olympia proper;
one - getting reacquainted;the outskirts;
[Before taking ill, Yona had spent much of her time in the market district - mainly because she's always been easily distracted by interesting things. As a result, she hadn't been completely familiar with other parts of the city before then, though she did make a few forays into the theater district.
No more. Now that she's back, she has every intention of learning her way around the city she and her friens have returned to.
Her wandering takes her almost everywhere - and as a result, she ends up hopelessly, uselessly lost. Maybe you'll catch her looking at her surroundings with a puzzled expression.]
...wait, was I supposed to turn right at the last street, or the next one?
[Help.]
two - weapons galore;
[You must never touch weapons, Yona.
Her father's words are fresh in her mind as she stands outside the weapons shop. Of course - she's already disobeyed him once, when practicing throwing daggers. But she can only keep "borrowing" from Jae-Ha and sneaking them back to him for so long, and they're his weapons, in the end; she needs to find something that suits her.
Sooner or later, she was always going to have to look out for herself.
So in she goes, although she nearly immediately looks a bit overwhelmed at all the different choices. Oh boy.]
There's so many of them...
three - order up;
[She can't just rely on other people to buy her things forever (although to be truthful, it's worked for her so far).
So, not long after they return to Olympia, Yona starts looking for work. Her problem is there aren't a lot of things she already knows how to do well - but part-time work serving food at a cafe seems simple enough, and she's managed to get a job as a waitress at the Wyvernest, which suits her just fine. One of the most interesting things about Wyver was the dragons, after all.
Now she's sort of got the best of both worlds - she can see the baby dragons while she's working, and can learn about them as she does. (The owner doesn't rebuff her when she asks for employment as some others have, but maybe that's because they remember she wore a Wyver pin at the gala. Maybe they think she knows more about dragons than she actually does.)
But at the moment? It's time to serve some customers! Yona looks up when she hears the door open and fixes the person who's just entered with a smile.]
Welcome to the Wyvernest! How many would you like a table for today?
one - neutrality problems;a visit to wyver;
[The first time she borrows a mount to go exploring, she runs into some of the people who have left the city.
...up until that moment, she hadn't realized just how bad things had gotten. Sure, there were people who were vocal about wanting to keep themselves separate from the people of Wyver, and people who were talking about fighting with them... but she'd believed it was just talk. After all, when she'd gotten sick, the medicine that had cured her had only existed because they'd cooperated with them.
But, no. Apparently it is that bad. And when she hears that people on both sides have been refused help from the Sanctuary and the Altar of Volkkra...
Well, she can't take it. She really can't take it.
So, from time to time, she ventures out from the city on a mount for a "picnic," though what she's got packed is more along the lines of simple food for traveling, cloth cut into bandages, and other things she's managed to purchase with her earnings from the Wyvernest cafe. Some days, when she's gotten especially good tips, she has a little more.
Some days, when business has been slow, she's got a little less.
Either way, she's trying. And she could probably use a little help... be it with passing things out to people who need them, or actually providing effective medical assistance, or not getting mugged or attacked by wild animals or something.]
two - edrathe ruins;
[Is it foolish to be out here? Probably. Is that going to stop her from looking around? Probably not.
...except it really should have, because enough time has passed that Yona's borrowed mount has decided to head back to the stables and has definitely left her behind. She's wandering around near the entrance now, unsure if she's actually where she left it or if she's just gotten terribly turned around.]
Hello?
[...there's that strange rumbling noise; she jolts, then glances over her shoulder.]
Is someone here...?
one - dragonwatching;wildcard;
[No amount of tension is going to keep Yona out of Wyver - for the time being, anyway. But even she's not that stupid; when she does take off for the hotter country, about midway through the month, she at least has the sense to change the style of clothing she's wearing and smooth down her hair. It's perhaps not the most effective disguise she could have gone with, but at least when her hair reverts back to its usual frizzy state, she can use that as an excuse -
It couldn't have been me you saw! Do you really think I could get my hair to look like that?
Et cetera, et cetera.
