I can't wait to get on the road again
Who: Genjo Sanzo (
smithandwesson), Soldier 76 (
personalwar), Yusei Fudo (
planetary_bonds), Giovanni Rammsteiner (
ofobedience), & Open!
What: A pair of wanted fugitives escape Olympia captivity and attempt to integrate and blend in with Wyver society.
When: October 19th onward
Where: The Undergrowth & Wyver: The Old City
Warning(s): Nothing to note!
[Sanzo had never been one to handle forced captivity well. It wasn’t his first time of course, but the moments in which he had been stuck under Olympian Watch was perhaps the longest he had lasted before making his move (a whole ten days, wow). So it was without hesitation that he started thinking of ways to get out the moment the cities evacuation to Wyver was mentioned throughout the prison.
Escape was simple enough. He had met up with someone who had been in the exact same fucking situation he had been in, and finding an opening when the guards weren’t fixated on watching them was surprisingly simple. Getting into other caravans and finding their weapons was a bit more tedious of an endeavor but they had eventually managed to find what they needed and soon enough were able to get out and lose themselves once more amongst a countries worth of people as they were forcefully placed into a new land.
He was wearing his cloak again. Once again shrouding his appearance as much as he could as he wandered about. Between gathering food and supplies within the Undergrowth like many of the other Olympian refugees, to lurking around the less crowded markets of the Old City, Sanzo was working his hardest to gather his bearings and once again survive. He had no home now, and what little money he had gotten he had stolen from the guards before his escape. It was almost nostalgic, as if he were once again the brat he was so many years ago, with no where to go and no lead to follow. He was once again wandering aimlessly like a street vagabond, a shadow of the high priest people once thought him to be before he ended up here.]
(OOC: Sanzo is once again on the run and this time trying to escape from Olympia’s manhunt for him for good. He can be found inconspicuously running from place to place but if looked at close enough one can make the distinction between him and the wanted posters that were once all around Olympia. He also currently has a temporary camp set up with Soldier 76 while they attempt to settle into Wyver. Otherwise he can be seen hunting for food, purchasing cheep goods from some of the shadier shops and panhandling for money along the streets.)

They haven't been harmed, to be fair, but being made to walk on foot for long distances while chained up (somehow, the restraints they have here have been difficult for him to break through) or crammed into cages too small for them isn't much better. 76 isn't too shaken by any of it; they'd have to do a lot worse than this to unnerve him. That doesn't mean he's happy about it, and it looks like his fellow prisoner feels the same way.
He doesn't know the guy, but since both of them have been locked up, he's been seeing plenty of him over the past few days. Normally they were kept far enough apart from each other that having a conversation was impossible, but here's their chance. ]
You think there's room for that?
[ They're in Wyver territory now, the sticky heat only making their conditions that much worse. 76 watches as the guards assigned to them move away to start unpacking supplies from the carriages, now that they've arrived.
76 twists his body to look at the other prisoner. Genjo Sanzo, right? ]
This is our chance. Let's try and get out of here.
Bleh. Sorry for the late reply. Work = accidental 2 week hiatus x_x
He had noticed how much more lax the guards had become as their journey continued, but at this point they were outright lazy. It was kind of hilarious actually, what with how much effort the entire city put in to initially catch him. And weren’t they in Wyver territory? He still was only learning the cultures of this new world, but from what he researched weren’t the two countries in the midst of a turbulent relationship? What a time to let down your guard.]
So what? We just going to bust out of this cell then cross our fingers and pray?
[His voice was a whisper, his eyes remaining fixed on the area around their cell.]
Not like we currently have anything to protect ourselves with. Not unless we sneak into the weapons cargo a few carts back.
[Also there was the fact that they were temporarily chained up to one another.
This should be interesting.]
no worries!!
Besides, he's capable of fighting even without access to his weapons, so he isn't going to let that deter him. ]
We get to the weapon cart if we can, sure. If not, we can always try to sneak away while they're busy. Plenty of cover here.
[ They're in a jungle area, plus there's all the carriages that came in from Olympia. With all the places they can hide, he figures this is the best shot they're going to get to slip away. ]
no subject
[Sanzo responded to the hesitance with a sense of certainty. His voice gruff but determined as he shifted slightly.]
And if we don’t want to run through the fucking forest stuck to one another I suggest we try to find wherever they’re keeping the keys. Sneaking off without doing anything would be easy, but a distraction should get us everything we need.
[With that he watched as the guard who had been patrolling near their cart wandered off, his body tensing slightly.]
You ready?
no subject
But all right, they'll get this guy his weapon, assuming they'll even be able to find it. 76's gear had all been ditched long ago, and he can only hope that a certain friend of his kept them safe. ]
Gonna need you to work with me here.
[ He reaches out for the bars of the cage, assuming that Sanzo will move with him and allow him to take hold. Once that's possible, he begins to yank the bars away from each other, face pinching with strain as he puts all of his strength into the effort.
Eventually, the bars begin to budge. Now he just has to keep it up until the opening is large enough for them to get through. ]
no subject
Trying to get out of being locked up was a good incentive.
