October Catch-all
Who: Pike Trickfoot (
trickfoot) & you!
What: Catch all during the event. A few closed starters, otherwise open to all.
When: The month of October
Where: the Vox Machina house, and in the city proper.
Warning(s): she's going to put all of you in bubbles, so help Sarenrae.
Once Pike had found out about the illness, she kicked it into gear. She used what healing spells she had access to that first day to help out with minor injuries, giving balm and kind words to those who needed it.
Though it was back at home that she seemed to be needed the most.
She's willing to come out to anyone who needs her and heal most injuries, but none of her restorative spells are able to help ward off the effects of the disease, much to her disappointment. She's not used to her spells not working like this.
[Feel free to find Pike around the city, if you need help. She kind of stands out, with her gnomish stature and bright gold plate armor.]
[Vox Machina House]
With the new information that Percy was sick, Pike had pretty much decided that the house was under quarantine. She wasn't sure how the disease spread yet, so it was a blanket order for the entire house to be careful around each other and to try and not get any one else sick.
So much for that, right?

around the city
Forgive me, milady. [ He says, tacking the last word on when he notices her armor. ] I'm afraid it's very like me to miss what's right in front of me.

[She's quick to try and catch him so he doesn't fall, but being short and all doesn't give her too much room to help. What she does catch, however, is the grimace on his face.]
Don't worry, it's fine. Why... why don't you sit down over here. You don't look too good.
no subject
Alright. I'm in your hands.
[ Nash does a pretty good job of not letting his discomfort show, and not letting his eyes drift backwards, whence he came. At the least, he thinks, Pike is observant. ]
no subject
Did you get hurt back there? Were you alone?
no subject
Would you believe I tripped over the paving stones?
[ It's a dishonest question, asked honestly: he wonders if she will. Nash doesn't really want to talk about it, not without knowing more about Pike, and how she reacts to things. ]
I think I twisted my ankle.
[ The unvarnished truth. ]

Vox Machina house
Right now, he's doing what little he can to help those trying to cure the sickness inbetween his search for the perpetrators. Which brings him here to Vox Machina's house. Outside, he holds a small box under his arm as he stands in front of the door. With three loud knocks he calls to anyone who may actually be inside the place "Hello? Keyleth? Vex? Anyone who isn't currently sick? It's Sen. I came by to drop some things off if you're here."
no subject
It's another few moments before the door opens, Pike slipping outside and closing the door behind her. "Sen! Hello!" She gives him a smile. "I'd invite you in but, well... I'm keeping them from spreading the plague to everyone they see, really." There's a humor to her tone, but she really means it.
no subject
Which he well than place into her hands gingerly. "It's not much but it's some herbs I was told that can help with a fever. Hopefully, it'll help alleviate some of your friends pain."
no subject
The relief in her eyes is obvious. With her magic not working, Pike's had to rely on old-fashioned ways to keep her friends from getting any sicker. Practices she hasn't had to use in a while and is a bit rusty on. "This helps more than you can even know."
She holds the package to her chest tightly, but not tight enough to crush the contents. "You're holding up okay? You haven't been showing any symptoms?"
no subject
Though he should've expected that question. He looks thoughtful for a moment, raising a hand to his head to feel his forehead. He didn't seem to have any sort of fever nor a tickle in his throat. "I'm fine from what I can tell. Though I was working with Percy to find the culprits, but he failed to mention he had gotten infected." And there's a smile there before he says; "Do me a favour. When he's up and about can you give him a good hard punch in the arm for me? Or just throw some water in his face."
He's mostly kidding.
Mostly.

For Prior
Remembering that Prior had mentioned the movies to her, she had made sure to call and ask if he had any free time for some company. With an affirmative response, Pike makes her way over to Prior's house and knocks on the door.
no subject
....Though he is afraid of that. Just before the storm in his own world, two friends had been taken by his disease. Both as young as him, down like dominos. Bird TB and the flu. What kind of an end is the flu?
He can't stay indoors like a pariah - he won't - but there's a quickening to his pulse that reminds him you could catch something all the time. And then there's how hard everyone's working to find a cure. The whole city seems to be on it - hunting, mixing, praying. And here he is, biting his lip to hide the flinch as he puts weight on his bad leg after heading out with Pike.]
I have no idea what's playing, I'm afraid. We'll have to take pot luck. Though the way mine's running lately it will be something dimly lit and unintelligible in German. Still, anything must constitute a break from the plague pits?
no subject
Definitely! Though honestly, I'm good with any kind. It's my first one, after all. [A pause.] Does it being dimly lit and in a different language mean it's bad?
no subject
Bad: often, pornographic: occasionally. If you're lucky, one of those cancels the other out - when I was an impressionable boy of fourteen I practically taught myself french while seeking out the latter.
[He swats a hand in the air, dismissing it.]
They're not the most fun though, and with the way things are I think fun would be a tonic, don't you?
no subject
We definitely need some fun. It's been really dismal around here. We need something definitely lighthearted. Right?

