OPEN TO CR (and +1's, why not!!)
Who: Peggy Carter (
revlon), Steve Rogers (
starspangle) & Various
What: The wedding!
When: Dec 1
Where: Thesa Station
Warning(s): N/A
[ To anyone who knows Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, this wedding has been a long time coming β almost too long. So perhaps it isn't surprising at all that once they finally got engaged, the ceremony fell into place fairly quickly. Neither of them are ones for much fuss so they've decided to have it up on the station so friends and guests can attend no matter where on the island they live. And while the exhibition hall on Thesa isn't the English countryside or a church in New York City, this day is still uniquely theirs and intrinsically tied to the life they've made here.
It's an intimate late afternoon ceremony with wide windows overlooking the vastness of space and its twinkling stars. Steve, in a sharp suit one might recognise from last December's holiday gala, has Bucky Barnes as his best man and Claire Fraser is there for Peggy as matron of honour β the first friend she made in this new world. With so many absent friends, the bride decides to walk herself down the short aisle and the wedding gown is an understated, elegant affair in satin with a touch of beaded lace, expertly tailored by Claire's own hands. When the bride and groom meet, Captain Kirk begins:
Whatever your fancy, mingle and enjoy! ]

When the bride and groom meet, Captain Kirk begins:
"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship's masters have had one happy privilege. That of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony. And so we are gathered here today with you, Margaret Elizabeth Carter, and you, Steven Grant Rogers, in the sight of your fellows..."And once they are pronounced Mr and Mrs Rogers, the party can officially begin! There's a hodgepodge dinner buffet courtesy of the mess hall (and cake later, of course) so perhaps you're trying to decide where to start first; or maybe you've forgone the food for the self-service bar with wine, whiskey, and beer. (Champagne for the toast!) If tipple isn't to your tastes, then maybe the dancing is β it isn't big band swing music, but it's close enough, and you're attending the wedding of some golden oldies from the 1940s so there's sure to be someone cutting a rug. Or maybe you're taking a breather from all that and taking in the view of the stars and the planet below.
Whatever your fancy, mingle and enjoy! ]
the groom | ota
He'll be by his wife's (boy, there's a word that feels surreal as hell) side for most of the evening, but if not, Steve can be found snacking on various eats, by the bar for a drink he can't get drunk off of, or hovering around the dance-floor. He'd had his first dance with Peggy and he'd been (surprisingly) coordinated the entire time - he might even be coerced into giving it another go, if asked.
Either way, feel free to greet the groom whose heart is a hundred times lighter than it's ever been. ]

Congratulations, sweetheart.

[ The hug he returns is equally full of feeling - happiness and gratitude: for the day, for his friends made here, for this entire day.
His smile is wide and heartfelt. ]
And thank you for coming. We've been through a hell of a lot, the three of us.

[Sorry, Steve.]

Hello, [ she says softly, almost nose to nose with him and voice a bare whisper suffused with warmth, ] husband.

[ Steve's voice is low when he replies before he leans in to quickly peck her cheek, his beard trimmed shorter than it's been for a while now. (He'd debated shaving completely but he's started to appreciate the beard. It makes him feel a little more distinguished than he is without it.)
The dim light of the room offers them enough privacy from prying eyes, gives them a moment to breathe and to simply observe and bask in the company of all of their closest friends, people who have slowly become something like family in the months being here on this planet.
He squeezes her hand affectionately. ]

Well, it's happened. No more wasted time. ]
It feels like we're been married for so much longer, [ she murmurs once she draws away, ] doesn't it? Ever since that ceremony in Wyver. We've just made it more official on our own terms.

The Volkkran Pact, whatever it might have meant to the people here and the supposed magic that bonded Steve and Peggy, feels like the first time they really ... made whatever they'd been dancing around (heh) official. And sure, it wasn't a custom either of them were used to, but it felt like a marriage of a sort.
There were even vows involved. ]
On our own terms. [ He repeats, because that's exactly what this is. He nods again. ] Well, it's an important Earth custom none of us can soon forget.

[ Which makes them sound so much more ordinary than they truly are; but it also feels remarkably right. It's a glimpse of who they could have been in New York, maybe. But they were never cut out for that white picket fence life, not with the jobs they hold. The life they've built together here is as extraordinary as the one they shared before.
She looks out to the party passing them by, lips still curved in that soft smile, and she says after a stretch of silence: ]
Thank you. [ Peggy glances back at him, dark eyes to bright blue. ] For this. Everything, really. I never thought I could be so happy.

[ Steve's voice is soft, affectionate, when he brings her hand joined with his up to his lips and presses a kiss against her skin. ] We did all of this together, as partners.
And I'm the luckiest guy in the whole damned universe because I get to spend my life with you.
[ Cheesy, sure, but a good friend had recently advised him to just be his cheesy self when the moment called for it.
So here he is, indulging a little. ]

They have what they have and will have it for as long as they do. It's enough. He's enough. ]
I love you. [ Her smile quiets into something more achingly tender, private; meant for his eyes alone. The tip of her nose brushes his. ] Never want for knowing that, my darling.

Congratulations, Steve! [ she hugs him. ] The ceremony was lovely and you both look stunning. Best wedding I've been to since we arrived. [ also the only wedding, but whatever. ]

He appreciates your not hitting on him all day. He'll be proud, too, even. ]
Thanks, Cheryl. [ He smiles. ] And thank you for coming. It just wouldn't have been right if one of my own personal heroes wasn't here.
[ You know, all jokes aside, he really is pretty grateful for her helping to save him during a pretty vulnerable situation.

I wouldn't have missed it for the world. [ and that's the absolutely truth. ] What's next? A honeymoon?

[ The dreamily happy one, he means. ]

[ Steve grins, forgoing any polite taps and handshakes for a full-on hug and a back-pat for good measure. Sorry if you're hug-allergic, Jim, but this is happening. ]
But thank you. Really.

It was a lovely ceremony. [ Bucky tilts head like a kid about to go down a water slide. ]
I'd tell you to be happy, for once, butβ [ It's obvious that Steve already is. ]

glass exchanged for a full one, he moves to steve's side. ]
I believe congratulations are in order.
