OPEN TO CR (and +1's, why not!!)

Who: Peggy Carter ([personal profile] revlon), Steve Rogers ([personal profile] starspangle) & Various
What: The wedding!
When: Dec 1
Where: Thesa Station
Warning(s): N/A

[ To anyone who knows Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, this wedding has been a long time coming β€” almost too long. So perhaps it isn't surprising at all that once they finally got engaged, the ceremony fell into place fairly quickly. Neither of them are ones for much fuss so they've decided to have it up on the station so friends and guests can attend no matter where on the island they live. And while the exhibition hall on Thesa isn't the English countryside or a church in New York City, this day is still uniquely theirs and intrinsically tied to the life they've made here.

It's an intimate late afternoon ceremony with wide windows overlooking the vastness of space and its twinkling stars. Steve, in a sharp suit one might recognise from last December's holiday gala, has Bucky Barnes as his best man and Claire Fraser is there for Peggy as matron of honour β€” the first friend she made in this new world. With so many absent friends, the bride decides to walk herself down the short aisle and the wedding gown is an understated, elegant affair in satin with a touch of beaded lace, expertly tailored by Claire's own hands. When the bride and groom meet, Captain Kirk begins:

"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship's masters have had one happy privilege. That of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony. And so we are gathered here today with you, Margaret Elizabeth Carter, and you, Steven Grant Rogers, in the sight of your fellows..."
And once they are pronounced Mr and Mrs Rogers, the party can officially begin! There's a hodgepodge dinner buffet courtesy of the mess hall (and cake later, of course) so perhaps you're trying to decide where to start first; or maybe you've forgone the food for the self-service bar with wine, whiskey, and beer. (Champagne for the toast!) If tipple isn't to your tastes, then maybe the dancing is β€” it isn't big band swing music, but it's close enough, and you're attending the wedding of some golden oldies from the 1940s so there's sure to be someone cutting a rug. Or maybe you're taking a breather from all that and taking in the view of the stars and the planet below.

Whatever your fancy, mingle and enjoy! ]

[If they were back on Earth, circa 2015, Annie could think of a lot of gifts to say thank you, but the universal gift between the alphabetical agencies and people who wear rank is usually something above a forty proof. She thinks she's done well and she's glad that he doesn't think that it's substandard as far as gifts go.]

Did they really? [Annie's eyebrows go up as she gives the couple another look. They do have kind of an air about them that denotes an extra familiarity, but she'd chalked it up to length of time planetside. Still, they're obviously very in love.

Taking what Jim's said into account, however, she wonders why - if they'd met at home - they'd never had the opportunity. She doesn't ask, instead hiding the somewhat cynical side she has.]
I'm glad it's worked out for someone then.

[ Maybe somebody went to college in another country, maybe they broke up, maybe the groom turned into a werewolf and ran off for a few years, maybe they just got nicked here before they could get it done. It's a mystery for the ages! That Jim is, actually, only recently inducted into; previously he just figured they were both workaholics with no time for it. ]

Yeah, it's good. If I end up married to somebody from home, it'll be my Scottish chief engineer. [ :') ] But neither of us are the type. Almost too bad, we'd be cute.

[Annie understands being a workaholic more than she does werewolves, so that's where her mind goes, just from experience. Being a workaholic and also the whole globetrotting and also finding someone who then gets murdered - kind of puts a hold on the whole 'love' business.

When Jim says he'd end up married to his chief engineer, he earns a bright laugh.]
I bet you would be cute! You're already doing better than I am. You'll just have to find someone to officiate. [She pretends to think about it, her chest actually aching as the reminder of what happened the last time she thought she had it all.] If I ended up married to someone from home, he'd have to first wake up, but it'd be my blind tech ops support.

[She shrugs as if to say 'what can you do'.]
