-=while this is not what he'd grown accustomed to back home, it's been a long time since he's even been there and he's certainly stayed in far worse conditions than this.

cadderly, on the other hand, does not know what a fridge is, or any of the other appliances in the kitchen that he's staring at in complete baffled wonderment. he finally blinks back to himself when the other man speaks=-

Huh? Oh.. I know not, though I doubt we would be sent here and be expected to resort to villainy for survival.

-=his hobbies of learning, reading, and writing hardly seem to suggest he would be any good at either of those things=-

Though I do imagine we are expected to become part of the society here.

I feel like there's a middle ground in there somewhere. Like a job?

[ Buffy's squinting at the accommodations. It's not much better or worse than her place in LA was. Just different. And just something she didn't choose. She's wearing her name badge still — Hello, my name is Buffy! My hobbies are slaying, shopping, and eating! What are yours?, but she does put some effort into fraying the edges now that she's home.

She'd kind of been hoping the guard was wrong.

I saw some ads on the bulletin boards.

-=yes, that does indeed sounds far more reasonable=-

I do hope there can be some use for a scribe in a world such as this.

-=though with all of this 'technology' he's doubting a scribe works with their hands anymore=-

I came from somewhere quite different. I know not what I can offer.

A ... scribe? [ her nose scrunches — half confusion, half preparing to disappoint him. ] Isn't that just when you write down what other people say? I mean, I guess someone's bound to need a secretary, but ...

-=its very clear this particular roomate is very tired, but he still manages to look entirely enchanted by the little home and it's meager appliances. The cold box in the kitchen area is fascinating and regards the toilet in complete bafflement, actually jumping back when he dared press the lever.

the look of his tunic and breeches place him out of time a couple centuries, which may account for his abject confusion, though he at least doesn't seem to think anything here is out to kill him=-

Oh my dear Deneir...

-=the toilet is flushing! and cadderly is watching the water swirl around, eyes growing wide as he realizes what it's actually for=-

D-Deneir.

-=he says, finally pulling his eyes away from the strange but seemingly life altering device, giving the other man an awkward smile=-

The name of my god.

-=for all his way with the written word, cadderly can indeed get choked and studdery when he's frazzled=-

No! -=he says with a laugh=- Nothing like it I am afraid. It is ingenious I must say.

[ From day one she hasn't seemed all that interested in staying within the small quarters. There's a number of reasons for it-- some more embarrassing than the more serious others. But she feels the need to keep moving and at best the only time she can be found is late at night. At best.

In general she avoids being home if she can help it, though not entirely intentionally. She's picked up many small odd jobs and her desire to have a place of her own-- not this-- drives her.

But sometimes she is there when others are (and awake, to boot) and today is one of those times. At least she's sitting at the kitchen table, frowning at the device before her. ]
Does no one here know how to filter what they say?

[It's. a rhetorical question, sort of. Someone is just flabberghasted at what goees to being acceptable to say on a public forum. One does not understand the internet at all.]