Anyway, now that she's back in Wyver, she's going to be visiting some friends - but she's also going to be taking the time to go observe some fully-grown dragons. ...from a distance, of course; she doesn't want to be eaten. Still.
There's no small amount of admiration in her eyes as she watches them.]
They really are amazing...!
two - lagoons;
[Before she goes back to Olympia, she has to stop at the lagoons. Has to. There's no two ways about it. They're one of the things she enjoyed most about the jungle country, and she doesn't know when she'll get the chance to bathe in them again.
The public bathhouses in Olympia are perhaps a little more elegant, but the lagoon has its charm, too.
For now, Yona lounges in one of the public pools, her hair fanning out across the surface of the water and preserving her modesty. But ultimately, a bath is a bath. There's a time and a place for being naked; this is one of them.
So she doesn't really think twice about it when she catches sight of someone's feet at the water's edge - she waves them over with a smile.]
Come in, the water's great!
[If none of the above works for you, just hit me with whatever! I just ask that you let me know when and where it's happening; I can come up with a justification for Yona to be wherever you'd like. Alternatively, hit me up by PM or athungriest and I'll be glad to write a personalized starter for you.]
no subject
[She beams at her.]
I'm not scared, Miss Shura. I want to learn to do things like this.
no subject
Ha, y'think you can keep up with me? Prove it.
[It's one thing to want to be more independent, but this was risky grave robbing?? Come on...]
no subject
[...right now, apparently. No time like the present!]
no subject
[L o o k, Shura doesn't mind drinking on the job, but she's just responsible enough to know that this was a bad idea after a few shots??]
Jeez, you're excited. Nah, how 'bout you prove to me that you have the guts to walk into a creepy cave. Then I'll think about takin' you with me tomorrow.
no subject
[And she won't let you forget that you promised, Shura.]
no subject
[A test of courage!! Except there aren't any supposedly haunted forests or creepy abandoned school buildings to go through in Wyver that Shura knows of. And honestly, Shura's feeling too lazy to go through all of that effort. But she has a different idea. And that's going to require going to Thesa Station.
So fast forward through settling the bills and all that jazz. Time to make their way up to Thesa Station and find an empty lounge. A scary movie was going to be much more convenient than pretty much anything else.]
Heheh, have you watched any movies up here? I wonder if they have R*ngu...
[or whatever alternative version of the movie was available...]
no subject
R*ingu...? No... I can't say that I have.
[But how does watching something prove her bravery? Whatever, she's got this, she'll watch everything that Shura throws her way. ...even if she has to hug a pillow from one of the seats to do it.]
no subject
And there it is, somewhere hidden on the database. It'll be great. When was the last time she watched a horror movie??]
Good! Lessee... If you can make it through the movie without screamin' or cryin', I'll take you out tomorrow. That good to you?
[surely, she'd shriek at one of the jump scares, and that would solve everything]
If you wanna get something to eat, now's the time.
no subject
[She's going to cheat.
She's going to stuff her face with snacks so that even if she does sort of whimper a little, Shura won't be able to hear it.
Anyway, she runs off to go grab some food, and comes back with as much as she can carry.]
Start it up!
no subject
All righ', all righ'~
[Shura would have gotten a bottle of water to drink, and it won't take long to get settled on a sofa.
and shit i don't remember what happens during the movie, but to be sure, Shura's going to keep an eye on Yona to see her reaction. Really, that's going to be more fun tan watching the actual movie herself.]no subject
Buuuut... since we're trying to actually get them to go on a quest... Yona manages not to scream or cry. There are definitely a few moments when she almost does, and a handful of times when she shovels food into her mouth so that she physically can't scream, but she makes it through the movie.
(She looks a little pale and is probably going to have nightmares, but it's fine.)]
...that's the end of it...?
no subject
But all considering, she did okay. Her face is pretty funny though, and Shura, who would have curled up on whatever kind of couch they were sitting on, veeery carefully slides her leg out, meaning to nudge Yona's thigh with her leg and hopefully scare her.]
no subject
Not enough to scream, though; instead, her instinct is to take the pillow she's been hugging and throw it directly at Shura's face with as much strength as she can muster.