after vex is sick! c:
Percy was caught in the initial blast. That much they knew. That blast was somehow connected to the illness he'd come down with - the fever, the chills, the hallucinations. Vax had been scanning for rumors around that time, trying to find something to do with them. Trying to understand what was even going on. Because in a city they were promised would be safe, a place they'd thought they'd come to to escape this kind of chaos, an explosion and subsequent sickness was a little suspicious.
But then Vex came down with it, and everything vax had been thinking was multiplied tenfold.
For a good day or so, he stuck around the house- taking care of her, trying to ease the panic behind her eyes at whatever it was she was seeing, helping Pike in whatever way he could actually be useful and not in the way. But even then, he still felt useless, still felt his attention drifting, and after a particularly restless night and finally getting Vex to calm herself enough for a bit, Vax finds himself stepping out to find the cleric.
"Hey, Pike?" Was she still in the kitchen? He was worried about raising his voice, what with Percy and now Vex dealing with whatever this was, but he wasn't sure where to start looking for Pike... "Pike?"
c:
"I'm here!" She doesn't raise her voice too loud, only loud enough for him to hear over the rushing water.
no subject
Which is half of why he's here, now. He's seen how much Pike has been working at taking care of their two patients, and he feels bad for not being of more help.
"How're you holding up?" The smile he gives her is a little hesitant - that guilt heavier than he really meant it to be, but so is the way with Vax - everything, always, hovering out on his sleeve.
no subject
Such is Pike's way; she may look tired and rough, but she will always give her friends a smile and tell them that she's fine. But she is definitely tired, having foregone a lot of sleep to make sure that Vex and Percy were comfortable. It reminds her of a time Vex had pulled her aside and told her that she didn't need to be strong for everyone. But she did, and these kinds of times were the reason why.
"How are you? You're not getting sick, are you?"
no subject
"Just make sure to take care of yourself too, you know? Can't have the doctor falling sick."
He leans against the door frame, crossing his arms over his chest. It's been a process, getting used to moving around without armor again, but he's getting better at it. It's becoming more normal.
Vax shakes his head. "No, I'm fine. Thankfully. I'd hate to give you more work." Another sheepish smile, before it dissolves into a sigh. "But I do need to...ask you something."

At Home :(
But the deep seated cough shook her lungs and she'd turned sallow enough in colour that both Sen and Vax had called her on it, the latter dragging her reluctant ass home and away from their city-wide hunt, ordering her into bed before
tattling tocalling upon Pike. That had been two days ago, and now, on the third night of confirmed sickness, sleep evades and the cough lingers. Pulling the thin blanket about her (Vex is unwilling to use the elvenkind cloak for extra warmth), there's a sullen shuffle of feet as the half-elf peeks into the kitchen. Some tea seems like a good idea right about now..
:(
Pike motions to a chair that's not too fair from the one she's standing on, putting away things she had used earlier on in the day. She's been pretty insistent that Vex and Percy stay in bed for the sole reason that rest always helped, no matter what the reason wrong was. It wasn't often that any of them got sick, much less with something that wasn't easily curable by Keyleth's herbs or her own magic.
"What do you need? I can get it for you."
no subject
Vex winces when Pike calls out to her. To be fair, she hadn't even tried to be stealthy, it hadn't occurred to her to, but she had hoped not to be noticed quite so soon. Fat chance of that, given the cough that seizes her throat and has her concealing it in the thin blanket about her shoulders.
"All right," she croaks, trying her best not to sound too grumpy - Pike doesn't deserve it after all, and her friend is doing her best to help. That doesn't mean she won't complain, however: "Why isn't Vax sick too? We're twins, right? So we should have the same immune system where these things are concerned."
It's just not fair. >:/
no subject
She knows it wasn't gallivanting, it was to help search for who did this, but she can't help but rib at her. She's trying to lighten the mood. She hops off the chair she was on, heading over to her friend and helping her into a seat.
She's gentle when she reaches up to check Vex's fever. Still present, which she suspected. "I bet he wishes he were sick instead of you, though."
no subject
Then a faint flush of colour that is definitely absolutely only due to fever. "It wasn't gallivanting," her tone is as as she can muster, given the croak in her voice, and she settles in her chair with a sneeze. "It was 'keep an eye on Percy so he doesn't overdo it while he's sick' watch. And then I got sick. Which sucks."
"And it must suck for you, having to take care of us. I'm sorry, Pike. I definitely owe you one." Her mouth twists as she leans over a bit, making it easier for Pike to check her temperature. "He probably does. Hopefully I won't be sick too long, so he doesn't have to worry too much." Vax always worries about everyone else, and rarely spares himself a thought.
