[For as much as he had been trying to keep the truth about his leg a secret, it didn’t take Jae-Ha long to start regularly soaring through the skies. He’s doing it now, using occasional rooftops as points to bounce up higher again, eyes scanning the ground for anyone suspicious or outright wanted.

That includes, of course, any fugitives.

Anyone might catch him soaring and dropping out of the sky behind those on that list of wanted fugitives, or digging around until he finds particular associates and tries to corner them, as well. Maybe you’re just there as he drops down to look for an associate of the shady man, or maybe you see him corner one right in front of you. Or, maybe you’re a fugitive yourself, and you weren’t expecting a man with green hair to drop out of the sky and land behind you.]

[Especially with such a friendly greeting.]

[When he’s not actively chasing down leads, Jae-Ha can be found anywhere. Bars, the streets, flirting with women, shopping at the market… It’s easy to find his leads when surrounded by people, he finds. Today, he’s managed to rent an erhu (or something like it) and is performing a melancholy sounding song on the streets of Olympia.

He might look relaxed, eyes closing from time to time to feel the music, but whether people are donating to him to pay off this rental or not, he’s keeping his ears open for any information. If anyone lingers long enough, he’ll speak up, just wondering if he’s been caught or if the person just happens to be a fan.]

[He'll nod at the question, figuring he'd either manage something with his arms or just lift the shots off the table with his teeth. But even so, the little display has Mephisto chuckling, leaning over the table a little as he rests his hand on his chin, his own shots taken with little fanfare.]

Fufu, very good! But I'm not so sure beautiful is the word I would have used to describe it.

And why not? How else would you describe it?

[Why isn't he pretty?? Tell him he's pretty. He always wants to hear that, but now he's pushing for it, spinning the straw in his pretty little drink as he waits.]

Oh, fishing for compliments, are we?

Then how about you tell me something nice about me first? Surely that's a fair trade?

[Mission impossible tbh]

[Hm... Hmmmm... Jae-Ha seems to be deep in thought at that, and as he thinks, he slowly covers his mouth with a hand.

Should he say something like that? Should he decline it? Is this a deal, so can he ask for something more? He's thinking so hard he's making himself blush.]

...goodness, are you getting lost in your thoughts thinking about our little tryst on the beach? Careful, or you might just lead me to believe you only invited me out here for an encore!

[He's too buzzed to even care about getting riled up in a one on one conversation right now, so he just laughs.]

I'm searching for compliments. Let's see, if I tell you something nice about you, then I'd like to hear three things nice about me in return.

Three things, hmm? Very well, I accept!

[He's feeling the buzz himself, probably even more so than Jae-ha -- not that it'll be very easy to tell.]

Fufu, but stopping at only three... I could have complimented you all night if you had so desired it!

[His smile only thins a little at that.]

Now you're the one sounding as though you'd like an encore. How could I know something like that, hmm?

Well, let's see... For as much as you may be around Yona dear just to mess with me, I haven't seen you endanger her at all. If anything, it seems as though there's some concern. You have something of a kind heart, after all. Enough that it counts.

[...]

"A kind heart"?

[He sputters at first, trying to say something, but he can't-- he's laughing too much.]

[Like, disproportionately too much.]

[LIKE FALLING OUT OF HIS GODDAMN CHAIR TOO MUCH. He's gonna choke and die at this rate.]

Hey, hey...

[He's just going to watch, leaning a little to nudge at him with his foot. But that's it.]

Is this what I get for finding a compliment that isn't about your physical endowments?

[HOLD ON HE'S STILL LAUGHING flopped gracefully on his back with his legs kinda hanging on the chair instead.]

Hahahaaaa... ah, do forgive me! I've simply never received such a compliment before! Why, and here I'd nearly forgotten just how little you know about demons!

[Now he's gotta get up though.]

[Just.... give him a minute. Flops entirely onto the ground, still snickering. He had to grab the table to pull himself up, which might seem like it's just because he's old and injured (as far as Jae-ha knows) but once he's up... he... sways.]

[Despite not sounding drunk in the least when he speaks, he's actually pretty much wasted by now.]

Oh, what's this?

[Hold on, he catches that struggling movement, that swaying, and he leans over the table a bit himself. Still resting his chin on a palm, he's a little too low to the table to be sober himself, but he's not swaying. Not now, at least. He's just waving his free hand at Mephisto.]

Don't tell me you're already drunk? Can you keep your balance?

Oh, I don't have to!

[And with a poof, he's seated once more across from Jae-ha, upright and looking every bit as sober as he did before the laughing fit.]

[...why he didn't do that in the first place when he was still on the ground, well. He is drunk. Though it speaks for just how intuitive his powers are for him to be in complete control despite that.]

Hahah, but I suppose there's little sense in hiding it, yes? I'm afraid I don't get any additional tolerance for alcohol simply be being a demon. But I will sober up faster than you! My body treats alcohol like it would any poison -- and I can't be killed through such simple methods!

I haven't fallen out of my chair just yet, so we'll see who's recovering longer.

