[Closed] New Arrivals In Town
Who: Ysayle Dangoulain (
ysayle) & Lux Crownguard (
protectthelight)
What: Moving In Day! It's time to meet the room-mate.
When: 13th September
Where: Residential District, House 65
Warning(s): None!
Ysayle has never seen housing quite like this.
She was born and raised in a hamlet that did well enough for itself before the snows blew in. Has seen the inner workings of the Brume, packed in and poorer than the fine residents belonging to the High Houses. She has seen barracks and forts, and has slept alongside her fellow harriers in miserable, weathered buildings and farm houses. But Olympia's residential district is something else entirely, claustrophobic and climbing on top of itself, seemingly stacked precariously in order to pack in as many places as it can. People pass between arches and walkways with little concern for the state of the buildings around them, simply accepting all as a natural part of life.
Finding her new residence takes longer than expected, thanks to the warren nature of the buildings hereabouts, with 65 proving to be one of the higher set residences, overlooking several others. It doesn't have the clearest view of the rest of the city but there's still plenty to see and a relatively clear sky. Though the place appears undisturbed, Ysayle knocks anyway, and after a wait, shoves one shoulder against the front door, pushing it open and peering inside.
Ten or so minutes of poking and prodding later, with a few stops to marvel at the refridgeration unit and the alternating temperature taps for water (would that such things were common place for all back home..! ..Not that there is a 'home' anymore..), she tuts under her tongue at the state of things. It's by no means the worst place she's ever stayed in, but it certainly could use some cleaning in here. And airing. Hence why the front door is left open and Ysayle is presently trying to force open one of the more finicky windows she's just spent some time wiping down. If she could-- only-- get it--!

Focusing so much on the social aspects of having a housemate (or housemates?), that it takes her strolling through the residential district for a few moments to realize the state of the "homes" around her.
Homes being in very large air quotes, because one, her home isn't here (won't ever be here); and two, she's pretty sure that these don't exactly look homely. Or safe. Or legal.
But after the dread has had time to fully sink in (she's going to have to live in one of these places with a stranger), she finds the door clearly labeled 65, stands in front of the open door... and takes a deep breath.
Look, she has to mentally prepare herself, okay? This isn't exactly her idea of home sweet home. Even if the door is open, and this place is technically at least partially hers, she can't help but knock on the door frame. ]
Hello?
[ Tentatively peeking her head through the doorway before finally stepping over the dirty and dusty threshold, one boot then the other. Clearly she won't be taking those off anytime soon. Well, there goes any hope that this place was better on the inside, her shoulders slumping as she takes everything in.
Including the woman fighting with a particularly sticky window. ]
Oh! Here—
[ Yes, give her something to do! The much smaller teen rushing over, she tries to make her way in to help. Maybe with two pairs of hands..! ]

You..!
[ But she's receiving an offer of help, and there is little about the blonde midlander that sets her nerves on edge, so after a moment's consideration, Ysayle nods, and shifts a half-step to the right, making more room for the girl beside her. ]
Brace your arm like this so you do not harm. [to yourself, or the window.] On three then.

But the other woman is quick brush it aside, shifting over to give Lux room to help. Quickly moving to Ysayle's side, she braces as she is told, putting a foot back for extra leverage. She might not be the strongest person out there, but together they should be able to do this, right? She glances up at the Elezen from over her shoulder. ]
All right, I'm ready.

On three, then!
One!
[ She adjusts her pose, mindful that she won't accidentally elbow Lux in error as she moves closer to the window's frame. ]
Two!
[ The cloth is wrapped again about the small sticking handle, and grip is flexed before Ysayle gives a final nod. ]
Three!

On three, she tries to push it open, working to get what leverage she can. At first, there doesn't seem to be any movement, although—was that a whine? Like something attempting to move, but getting caught in years-old grime. It sounds like it wants to move. All right then!
Setting her jaw, she lets out an indignant groan as she puts all her weight into pushing the window upward. A whine gives way to a bit of a squeak as they push through the block, the window opening all at once. Teamwork! ]

And offering a smile that's much warmer than her previous address. ]
You have my thanks...Luxanna, is it? [So sayeth the tag, anyway. And her expression lightens as gaze flicks over the house number.] Ah! It would appear we are to be house mates.
I apologise for my brusque manner before, I'm afraid I was quite caught up in airing these spaces. It appears to have been a while since they were last occupied.

Her hands still rested on the windowsill, she looks up over her shoulder at Ysayle, blinking a few times in surprise. Wait, how did she know—oh right, that silly name tag, which would explain the full name treatment.
Standing upright again, she turns toward the Elezen, waving a hand in the air. ]
It's Lux, actually, and that's all right. I'm sorry for startling you. Ysayle, was it?
[ Putting her hands on her hips, she leans slightly one side, to look behind the taller woman. Ah... Yes, she sees what Ysayle means. Yikes. ]
I think you're right, this place looks like a home for dust bunnies, not for two ladies like ourselves!

It's not in the worst shape I've ever seen a place of residence. [she'd helped refurbish the cellar of an abandoned farm house for the purposes of making it a harrier base, for one] But with any luck, we can get it in a more liveable state in short order. The bedding at least is clean. [which rather suggests that someone changed them recently ahead of new arrivals, and did little else]
It looks like there are four rooms in total, though no one else has arrived as yet to claim one. You're welcome to whichever you like.
