. ]
How long did you have to plan all of this? It's amazing, and the food is really good.

Oh, [ she huffs out a laugh, waving a hand at the room, ] a few weeks? We didn't want too much of a fuss, which I imagine would have happened if we held it on the surface. All these "Theseans" gathered in one place. No, we wanted to keep it simple, and this came together beautifully. Your mother helped with my dress, of course. I'm told she'd made quite a few things for you in her day.

I loved being in school plays, so she had to make a lot of different costumes throughout my school career. I tried to learn how to sew but I was never as good as her. Decent, not good.
[ Bree really takes a step back to look at Peggy's dress now. ][ In that moment, Bree realizes what she thought was lost - her mother doing things like this at her own wedding - might be gained again. Maybe. One day. ]

Oh, your mother is excellent.
[ She leans in, as if sharing a secret. ]
In fact, my mother made my first wedding dress. I didn't go through with it, of course, [ she adds, brows raising, ] but it was so much more elaborate. Not quite my style, all told. But this is just β perfect. [ And she is so grateful for Claire's help at such short notice. ] But you mentioned the theatre! Do you still do it?

Oh, no. I mean not for lack of want, I think. It's more speeches and presentations in front of classmates and professors now. And MIT isn't really known for its drama programs.
[ She realizes though, a little belatedly: ]
I guess that doesn't matter anymore, though. Is there anything like that here to get involved in?
