Where: Mainly in and around Olympia; some visits to Wyver, too.

olympia proper;

one - getting reacquainted;
[Before taking ill, Yona had spent much of her time in the market district - mainly because she's always been easily distracted by interesting things. As a result, she hadn't been completely familiar with other parts of the city before then, though she did make a few forays into the theater district.

No more. Now that she's back, she has every intention of learning her way around the city she and her friens have returned to.

Her wandering takes her almost everywhere - and as a result, she ends up hopelessly, uselessly lost. Maybe you'll catch her looking at her surroundings with a puzzled expression.]

...wait, was I supposed to turn right at the last street, or the next one?

[Help.]

two - weapons galore;
[You must never touch weapons, Yona.

Her father's words are fresh in her mind as she stands outside the weapons shop. Of course - she's already disobeyed him once, when practicing throwing daggers. But she can only keep "borrowing" from Jae-Ha and sneaking them back to him for so long, and they're his weapons, in the end; she needs to find something that suits her.

Sooner or later, she was always going to have to look out for herself.

So in she goes, although she nearly immediately looks a bit overwhelmed at all the different choices. Oh boy.]

There's so many of them...

three - order up;
[She can't just rely on other people to buy her things forever (although to be truthful, it's worked for her so far).

So, not long after they return to Olympia, Yona starts looking for work. Her problem is there aren't a lot of things she already knows how to do well - but part-time work serving food at a cafe seems simple enough, and she's managed to get a job as a waitress at the Wyvernest, which suits her just fine. One of the most interesting things about Wyver was the dragons, after all.

Now she's sort of got the best of both worlds - she can see the baby dragons while she's working, and can learn about them as she does. (The owner doesn't rebuff her when she asks for employment as some others have, but maybe that's because they remember she wore a Wyver pin at the gala. Maybe they think she knows more about dragons than she actually does.)

But at the moment? It's time to serve some customers! Yona looks up when she hears the door open and fixes the person who's just entered with a smile.]

Welcome to the Wyvernest! How many would you like a table for today?

the outskirts;

one - neutrality problems;
[The first time she borrows a mount to go exploring, she runs into some of the people who have left the city.

...up until that moment, she hadn't realized just how bad things had gotten. Sure, there were people who were vocal about wanting to keep themselves separate from the people of Wyver, and people who were talking about fighting with them... but she'd believed it was just talk. After all, when she'd gotten sick, the medicine that had cured her had only existed because they'd cooperated with them.

But, no. Apparently it is that bad. And when she hears that people on both sides have been refused help from the Sanctuary and the Altar of Volkkra...

Well, she can't take it. She really can't take it.

So, from time to time, she ventures out from the city on a mount for a "picnic," though what she's got packed is more along the lines of simple food for traveling, cloth cut into bandages, and other things she's managed to purchase with her earnings from the Wyvernest cafe. Some days, when she's gotten especially good tips, she has a little more.

Some days, when business has been slow, she's got a little less.

Either way, she's trying. And she could probably use a little help... be it with passing things out to people who need them, or actually providing effective medical assistance, or not getting mugged or attacked by wild animals or something.]

two - edrathe ruins;
[Is it foolish to be out here? Probably. Is that going to stop her from looking around? Probably not.

...except it really should have, because enough time has passed that Yona's borrowed mount has decided to head back to the stables and has definitely left her behind. She's wandering around near the entrance now, unsure if she's actually where she left it or if she's just gotten terribly turned around.]

Hello?

[...there's that strange rumbling noise; she jolts, then glances over her shoulder.]

Is someone here...?

a visit to wyver;

one - dragonwatching;
[No amount of tension is going to keep Yona out of Wyver - for the time being, anyway. But even she's not that stupid; when she does take off for the hotter country, about midway through the month, she at least has the sense to change the style of clothing she's wearing and smooth down her hair. It's perhaps not the most effective disguise she could have gone with, but at least when her hair reverts back to its usual frizzy state, she can use that as an excuse -

It couldn't have been me you saw! Do you really think I could get my hair to look like that?

Et cetera, et cetera.

Anyway, now that she's back in Wyver, she's going to be visiting some friends - but she's also going to be taking the time to go observe some fully-grown dragons. ...from a distance, of course; she doesn't want to be eaten. Still.

There's no small amount of admiration in her eyes as she watches them.]

They really are amazing...!

two - lagoons;
[Before she goes back to Olympia, she has to stop at the lagoons. Has to. There's no two ways about it. They're one of the things she enjoyed most about the jungle country, and she doesn't know when she'll get the chance to bathe in them again.

The public bathhouses in Olympia are perhaps a little more elegant, but the lagoon has its charm, too.

For now, Yona lounges in one of the public pools, her hair fanning out across the surface of the water and preserving her modesty. But ultimately, a bath is a bath. There's a time and a place for being naked; this is one of them.

So she doesn't really think twice about it when she catches sight of someone's feet at the water's edge - she waves them over with a smile.]

Come in, the water's great!

Uhh...

[ Well. They say there's no better teacher than experience, right? He's...pretty sure they say that, anyway. After a moment's consideration - and without showing her how to, you know, hold it or anything, Prompto holds the gun out for Yona to take. ]

Right now! Go on, give it your best shot - literally!

[ He cracks himself up sometimes. ]

[Yona reaches out for the gun and curls her fingers around the handle to get a good grip on it. But, never having been told how she's supposed to hold it, well...

BANG!

...she accidentally pulls the trigger as she does, and fires a shot right into the ground, mere inches from Prompto's foot.]

Eeeek—!

[Aaaand fumbles the gun.]