[Him. It will be him. But for now, he sits up and leans back again, chuckling.] Now, it's your turn. Three compliments. Or did you think I would forget?

Ah, yes, of course!

[Jae-ha r u ready for this. Because drunk or not, charming others with his words was basically what demons did. And whether it's for a silly little game or not, Mephisto isn't going to hold back.]

[And of course, the whole time he speaks, he's maintaining eye contact, his voice low and sultry, a certain gleam in his eyes as he leans up over the table.]

Now, let's see... of any man I've ever met, none have deserved to be called "beautiful" more than you have. Your hair is a charming, exotic color -- and the fine, silken texture speaks of a man who puts a great deal of time into taking care of it.

Truly, its only fault is that you use it to hide those pretty eyes of yours -- the color of which are as alluring as your hair. They're the sort of eyes one could get lost in, left only to wonder just what intentions lie behind them.

And that is certainly something you have me wondering. You are a very mysterious person. Though it may not seem like a compliment to you, I can't think of anything more desirable than a question seeking an answer -- and with you, it seems the more answers I get, the more questions I want to ask.

[Ah... He's always weak to compliments, but staring straight into Mephisto's eyes, trying not to react... it's even worse. His lips twitch like he wants to smile but he's stopping himself, but by the end he has to laugh, glancing down at the table. Stop... stop!!

He's going to slide his own drink closer and have some more.]

You really are trying for a repeat! I can't trust a demon like you at all, but if you keep saying such flattering things, you may get lucky, haha.

[Jae-Ha stop]

Oh really? Are you sure you're not the one who'd be getting lucky? Surely if I wanted a repeat, I'd already have you pressed up against the nearest wall, arms pinned above your head, watching you squirm as I tease and taunt you...

[Okay, maybe he is kinda going for a repeat. But can you blame him?? Still, he can't come off as too thirsty here, or he'll lose the upperhand. Best to redirect it back at Jae-ha! At the very least, this game might be more fun if he can get the other man sitting there frustrated.]

Ah, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Why don't we make it a deal?

You tell me what you want from me, and I'll see about making sure that happens.

[...which is actually a pretty open-ended offer, if Jae-ha thinks too hard about it. But Mephisto is sure however he decides to take it will at least be interesting.]

[Stop that, stop that, he know what he's doing there and it's absolutely working. Jae-Ha lets out a little huff like he doesn't really believe it, but his lips linger near his straw instead of taking any more sips now. He's trying to get his mind clear enough to consider that, but it's already too foggy.

What he wants?]

I wonder... [He's not understanding the ordering of that deal enough to throw it back at Mephisto, since he wouldn't know what to do with it anyway.] What I want... Any sort of thing, you mean? Unrelated included?

Oh my, have you seen through my carefully thought-out offer?

[In an almost mocking tone-- as if he didn't keep it intentionally vague to allow the game to continue a bit longer. But there was more to it than that -- even the second half allows a bit of wiggle room just in case he asks something he'd rather not do.]

But I suppose I can't very well take it back, can I? Yes, any sort of thing.

[Little did Mephisto know there's a sad Jae-Ha beneath all of the drunk, still concerned for Yona. He pauses messing with his drink long enough for this, staring a little more seriously between them.]

Could you put more effort into finding whatever might lead us to a cure for the illness spreading right now? Even my leg can't carry me far enough to be of enough help alone, right now. If you find anything after trying for more than money, I'd like to know. That's all.

[Oh, he knew it was there. He didn't think Jae-ha invited him out for drinks for his particular company, much as he's been joking otherwise.]

...if you think the only thing I've been doing is apprehending small-time criminals for a few bits of silver, you've sorely underestimated me. For all that my whimsical nature might lead you to assume otherwise, I can assure you, I've been taking this very seriously.

[He's no scientist, no. But he knew information networks, following rumors to their source, and utilizing whatever resources he could get his hands on. He even took up a position in the Institute knowing he'd have the chance to be closest to the source for if and when a cure is found.]

[This was personal for him for more than one reason--]

[That he's sick, that he underestimated him? Maybe both.] Then let me change that just slightly. Let's share whatever information we gather with one another. If we do that, we have a better chance, don't we?

With those little devices they gave us, it seems like we can send each other information in no time at all.

[Aside from a soft hm at the apology, he doesn't particularly acknowledge it. He hadn't mentioned it before for a reason, but as long as Jae-ha isn't asking any further, it shouldn't be an issue.]

Those terms sound agreeable enough to me. Ah, but does this mean you come from a world lacking in such technology? It's rather common back in my world.

[He reaches down to start digging out his phone... which is apparently taking more concentration than is should -- honestly, it's like only his body is drunk or something. But soon he pulls out a pink flip phone -- clearly different from the one given by the Natha, and with a rather ridiculous amount of colorful keychains attached to it.]

Shall we exchange contact information, then?

Ah? I have to do that?

[Everyone before has just texted him, but then... his username is Jae-Ha. And he probably showed them his phone thing... Which he is now pulling out of his robe.] How? Where's that? You're right, there's nothing like this where I'm from.