(Admittedly, this isn't much.)]
Hey! That's not very nice, Miss Shura!
no subject
Shura's cackling, quick enough to catch the pillow before it hits her face, though it's not graceful. That's a priceless reaction, and actually impresses Shura just a little. That's not the best throw, but that can be fixed.]
Nyeheh, if ya can't handle that, then don't bother showin' up tomorrow.
[she'll regret this later, but she's going to hold up her end of the bargain.]
no subject
[she is absolutely determined]
You better be sure you show up too, because I'm going in there with or without you.
[i'll timeskip us to the next day to start the quest in my next tag if you want!]
no subject
But yes, skip ahead to the next day, hopefully not first thing in the morning because do you want hungover shura, do you??]
quest ยป disturbing the dead - shura;
So. The time comes. Here they are.
It should be a simple process, shouldn't it? Get in, get the stuff they're after, get out. She's brought the bow and arrow she's been practicing with just in case, though she's not sure what good it will do against ghosts, and she meets Shura outside the crypt as scheduled.]
What kinds of things do you think we'll be able to find?
no subject
In there? Traps, probably. Keep an eye out and stick close to me--there might not actually be any traps, but this place doesn't look like it's been kept up.
[Flashlight in hand, Shura's prepared to venture into the dank crypt, motioning for Yona to follow her.]
Don't expect to find anything big. We'll be lucky if this gets us anything.
i'm so sorry this is late!
[They've come all the way out here. Coming back with nothing to show for it would be kind of, well, silly.
She follows Shura closely as they enter the crypt and wrinkles her nose slightly at the cold, musty smell. It's too dark to see clearly ahead of them, but so far, the path seems relatively unobstructed.
It'll be more dangerous further in.]</small
no subject
I guess this could be excitin'.
[Hopefully, it wouldn't be too exciting. It's already feeling a little boring down the first part of the path. No traps or anything. It's almost anti-climatic, at least until Shura spots a ghost peeking out from the other end of a bend.]
Follow where I go for a minute. If you don't, you might get a chill or somethin'.
[Walking through ghosts rarely felt good, even if they were benign.]
no subject
[Yona can't see ghosts, so she doesn't quite get what Shura is getting at. But for better or worse, she trusts her. Where the other woman goes, she follows.
...although she does shiver a bit as they draw closer to it.]
I didn't think there would be a draft down here... It seems pretty well enclosed.
no subject
[Man, she does not want to explain the ghosts or anything like that. That's way too much effort.]
Don't worry about it too much. It happens sometimes in places like this.
[Though Shura's beginning to wonder if someone else had beaten them to the treasure. But then there's just something off about the wall coming up ahead of them, like a few of the bricks were made of a different material, the mortar between them a little thicker. She shines her flashlight on it, taking a second to consider.]
That doesn't look right... I wonder.
[If it was a trap, then there had to be a trigger coming up pretty soon. But there's still a good few yards in front of them.]
no subject
Maybe if we press one of the different ones, they'll move...?
[Like some kind of secret door.
Or a trap, even. If they stood in front of the wall, the ground might fall out from under them.]
no subject
[It could have treasure, it could kill them. Shura slips her hand behind her back, sliding out a small dagger. In the same smooth motion, she throws the dagger at the wall. It hits the mortar between the bricks with a soft thunk and sticks--that's definitely not regular cement.]
Oi, how good's your aim? Try shooting at it--you might have enough power to break it at this distance with that bow.
[It may be wood painted like bricks and stuck together with some kind of gummy solution, but either way, it was breakable.]
no subject
[For hours at a time, even. Her neighbors are probably sick of hearing the thud of her practice shots hitting wood late at night.
But she nods, then notches an arrow and lines up to take her shot. A deep breath as she studies where she wants the arrow to go, and she lets it fly. The dice I rolled was nice, so she actually hits right where she wants it to!
...between the stress from the dagger and the arrow, it shatters. Enough for them to kind of see through to the other room, where there's the faint, flickering light of torches set into the opposite wall.]
How are we going to get in there? [...wait] How are those still burning?