[ It's almost like he can see what's about to happen before it does - or, at the very least, he's realizing what a bad idea it was to hand a gun over to someone without telling them how to even hold it.

The gun goes off, and Prompto instinctively jumps back. This is going to be how he dies. ]

Hoooooly shhhhhiiiitballs - [ And he swipes for the gun before she can drop it and set it off again. He grabs the barrel to hold it still, whistling out a sight of relief. ]

Ooohkay, maaaaaybe I should...show you how to hold it first.

[ That. Would be a good idea. ]

That's... that's probably a good idea!

[why did neither of them think of that sooner. Yona makes no attempt to keep him from taking the gun back, mostly because it's safer in his hands than in hers.]

Sorry about that...!

Heh, don't worry about it! Congrats, you have now shot a gun!

[ Accidentally, but, details.

A tad more cautious now, Prompto holds the gun in his right hand, holding it out so she can see the positioning of his fingers over the trigger and grip more easily. ]

Hold it like this. If you wanna use two hands to steady your aim, don't put your other hand over your trigger finger. Oh - and, uh, this is the safety. It...makes it so the gun doesn't fire unless you want it to.

[ He indicates the safety switch with his finger. IMPORTANTE. ]

...that's right, I have!

[she shot a gun and nobody died so you know what, that's a victory]

I see... that makes sense. [Her gaze roams over the gun, taking in the position of his hands and fingers, and then lingers on the safety.]

Are you always supposed to leave that on until right before you shoot?

Usually a good idea, unless you're, like, in the middle of a fight.

[ He pauses, giving Yona a look. He doesn't know what she does in her free time. Maybe she gets into fights??? ]

Word of advice. The fewer things you accidentally shoot, the better.

[yep, you got her, prompto. she's a brawler in her spare time.]

So I should only shoot things on purpose...

[well. yes???]

[ He nods resolutely. ]

Yeah. That's, uh - the gist.

[ Wasn't that implied??? Never mind. He goes back to his demonstration, lifting the gun in his hands and lining up his view, tapping the sight with a finger. ]

See this? That's the sight. It helps you line up your shot so you don't miss!

[ Will wonders never cease?! ]

[Let her live.]

I see!

[That seems like a useful addition to a gun... Yona tilts her head to one side, a little curious.]

When you get really good at it, can you hit your target without using the sight?

It depends...kinda. You might get really comfy with one gun and won't need the sight to aim, but the second to switch to a different firearm? You gotta get used to how it fires all over again.

[ And it always helps with lining up those tricky shots. Whatever the Eos equivalent of Call of Duty is taught him this. ]

Oh... so it just takes lots and lots of practice.

[She holds her hand out to him and stares at the gun, determined.]

Is it okay if I try again? I'll be a lot more careful this time!

[ He's a bit more hesitant this time as he hands the gun over, but he's done a better job at showing her how to actually, you know, hold it now, so...

With a deep breath, he hands over the gun. ]

You got this, Yona! I believe in you!

[Having actually been taught how to hold the gun and not fire it prematurely, Yona does much better this time!

...no, really, she does. She doesn't accidentally fire it off prematurely, and she even manages to raise it and peek into the sight to get an idea of where she's shooting. Another deep breath, and she intentionally pulls the trigger.

The shot goes wide of where she was aiming it, and she nearly (but doesn't!) fumbles the gun on recoil, but it doesn't hit him! So. Progress.]

...mrrrgh. I didn't hit what I wanted to...

[ Definitely progress! And Prompto is grinning widely when she successfully fires the gun. He didn't pick it up in a day, either. Buuuut years of playing video games definitely helped... ]

Hey, don't sweat it! No one gets it on the first try. It's hard to get used to when your weapon is tryin' to jump out of your hands, too.

[ He points to one of the other targets on the range. It's a standard bullseye definitely meant for bow practice, buuuut they can probably hijack it for this, right? ]

See if you can hit anywhere on that target.

That target...?

[Yona doesn't know that she'll be able to do it, but the surest way to fail is to not try at all. So she raises the gun again, eyes the target, and takes a deep breath before pulling the trigger.

She doesn't hit that target. But she does hit the very edge of the target a couple of targets to the left!]

[ ...Well? A target is still a target, and when she hits it, Prompto whoops and claps his hands together. ]

Alright, now you're talkin'! If that was a monster, it'd have a real sore footsie or something right about now!

[Right, that's fair - close enough. When Prompto doesn't get upset that she missed the target she was aiming for, Yona relaxes and even manages to smile.

He's a much nicer teacher than she was expecting!]

Right! And then I'd have the chance to run away from it and it wouldn't be able to catch up because its foot was hurting. I think I'm getting the hang of this!

[ Was she expecting him to be a mean teacher?! ]

You sure are! If you keep practicing, I bet you'll have the basics down in now time. Then we can move on to style.

[ Which is, of course, VERY important. ]

I'm looking forward to that!

[Right, she's just going to have to practice a lot, then... because she wants to shoot stylishly. She has priorities. They're skewed, but she has them.]

Okay. I'm going to keep shooting until I'm able to hit the target that I want to hit! No matter how long it takes!

[ Look, there is nothing wrong with that. Style is what it's all about! Why wield a cool weapon unless you can look cool while using it, too? ]

I'm planning on coming to Wyver frequently, so... is it okay if I come find you when I do?

[You'll never be rid of her, Prompto. Never ever.]

[ As if he'd want to be rid of her! Instead, he brightens visibly. ]

Yeah, of course it is! Hit me up anytime you're in town. Even if it's not for practice, we can still shoot the breeze.

[ He nods his head from side to side a bit. She's got his number... ]
