Save a horse, Ride a Cowboy
Who: Senren Lavellan (
heraldsdawn) & Jesse McCree (
good_bamf_ugly)
What: Meeting the Boy cow at the stables
When: It's Hiiiiiiigh Mid afternoon
Where: The Stables
Warning(s): none currently
[He'd been doing his own walk arounds of this place. He's still getting familiar with this strange new land and it wouldn't do if he was serious on setting up a second Inquisition if he didn't know where to go. His walkabouts took him to many places in the city, from armouries to tailors. But the final place he came across is the stables.
Ah yes. He remembers they had a lot of trouble securing horses back home. That a horse master was needed. Maybe it'd be a good idea to look into one now. As he's walking over to enter the barn building he all but stops when he see's a very recognizable human off by the horse pen.
Wasn't that...?]
McCree, right? [ He speaks as he approaches the taller human. He definitely feels dwarfed next to him but he's not about to let that bother him now.]
What are you doing here?

What are you doing here?

...well, the stables made for an easy distraction. He's in no rush to settle in, so it suits him fine. These certainly weren't wild horses but the other animals present varied from familiar to fantastical. Fits right in with Lavellan's elf ears in his opinion.]
Howdy.
[He raises a hand in greeting, pleased to see a familiar face. He's in a good mood on top of it, and even the wide brim of his hat can't hide the easy-going smile on his face. As to the question he simply finishes petting the muzzle of one of the brown horses he was getting acquainted with.]
Makin' friends.
[He'd make friends all day here if left alone.]
no subject
I see. They're no Halla or a Hart but they're friendly enough. Isn't that right? [ The last part is more towards the horse than McCree as he scritches it behind the ears. The horse just seems to shake it's mane at that and he just gives a pleasant smile to it. ]
It would be nice to go riding one of these days. [ Definitely nice. Though that smile curls a bit more before he looks over to McCree. ]
I don't suppose anyone would notice if we just borrowed some horses for a few hours, right? [ He may be kidding. Maybe. ]
no subject
That said, no, he's almost positive no one would notice if they were quick about it. He's not even sure if Lavellan is kidding.]
I'd wager we'd have to find you a donkey or foal first.
no subject
Did you just make a joke about my height? Low blow, my friend. I can ride a full grown horse like any tall man.
Maybe even better.
[ In which he'll poke his finger into McCree's chest.]
Probably better than you I'd think. [ It sounds jovial but he's definitely offering up a bit of a challenge here.]
no subject
[That earns Lavellan a slap on the shoulder. McCree's laughing but the sing-songy tone in his voice is entirely teasing. It was all but too easy with his phrasing.]
I think I might need to see that with my own eyes.
no subject
[ He smirks at that as he moves over to the gate of the pen and he'll just open it and step on inside to a horse. He looks it over, petting it's nose before leading it over to the reins and beginning to saddle it up. There a look he gives to McCree tilting his head inquiringly. ]
Well, are you going to join me or what?
no subject
You sure you don't need a boost up?
no subject
[ But, he says it with a smile. Contrary to belief, smaller gentlemen can pull themselves up onto horses which he does. He rides a brown horse, thinking it's probably the less conspicuous to ride around. Saddled up and ready to go, he holds the reins and steers the horse out of the stable.
He looks back to McCree and grins and points towards two trees far off in the distance. ]
I'll race you there if you're not afraid of a challenge from a small elf man.
no subject
[And like a true gentleman, McCree doesn't give any warning or countdown--he just barks out a loud HEE-YAA! and cracks the reigns. His horse rears up dramatically and breaks off into a sprint. Seems he's fine not playing fair and laughing about it the whole way.]
no subject
[ He yells after, now kicking his horse in the sides to make it race after. Cracking the reins he lets out a few loud; ] YAW! YAW!
[ the horse chases after McCree's and it takes it a few moments for Lavellan to even begin to get close behind the other. They aren't neck and neck yet, but they were beginning to get closer to their finish line. There's a look of determination as he looks at McCree's back as he cracks the reins harder to make his horse go. ]
no subject
Once he passes the tree he lets his horse slow down naturally into a gallop and then easy trot. The horse exhales through its nostrils like that was either a nuisance or not enough. McCree grins but he knows that wasn't entirely fair. And to Lavellan's credit, he trailed behind only by a little bit. He can tell he's got what it takes. It was just a warm up!]
So you can ride. Not bad. Wanna' have a rematch?
[A fair one.]
no subject
Hm, I'm not sure you're not going to take off on me again, are you?
[ And he has the horse saunter up next to McCree's horse as he looks up to him with a look of cocky determination. ]
Because we both know I could take you in a fair race.
no subject
But I'll behave since you asked so nice.
[He'll stick to his word because this sure as heck was fun and he thinks he'll enjoy having another go at the other man.]
This tree to the fence.
Ready?
no subject
[ It's definitely appreciated. The wink earns a half grin but he's definitely not going to lose this time.
With the rules set out for the race he looks to McCree. On the ready he nods and says; ]
Ready...Set...go!
[ And he takes off. ]
no subject
The hat is very important, as Lavellan already knows.]
no subject
His horse responds in kind and it charges a good ten feet past the finish. He rears the horse in and turns giving the man a smirk across his lips. ]
Well, I'd say that's all tied up.