So as Soldier 76 made his was to the front bars of their mobile prison Sanzo did his best to keep up despite his slightly smaller frame. Balancing himself and keeping light on his feet as he followed the others movements.]
So I take it you've done this before.
[It was a mocking comment, but looking over his shoulder only to see his prison mate literally break and bend the bars that were keeping them contained left Sanzo feeling, truthfully, quite impressed. He had only known one other person capable of that before now after all.]
Why do I feel like even if someone did catch us right now they'd probably just end up running off and pissing themselves in fear?
no subject
He doesn't answer Sanzo either way, letting him form his own assumptions for now. 76 is more focused on getting them out of here as soon as possible. ]
I'd take that too. [ Someone running off and pissing themselves, that is. 76 isn't so sure that would happen, as there are plenty of people on this planet who can do extraordinary things, but he seems to have made an impact on Sanzo, at least.
Finally the opening is large enough for him to turn sideways and slip through, tugging Sanzo along with him. When his feet hit solid dirt ground, he heaves out a breath. It's just a whiff so far, but freedom smells sweet. ]
no subject
Oy. Careful.
[Truthfully it felt strange. He was not used to being the one treated like a damsel. He was just a human sure, but with all he had gone through simply being dragged around and protected until their bindings were cut loose unsettled him.
Maybe it was simply because of how much he knew he was relying on Soldier 76 right now.
None the less the fresh air did feel nice. Although his alert was still too on edge to appreciate it for long.]
No one may be in eyeshot but this place is crawling with guards. Our best bet in finding our weapons is by taking one of the loners and getting answers from him.
[And yet just as he whispered that a sudden crack could be heard, the subtle yet heavy footsteps of approaching guards.]
We better move.
no subject
He doesn't have a problem with cornering one of the guards for interrogation, but he'd like to get himself separated from Sanzo first. Unfortunately, there isn't time for that. Someone's definitely coming, his hearing picks up on the sound of boot soles pressing into soft soil.
Yeah, they'd better move.
76 starts for the closest grouping of trees, pulling Sanzo along with him until they can duck behind one. Thankfully the trunk is thick enough that it should hide them from view.
He glances to Sanzo and speaks in a lower whisper. ] Once his back is turned, we can sneak up and grab him.
no subject
Or at least he thought he could tolerate it until he found his body near sandwiched between the heavy musky frame of a geriatric cyborg-looking man and the rough scratchy bark exterior of Grandmother Willow.]
Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.
[His whisper was gruff and strained as he shifted uncomfortably. Trying to shift his arms in attempt to be a little more comfortable.]
I'm just amazed the asshole didn't immediately notice the broken down cell you left behind. Although here's hoping he turns his back before he notices anything out of place.
Is there a pebble or anything similar near us?
no subject
At least this guard doesn't have thermal sensors. Then they'd be screwed.
Sanzo has a point, though. If the guard lingers around this area for too long, he's going to notice that something is off, and so a distraction is their best bet. 76 finds a rock nestled in the grass near them and grabs it with his free hand, chucking it at a tree further away. As planned, the noise alerts the guard and he turns to investigate.
At that point, all it takes is waiting for the right window of opportunity. When 76 sees his chance, he nods to Sanzo to let him know he's planning to move, and then darts out from behind the tree and toward the guard to yank him into a one-armed chokehold.
When the man starts to flail and make noise, 76 applies pressure to his windpipe to shut him up. ]
Just gonna make sure he passes out.
[ In case Sanzo begins to worry that he's actually planning to suffocate the guy. ]
no subject
[If anything it was fairly satisfying, not having to do much. Sanzo was, at heart, a fairly lazy human being. So having a method in which he could advance without exerting himself too much was proving towards his advantage.
Did this guy think he would be worried if the guard was going to be seriously hurt? How funny.]
Get it over with quick though. And check to see it the asshole has any keys or weaponry we can use.
Money and communication devices of some sort would help us out as well. But anything to get us out of these goddamn restraints would be optimal.
no subject
After depriving the man of oxygen for long enough, he passes out, slumping out of 76's grasp. 76 immediately crouches down to search his body one-handed, letting out a sigh of relief when he finds a ring of keys clipped to his waist. He hands them back to Sanzo for safekeeping, then stands, figuring they don't have much more time to search him. ]
Let's just get to the wagon with the confiscated weapons in them. Then we can get out of here and I can break these restraints.
[ Given that he'd been able to bend the bars of their cage, he doesn't think these cuffs will present much of a problem once he has a few spare minutes to work on them. ]
no subject
[Truthfully Sanzo was beginning to not mind the free ride all that much, as strange as it was. It at least made the entire scenario quite a bit more relaxing. So instead he looked around, seeming to hesitate for a moment.]
We're best off sneaking along the sides by the trees if we want to prevent being seen. As for what caravan could be holding our shit, probably something moderately guarded. If not our stuff it would probably be holding other prisoners. It's a bit of a guessing game, but it's a safer approach.
Or we could just be daring fuckers, find another one of these guards and interrogate the idiot.
