[open] the misadventures of princess moron
Who: Yona (
cutefaced) & you! With some closed prompts for Mephisto (
meinwaifu), Hak (
bodyguarding), and Jae-Ha (
razzledazzles)
What: Yona meets some people and takes a dog for a walk. (Spoilers: the dog is a demon.)
When: Various times (with at least one prompt set before Jae-Ha's No Good Very Bad Day)
Where: Various locations
Warning(s): Nothing yet? I will edit if that changes.
open - olympia;
[Being allowed to wander around on her own is still taking some getting used to.
Yona doesn't live in a castle anymore, and she can come and go as she pleases - provided that Hak and Jae-Ha don't catch her getting up to mischief, anyway. There's something almost exhilarating about the freedom, but it leaves her a little anxious, too - what if she does get in over her head?
But she'll never figure anything out if she sits around at home all day, so into town she goes.
The theater and market districts are what catch her eye the most, and you might run into her examining jewelry and clothes at the market, or admiring the performers near the theater.]
Wow...
[Regardless of where you do find her, though, she's bright-eyed and excited. This is all so cool.
...but, uh, she's also a sitting duck for pickpockets, so maybe someone better stop her from making eyes at all the pretty clothes and pretty people before she winds up in some kind of trouble. Or, you know, tell her to stop staring at them, if they're the object of her attention at this time.]
open 2.0 - thesa station;
[Honestly, it was only a matter of time before she came back up here.
She's among the stasis pods again, seeking certain familiar people. She remembers seeing Soo-won asleep in one of these pods, so she knows he's safe here somewhere, but she'd feel a little better about things if she could see her father's face, too.
So as the hours tick by, she wanders the pods, carefully examining the people who are still asleep. It's not unlikely that she'll get distracted, though - you might find her gazing longingly at Soo-won's face if she stumbles upon his pod again, or find her looking curiously at an assortment of interesting-looking people that she doesn't seem to recognize, or even find her lingering someone you recognize (especially if your castmate is attractive, because she likes pretty faces).]
...they really saved a lot of people, didn't they...
[Maybe you'll even catch her mumbling to herself!]
closed to mephisto, hak, and jae-ha;
[So, back on Olympia. The weather's not too bad today, which is probably a good thing, because it's hard to walk a dog in the rain. And Yona sure has found a dog somewhere, and she sure has, uh, adopted it.
I'm so sorry to everyone involved in this.
Anyway, they're out for a walk, and she's debating heading to the market district to look for more ribbons to tie around his neck. This is what she's spending Hak's hard-earned silver on, isn't it...]
What do you think, boy? Do you like blue or green better? ...bark once for blue and twice for green!
[Can he even see color? She doesn't know.
Anyway, they're bound to run into someone she knows eventually, but for now she's just enjoying the nice day and occasionally crouching down to give Mephisto a pet or two because he's just too cute in this form (and also she doesn't know he's not a real dog).]

[I'm not even sure how we're going to do this reveal but we joked about ~breaking a curse~ so you know what? Here we go.
It's late, they've both tuckered themselves out wandering around, and now they're back at Yona's place. It's late and she's a little tired, but there's always time for snuggling with a dog, so she's petting him and -
She leans in and drops a kiss on top of his head!]
What a day, huh, boy?

[At that she gives a smile that can only be called a slight smirk. She's thoroughly confident in her abilities, it seems. She pauses though, curious.]
Do you know how to fight?
no subject
[Which is a good thing, as far as Yona's concerned. It means she's strong.]
...I don't. Father never let me near weapons.
no subject
Yeah, my father never liked me dealing with them either. And here I am, threatening pickpockets.
no subject
[Yona's father, being a king, was very easily able to keep weapons out of her reach; it's hard for her to imagine Mai getting her hands on them if her father didn't want her to.
But... different worlds.]
no subject
[Because that's a total normal way of relieving boredom...]
no subject
[Huh.
It's probably impertinent to ask, but Yona's going to do it anyway, because she's not used to caring about whether or not it's rude to request something.]
Could you teach me to do that, too?
no subject
It's all in the wrist. The hardest part is judging distance and how hard you should throw to hit a target. Once you get that down, you can get creative.
no subject
[She slowly raises her hand, then studies her wrist intently as she tries to go through the motions of flicking it like she might to throw a dagger.]
Like that, you mean?
no subject
You've got the idea. Keep it loose, learn how to go with the flow of a throw.
[Hmm. Mai turns her eyes around the area.]
If you're not busy, we could always practice.
no subject
[Weapon practice. Exciting. Yona's entire face lights up, because she has no idea how difficult this is actually going to be.]
no subject
She leads Yona to an out of the way spot not too far from where Mai herself lives, a park with a wooden wall appropriate for target practice.]
Personally I practiced on the walls of my bedroom but hey, any place works just as well. If you can put a knife in it anyhow.
[She'll start out simple enough - show Yona how to hold the knife and how to get used to the weight of it. Mai's knives are fairly light, perfectly fit for throwing.]
no subject
So this is what it's like to hold a weapon...]
I just... throw it at that wall?
[It's wood, so it's probably... fine...]
no subject
[Much like she did with Jin in Ba Sing Se, Mai lays her hand over Yona's own as she holds the knife.]
Like I said, it's all in the wrist. Once you get used to that, you can learn how much or how little force to put behind it, angles to throw it at and things like that.
[She guides Yona through a few test flicks of the knife, trying to show her what she means by it being all in the wrist. And then eventually she guides her through a throw, just to see where it lands.]
no subject
[Yona repeats the instructions to herself, going through the motions with Mai until she's actually guided through a throw.
...sadly, it doesn't make it to the wall. But it does make it about three-fourths of the way there, and the blade actually stays pointed the way it's supposed to the whole time, so it's really just a matter of getting the right amount of force applied.
She pouts anyway, and darts forward to go pick it up to try again.]
no subject
no subject
[But Yona can sort of imagine.
Anyway, once she has the knife, she'll go through the motions again before letting it fly - it hits the wall, but at an angle, and doesn't stick.
Progress!]