[Shrug.]
no subject
An interrogation would probably go faster than guessing at which wagon was the one they wanted, but also riskier. ]
Let's try and find the wagon first. If it's guarded, we can always do the interrogation then.
[ As far as approach goes, 76 has no problem with the route that Sanzo suggested, so he leads them in that direction, crouch-walking once they hit the line of trees. He peers in between the trunks at the wagons that they pass, hoping that years of experience and instinct will make it obvious which one is holding the confiscated weapons. ]
no subject
... So what do you think? It's probably one of those.
[Your call bub.]
no subject
76 closes his eyes for a moment. His hearing isn't good enough to pick out whether or not there's sounds coming from the various wagons, though. Just guessing will be too great of a risk; they need to be sure. ]
Let's ambush the one guarding the first wagon. We can ask him what's being held in all of them, and go from there.
[ He glances over to Sanzo and nods. Whenever you're ready. ]
no subject
Mph. Best idea I've heard all day.
[And, truthfully, he was pleasantly surprised in leaving the decision up to the big guy. Probably once of the most competent people he's ever collaborated with, that's for sure.
The guard himself seemed fairly lax as well, leaning against the door of the cabin and minding his business. He even seemed to yawn out. Perhaps this whole migration was moving along uneventfully despite going into enemy territory.
Well, they'd change that up soon enough at least.]
no subject
Or it will if this all goes off without a hitch and he doesn't have Sanzo painting him as the only one in the wrong, if they're caught.
The guard they've targeted is almost making this too easy. 76 leads them out from behind the trees to the front of the wagon, his cuffed arm held slightly behind him so that there's nothing too suspicious at first.
By the time that the guard glances up and realizes who they are, 76 is close enough to lunge forward and clamp his free hand around the man's mouth. At first the guard struggles and makes muffled noise, but 76 applies more pressure, forcing the man to lean back against the wagon's rear. ]
You're gonna tell us what's in this wagon you're guarding, and in the two behind you, and I won't break your neck. [ His tone is steely and rough, but quiet so as to not be heard by the other guards nearby. ] Got it?
no subject
Thankfully though, Soldier 79 wouldn't have to deal with the blond monks natural bullheadedness as so far the older man seemed to everything just as Sanzo himself would have done.
Hell, he couldn't help but
admireappreciate the sheer coldhearted brute force that Soldier 76 gave with with his interrogation.]Ggkktt!
[The guard, on the other hand, seemed to be shitting himself with what had been going on. After all, was all this really worth facing off against two of the escaped convicts by himself? Especially a guy like this!?]
W-weapons and storage with the guard here... Next one over is food and medical supply... Last is one of the nobles caravans... Seriously my pay ain't high enough for me neck to be on the line.
[The poor pitiable fool.]
no subject
He shoves the man aside, taking a few seconds to make sure that he isn't going to yell for help or make a run for it. It's the cart in front of them that they're looking for, and so he tugs Sanzo to climb inside with him.
There's a stack of crates that takes up most of the room inside; at least one of them will have to hold all of the confiscated weapons. Time to get searching. ]
My stuff isn't gonna be here. I hid it before I got captured.
[ All of it left with Ana for safe-keeping. Still, he's enough of a weapon on his own that he isn't worried. ]
Find your gear. Quick.
no subject
[Knowing that Olympia had a pretty good idea as to where he was living due to his place of work, Sanzo didn't trust leaving his stuff anywhere or with anyone. Go figure that carrying all of his most important artifacts on his person would end up being his downfall.]
My shits on the smaller side so it's probably going to be in one of these crates. Up for putting those meaty arms of yours to use once more big guy?
[As tough as Sanzo liked to think he was, muscle to break wooden boxes he had not.]
Unless you see a crowbar or something like that around here...
[For the time being though he's just going to casually rummage around all the other stuff. Perhaps some of this gear could come to use with hunting and gathering food as they made their way away from here...]
no subject
Once he gets his hands on a phone again, anyway. ]
All right.
[ Breaking open some wooden boxes is nothing for him, and all it takes is a little bit of elbow grease to pry the lids off. He unstacks them to set the crates down on the little bit of floor space that the wagon has, nodding to Sanzo to start his search.
It's frustrating, the way that they're tugging each other around with the cuffs as they move in the small space, but hopefully that'll be over soon. ]
no subject
Let Sanzo find out in due-time what a true "big-guy" is like.None the less, Sanzo lets out a small grunt of approval as he watches 76 breaks open the crates. Immediately slipping past to rummage around as he saw fit through the various supplies.
It took a bit, of course. They were far from the only prisoners being transported. And it seemed it wasn't only the prisoners but quite a bit of the guard's supplies and armory involved as well. But, after his fifth crate in, he paused. His rummaging stopping.]
Ah.
no subject
Finally, Sanzo seems to hit the jackpot. There's a whole crate full of things, so 76 can't be sure what's caught Sanzo's attention, and right now he doesn't particularly care.
When he speaks up, it's with a snarl. ] Grab it and let's go.
